The Space

You will enjoy all life from one city world heritage, offering a wide range turístic, cuisine and culture to visitors. With all the advantages of being just 5 minutes walk from the city center and the famous Mirador de San Nicolas. Very close to zones of bars and restaurants but very quiet at night. The studio is completely renovated in 2013 and has all the amenities for a fantastic few days in one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, Granada; world heritage.
The first surprise is the building where our study, which is one of 10 Casa cataloged in Moorish Granada, with an authentic Muslim cistern and lookouts with spectacular views of the Alhambra and the city is located.
The loft studio for two high wooden beamed ceilings saved the second surprise your mezzanine with glass floor.

The Neighborhood

The Barrio del Albaicin, is located on the hill lying between Calle Elvira, Plaza Nueva, the Carrera del Darro, Paseo de los Tristes, the slope Chapiz, Calle San Luis, the Way of San Antonio and sidewalk of San Ildefonso. Albaicin still maintains the urban fabric of the Moorish period, with narrow streets, steep and as intricate network. Atop the hill is the Mirador de San Nicolas, where the views of the Alhambra and the city are wonderful, and very close is our apartment.
The traditional type of housing Albaicin is known as "Carmen", a house surrounded by a wall that separates it from the street and has a small garden full of fruit trees and where the ivy and bougainvillea trees from whitewashed walls. Strolling through the magic and color-filled streets, always presided over by the imposing Alhambra is a walk through a piece of history.

  • My wife and I had an excellent stay here! The location is tricky to find and appears sketchy at first but is actually perfect access to a lot of great stuff. The host was prompt in meeting us and very helpful. The bed is a bit tricky to climb into but I like an adventure.

    Response from Lydia:

Muchas Gracias.

  • All in all, our stay at the studio was a bit of a bummer. There were some positives, including the location (the Albaicin, beautiful!), the view of the Alhambra from the top floor of the building, and the couch was really really comfy. It is within walking distance to some great parks and overlooks. Lydia is responsive and Javier was very helpful at check-in. However, the negatives:

The shower. The shower is stand-up, without walls. There's a flimsy shower rod with a curtain that does no good at keeping the water within the shower well. It just sticks to your body if you attempt to use it. Essentially, the entire bathroom is the shower. Additionally, the shower head wasn't attached to the wall. All showers taken here are one-handed showers with the other hand holding the hose (unless you have another willing participant) and everything ends up soaked! This and the tiling in the shower is loose and falling out so watch your feet on the sharp tiles.

We also thought that the studio could have been cleaner upon arrival - there were leftover recyclables and dirty rags from the previous tenants, as well as some food in the silverware drawers. Near the entryway it looks like the walls are crying little tears of dirty water.

The studio itself is a little cave without much light. The view of the Alhambra is not from the studio, but from a landing one floor above that you can stand on. There is no seating on the landing although that would have made for a cool outside spot.

All in all this studio works as a temporary crash (website hidden)d on location but it's not an enjoyable space to hang out in.

  • The experience is the appartment was ok. The location is very good and the views are amazing! The couch is nice and the appartment is large enough for two! We stayed there for 3 nights. Although we did not like the pillows in the bed (1 big pillow for two persons) that much or the shower (very small and curtain is constantly in your shower space), and I didn't see how the appartment could have been completely renovated in 2013 while the paint was falling of the wall near the bathroom.

But all in all a nice experience if you don't expect a completely renovated appartment.

  • Lovely flat in an incredible location. Very clean and tidy, and with a really comfortable bed for relaxing at the end of a hard days walking (Granada is incredibly hilly!). The perfect spot to enjoy the Albayzin from.

  • Awesome place, great location in walking distance to just about anywhere in the city. Really close to some cool Moroccan shops and the Alhambra Palace. The weather was pretty wet and chilly, but the heater in the apartment saved us. Give yourself plenty of time to get here, the bus was late and we got lost trying to find the place. Sorry to make you wait, Javier!

  • We had a nice stay in the appartment! It's really cosy and well equiped. It's nicely located in the Albaycin district, which makes it really feel like living in the real ancient Granada. Lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby, do we didn't use the kitchen. But it's nice to have it though... We had a lot of information before comming to Granada and the welcome was really warm and friendly. The beautiful view to the Alhambra was really amazing.
Maybe two little points of critique: you can clearly hear what the neighbours say and do. It didn't bother me though. And you have to be pretty adventurous to climb up to the bed :-)

Anyway, I had a nice stay. Thanks a lot Lydia and Javier!
