The room has a lovely view of the lake where you can admire fantastic sunsets!

Our Finca organizes horse riding tours of the Island with Hari's Horses. We also organize guided hikes to the volcanoes and kayak tours to the river Istian.
We live with a variety of animals: horses (12), dogs of different kinds, cats and parrots which mingle and share our daily life.
If you like to chill out in the middle of nature and animals our Finca is the place you're looking for.

I don't even have the words to say how wonderful the hosts at the Finca are! Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. Hari was always there to help us with anything we needed, from a lovely horse tour to providing directions to a place to grab some food. Although the food served there at the Finca is spectacular too! Mirka and Marilena were excellent hosts as well, always willing to help and even offering to make delicious pasta for us when we arrived much later than expected our first night. Seriously the Finca was our favorite place out of the three we stayed at, and it was due in large part to the quality of the hosts. It was awesome to have so many animals around too. Some of our best memories consist of everyone hanging out and chatting together in the company of all the dogs, cats, and parrots.
One note of caution-- it does take some time to travel out there (1 hr ferry ride + 1 hr taxi ride). But it's SO worth it! I highly suggest contacting Hari to arrange a taxi for you from the ferry to the finca so you won't have to carry your luggage up the long and rocky driveway (which is doable but tiring).
The rooms and food are fantastic, there's an abundance of stuff to do, and a lot of great people to meet! We can't wait to go back :)
Really amazing property and bedroom. Absolutely loved the parrots! Really tucked away location that made this part of our trip very memorable. They gave us a great recommendation for a beachside restaurant with amazing fresh fish just down the road. Very recommended. Would have loved to stay longer.
Cool place and accomodation perfect spot to start climbing the Madeiras Volcano.
Lovely place to stay. Mica and Hari were really friendly hostesses! Merida is an amazing place in the island where you can do different activities. Perfect location!! Rooms were extremely clean and new with an amazing view. No complaints at all. Thanks for everything!
We were very fortunate to stumble upon Harry's property on AirBnB. We probably would have missed this lovely gem if left to our own devices. Wow. Three Warnings before coming:
1) The taxi is the only easy way to get there from the port (or if you pre-arrange a private pick-up). The bus may take you much longer than you'd like.
2) This is not a place where you are going for the active nightlife or to dress up for. This is much more rustic than any other part of Nicaragua that we had been to.
3) You will never want to leave :)
The road intimidated us a little as we took the taxi. It was roughly 35$ U.S. to get there and was about 1.5 hours. The last 7 kilometers consists of dirt and LOTS of rocks. When we arrived, we were greated by Harry's wife (and the dogs/parrots came soon after). She showed us to our room on the beautiful property. It really felt like we were in a private jungle on our porch. Admittedly, we were at first nervous of being too secluded and rustic. However, we could not have been more wrong. We did a great hike up the Maderas Volcano to the waterfall (which takes 4.5-6.0 hours depending on speed). Then, we still even had time to Kayak! The next day, we went Horseback riding and it may have been our favorite part of Nicaragua. A smoothe, two hour trail took us to one of the most pretty views I have seen. the horses that we used (owned by Harry), Tequila and Pinto, were not only well taken care of, but also very easy for new riders to handle. It was a real treat. Then, we rented a motorcyle and got tour the outskirts of the island. Make sure you remember to bring the registration as the police may stop you to check.
Overall it may feel far from the port but once you are there you will hate to leave! There are so many activities around (like Monkey island, the natural pool, or the waterfall) that it would be a shame not to add this to your trip! Thanks for showing us a great time Harry!
P.S. Be sure to stop by Margarita's Bar, the best food I have ever tasted :)
Marilena, Myrka, Juan, the parrots, the dogs, the horses... everyone we met was absolutely welcoming and beautiful. My boyfriend and I spent three of our loveliest nights on Ometepe at Finca Montania Sagrada, unforgettable. The land is abundant, peaceful, and stunning. Breakfast was wonderful. We felt safe and cared for, and just got to relax into the amazing energy of the island. Hiking Volcan Madera was one of the best days we've spent on holiday together. Riding the horses to the petroglyphs was also an absolute treat. We will be back to visit again one day! Lots of love...
My girlfriend and I stayed for two nights at the Finca, and it was great! Spending the afternoons laying in the hammock and reading a book was probably the most relaxing part of our trip in Nicaragua. The room was very nice and well built and pretty much exactly what you see in the pictures.
We only had one full day here, so we opted to take a horseback ride with Hari up to the waterfall. I definitely recommend you do this, we had a lot of fun galloping on the way back. Our horses even took a break to enjoy the lake!
I don't recommend this place if you're looking for a night life -- the place is very remote and you'll probably spend all your time in the evenings hanging out at the Finca. We spent our evenings hanging out in the communal area, playing with their parrots and dogs, and chatting with other guests.
A word of advice -- do not make the mistake of assuming you can pay with credit card even though they accept it for booking on Airbnb. They only take cash and we weren't told this prior to arriving. It got a little awkward with Hari when we let him know we had to use an ATM - he got a little brusque but he was able to arrange for us to stop by at an ATM on the way back to the ferry station.
Also, the round trip cost is $60-65 by taxi -- the original posting said they could pick up at the ferry for $25-$30 roundtrip, but they weren't able to pick us up at the time. Still worth it though.
All in all, we had a great time staying here and I do recommend you visit them if you plan to visit Ometepe!
Dear Alex, thank you so much for the nice thing you say about our Finca.
We must point out that we never said that the round trip to and from Merida would cost 30 $!.
Unfortunately taxies to Merida are expensive due to the bad road and we can assure you nobody would take you for less than US$ 30!
Further here in Ometepe is not easy to have credit card facility and it takes years before you can actually work with it! Airbnb asks you your credit card details for the room which is paid to us by them directly. Of course you need cash to pay your meals, tours, taxies, etc.
We really enjoyed having you and your lovely girlfriend here and we wished you'd could stay longer.
Wish you both a lovely 2013!
Our stay was short but we really enjoyed the atmosphere created by nice host's. We had problems with Motorcycle rental that Harry assisted us with. Wish we could have stayed a little longer and got to interact more in the Finca and with the hosts. Positive vibe and nice place to get away from it all.
Exceptional in every way.
We stayed at Finca Montana Sagrada for 3 nights in December. We arrived at Ometepe after 2 days in Granada. After our stay in Ometepe, we travelled to San Juan del Sur for another 2 nights. The entire trip was great; staying at the Finca was the highlight.
Mirka and Maria-Elena were waiting for us at the ferry to take us back to the finca. The ride to the is about 1 hour by car, and is an adventure in itself.
We discovered a beautiful property, at the base of volcano Maderas, with an abundant garden full of fruit trees (bananas (3 types), lemon, maracuja (passion fruit), goyava). The owners, Mirka, Hari and Maria-Elena made the stay unforgettable. We also loved being around their numerous pets (Peruvian Inca dogs, chihuahuas, cats, parrots, and horses).
We stayed at Casa Mamacita on the first floor. The room was perfectly clean, had a fan, a mosquito protection for the King-size bed (there were no mosquitos at this season) and hot water. Hot water is a luxury in Nicaragua and on the island, and we definitely enjoyed it after a full day of hiking. We also enjoyed relaxing on the hammock and rocking chair on the porch while watching the sunset, listening to the birds, and eating the fresh passion fruit and oranges left out for us.
The finca offers an incredible breakfast: fresh fruit juice (made from papayas and other tropical fruit from the garden), fresh yogurt and local honey, toast with home-made marmalade, and delicious Italian coffee. You can also enjoy a nice fresh juice during the day and stay there for dinner. You have to tell them the same day, and they'll prepare you some amazing pasta! (We ate some of the best food of the trip here). You can also go for dinner, near at Margarita's little restaurant, which offers local food in a familial environment.
The finca has a perfect location for those who like tranquility, authenticity and adventure. You can just relax or do a wide range of outdoor activities that are easily reached from there, including, kayaking on the lake, hiking the volcano Maderas, and horse-back riding. All are highly recommended.
If you go to Nicaragua, you will want to go to Isla Ometepe. If you go to Isla Ometepe, you should stay here. We couldn't recommend it more highly.
