Putney Vermont is a very special town. The center of town is 2.5 miles from our home and features the General Store, Putney Food Co-op, restaurants, library, pub, crafts studios, Swirl consignment shop, the library, Next Stage music and theatre, and lots more. The rolling hills and mountains create the backdrop for an eclectic community of artists, musicians, writers, sculptors, craftspeople, farmers, gardeners, shopkeepers and so much more. This is a friendly place with a real sense of community, where neighbors help neighbors. Within 10 miles is the larger town of Brattleboro with excellent supermarket shopping , and a vibrant downtown area with superb restaurant choices, bakeries, movie theatres, live music, book stores, museums, galleries, and various other shops and activities.
The house was spacious and comfortable. The bathrooms were modern and clean. We did not do much cooking but the kitchen had all the necessities. The view was amazing and I was able to do some cross country skiing out the backyard.
It was a very pleasant experience and I would not hesitate to rent the house again. I have already recommended it to others.
Michael & Rebecca's place was a great place to stay for a weekend away, the only thing we would have changed is to have stayed even longer! The house was very clean and had beautiful views of Vermont. The kitchen was quite sufficient even for a group of people. The house would be great for a couples weekends or a calmer get away with friends!
Also - Michael & Rebecca even left us a great welcome present!
We got together to spend a few days over New Year's with family from Maine - Putney was an easy meeting point since we were coming from Connecticut. Michael and Rebecca's house is lovely. It easily accommodated our party of 7, and we stayed warm and cozy, despite temps in the teens, with the wood-burning fireplace (plenty of wood in the shed on the side of the house.) The view from the living room and deck is gorgeous, and the sparsely populated road they live on made for easy walking through the snow when we needed to stretch our legs after all the wonderful meals we cooked up in the very well-appointed kitchen. Altogether a great getaway made easy by our hosts' hospitality.
Our trip to Putney and the stay at Michael and Rebecca's home was idyllic to say the least. The location of their home is incredible and backs up to the beautiful Vermont woods. The house is thoroughly stocked with all the creature comforts one could ask for (wi-fi, fireplace, a great kitchen and comfy beds). We could not have asked for a better and more relaxing Christmas holiday. Michael was very responsive to any inquiries we had before and during our stay. They even left us a nice goodie basket of tea, popcorn and S'mores to enjoy. They also have an epic sledding hill behind the house that kids (and adults) can enjoy :-)
This was truly one of the nicest Christmas' we've ever had and we would would certainly stay here again. Thanks again Michael and Rebecca!
My family and I had a wonderful time at Michael and Rebecca's Putney home. Their view is breathtaking - we sat and enjoyed it every night from the deck, then warmed ourselves by their fireplace! Michael was quick to respond to any inquiries and the entire experience was very smooth. We hope to return soon!
What a nice house! We had a great stay. Great outdoor space...Loved all the books for us to read! Will def come back.
Michael was a fantastic host and his home is beautiful! We had high expectations based on the photos and description, but this house was far better than we could have imagined. This place is spacious and the land is gorgeous. Michael was very easy to reach, both my phone and email, with a very fast response time. They even left ingredients and long sticks to make s'mores! Now that's a wonderful host! We truly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning perhaps next year.
What a lovely home! My family and I (and our dog) spent several days at Michael and Rebecca's place in Vermont and really loved it. The house was very clean, has a beautiful view, and was set up for comfort and relaxation. The house matches the description well -- with plenty of space and everything you need. Michael was my point of contact and made everything very easy. We hope to make it back there and would strongly recommend it to others.
My partner and I had a fantastic experience at Michael and Rebecca’s Putney home over the winter Holidays. The house was the perfect combination of rustic and modern; it was private, yet not remote and sits on a beautiful mountain/country lane with panoramic views of the NH mountains. The sunsets and sunrises are dazzling. The kitchen is well appointed and was great for those who like to cook simple to elaborate meals. The communal areas are spacious and comfortable and the home was extremely clean, warm and cozy/inviting. The Town of Putney has everything you need for a relaxing visit. There’s a yarn spinnery for knitters, a great food Co-Op, local arts & crafts & food and ample opportunity to engage in the outdoors: hiking, biking, etc. During our stay it snowed quite a bit and the town/state keeps the roads well cleared and the hill in the backyard of the home was perfect for sledding. The property/area was just beautiful in the snow. You couldn’t ask for better hosts than Michael and Rebecca. They are quick to answer any questions and are very knowledgeable about Putney and Southern Vermont and all the amenities in the area; this really helped us explore the area and get a “local” feel for it. We can’t wait to go back in the warmer months and enjoy the property and it’s back porch/3 season rooms and Putney to check out the recreational opportunities on the Connecticut River and surrounding mountains/hills. Thank you for a great escape Michael and Rebecca!
