Ina is a very gracious hostess, natural and friendly. I spent two months at her home and I was happy with my choice. The studio is as described and the place has answered to my principals criteria: a short walk to a beautiful beach, feel in security and ... a decent internet.
The studio is small, but has all the basic accommodations for a simple and pleasant holiday. I did not feel the need for AC, as I slept with window and door open and the fan. The common area (patio) is large and perfect for a short break, cafe, reading ...
The house is in the Mexican part of Playa. The inhabitants are quiet, respectful and kind. Fruits/veggies, grocery stores and markets are not far away. Taxi is not expensive and buses are really cheap.
You can be awaken by dogs, birds and an occasional delivery truck, but for me it was better than a loud party in downtown.
I had a perfect holiday. Thank you, Ina!
Ina's place is a bit out of the center but by a nice beach. We were able to park our rental car there. It's a good location to alot of the ruin sites and diving opportunities. It is not much on creature comforts and the bed was not comfortable but it had all the basic necessities. Ina is a nice person and for a low budget vacation it is fine.
My wife and I stayed with Ina for a month in Oct/Nov. All I can say is that we had an absolutely amazing time.
Ina is such a caring and excellent host. She was always very attentive and was always making sure we were ok and
had everything we needed. Ina is also a massage therapist and gives incredible, relaxing massages - we highly suggest this!
Ina has a great place located literally one minute from the beach by foot. The surrounding neighborhood
(which is called Colosio), is a very relaxed and very safe place filled with friendly locals.
I would not hesitate to recommend Ina's place if you're looking for a place in Playa.
The one thing I would like to add is that you should probably avoid the little restaurant around the
corner called Sol Playa. The food isn't all that good and no locals ever eat there; it's also more expensive than
some much better options.
Instead, you should go to the equally close restaurant called "Los Molcajetes". Located roughly a 30 second
walk from your house, Los Molcajetes is a small family owned restaurant that serves some of the best Mexican
food we've ever had. The best part? The food of the day + a personal pitcher of juice is just 50 pesos per person.
So that's less than $8.00 USD for two people! My wife and I ate there almost (see food stalls/taco carts) every day and loved every meal.
So... don't let the "rough" look of the neighborhood fool you. Get out there, connect with the locals, learn some Spanish,
and have an excellent time. We miss it and know we'll be back soon Ina, thank you so much!
I stayed in one of Ina's studios for a month. I fell in love with the neighborhood right away. As it is described it is so very close to a beautiful area of beach. There are restaurants nearby and one in particular that I could have eaten at daily. Ask Ina for the recommendations. Since I stayed for a fair amount of time I bought a bicycle and was able to explore so much of Playa del Carmen.
The location is secure and private. The porch area is awesome for relaxing and visiting. The area is definitely safe and friendly and above all very interesting.
Ina is an awesome person and I enjoyed her company. It felt like I was living with friends. Staying here definitely made my visit to Playa a special one.
I met a wonderful person, smiling, Ina has brought me a lot during this time and I thank him. The apartment is as described, I've felt like "home", it was really cool. There is access to the beach, right next to a small restaurant and not far from the center. Thank Ina for the warm welcome and all the past as well as his understanding and patience on the skills of my English and my Spanish (I'm French) evenings and through it I could make progress. I hope to return!
Located away from the main tourist zone but very accessible by $2.50 taxi ride or 40 cent bus ride.
Located just 200 metres from fabulous long white sandy beach. Crystal clear water totally safe to swim.
Nearby are a handful of small restaurants - camida or breakfast for 50 pesos.
Set up in the room is great. Adequate kitchen, fantastic shower. I found the bed a little uncomfortable. ( It seemed the bigger room may have had a better bed and mattress ) Daytime temps of 33-34 degrees c - Despite the 2 fans I found the room hottish . The little courtyard caught a breeze, and a wonderful double umbrella provide a more comfortable spot to blob and read.
Ina is an engaging and helpful host.
I would definitely recommend this place if you want to rest, recuperate, blob out, do nothing , walk, swim, eat.
Ina is a great host she will provide you with everything you need, the place is small but it makes it up for being so close to the beach.
We have spent 4 weeks in Ina's studio in Playa del Carmen. The studio is exactly as it was described: comfortable, very clean, with nice common space in the garden and last but not least it is located just 2 minutes walk from beautiful Caribbean beach. The neighborhood is safe, you can walk during the night without any problems. After few days we were recognized and greeted by local neighbors.
Ina is a great host, very easy going, accommodating and friendly. She knows the area very well and she recommended us places to go out to eat or drink and provided us tons of other useful information. Ina is very funny person, so it was always pleasure to chat with her.
We've really enjoyed our time in Playa and we already miss Ina and Playa!
Staying with Ina was such a wonderful experience. She appeared to be a nice person who provided us plenty of useful info and tips. We liked the studio, esp. its location with lovely beach just around a corner, nice and cheap places to eat. As Rod indicated, don't be deceived by the looks of neighbourhood. The area is super safe, we walked around even very late at night and were NEVER nagged by any street vendor or anyone asking for a change (unlike downtown!) We were greeted and recognized by the local people, who liked to chat with us, instead. We already miss Ina and her place!
Ina is a sweetheart, and a great host. Any small need we had was "no worries" and instantly addressed with a great attitude. A talented Chef, Ina had excellent recommendations for places to eat out for all budgets. The location was great also, short walk to the non-crowded beach and great snorkeling just off shore ( 500M off-shore was better than Cozumel! 10-15 minute swim to shallow reef). A short walk from the main tourist area and away from the crowds, the locals were friendly and it was safe to walk around at any time . We spent 6 weeks with Ina, in a relaxed atmosphere with all the basics covered. Great Wifi too. Thanks Ina
