My small apartment is a 5-minute walk from the Sheung Wan MTR station and an 8-minute walk from the Central escalator on Hong Kong Island. Taxis and buses are also very easy to catch on the streets nearby.
The place is ideal for a solo traveler or a business traveler looking for a clean, well-situated place to sleep and shower. At less than 200 square feet, the studio cannot accommodate more than one unfortunately.
The studio is small and spare but stocked with high-end amenities, fresh linens, an iron, small water kettle and comes with an air conditioning unit for the hot summer weather. There's also Wifi and a few cable TV channels in the room. Please note the entire space is captured in the photos above so it's quite small. I also recommend packing light if possible since there's two flights of stairs and no lift.
Please check out my reviews for more info and pointers from past guests. Regarding the post office key drop-off -- at any time during the day on weekdays or weekends, you can drop the keys into the mail slot at the post office across the street. I keep self-addressed, stamped envelopes in the room.
The neighborhood is an up-and-coming part of Sheung Wan, just west of Central on Hong Kong island. There are boutique hotels and Western creperies mixed in with traditional Hong Kong diners and Chinese knick-knack stores on my street. Lan Kwai Fong, the center of expatriate nightlife, and the SoHo (south of Hollywood in this town) dining area are a just short stroll away. Feel free to ask me for recommendations on where to go for good eats/drinks in Hong Kong!
As previous reviewers have said this apartment is perfect for solo travellers! Debra and Len (her assistant) was extremely helpful and made it a very comfortable stay for me. The apartment is small and is not suitable if you have a lot of luggage so just be wary of that but is definitely clean and well equipped. There are L'Occitane and MUJI toiletries provided as well as basic amenities. I felt very safe with the double lock system in addition to a main lock on the first door. The location was very convenient and is probably one of my favourite areas of Hong Kong - very close to the MTR and a short walkable distance to Central, Soho.
Debras studio was bery nice small enough for one traveler but comfortable ,neighborhood was safe very close to shen wuang mtr and various restaurants and fast food places
When in hong kong i will stay at her place again
This Studio is perfect for solo traveler, The location is great near MTR Sheung Wan, Central and Hong Kong - Macau ferry terminal.
The neighborhood was safe. The place is small but clean, wifi also fast, and Debra provided detailed instructions to her apartment and amenities.
Thanks Debra :)
Thank you I had a nice stay in the flat.
It was as mentioned, little but that was enough for my stay. I really liked the area and it was easy to move by subway.
I suggest people to try the cafeteria Cafe de Coral which is close from the flat, it's simple and good food and very affordable.
I'll come back for sure!
Saying that Debra is a great host in an understatement. She was so helpful throughout the entire process and the many touches in the apartment make it feel like home for a weary/excited traveler. The space is small — it is in downtown Hong Kong, so this is to be expected — but it is very clean and is equipped with toiletries in case you forget to pack something. Her assistant Len made getting the keys easy, and I had no problem walking to the apartment from Hong Kong station. It took about 15 minutes while carrying two backpacks.
In the immediate vicinity, Barista Jam and The Cupping Room both have fantastic coffee. Barista Jam also makes a tasty omelette. There is a great bakery around the corner, and a laundry right across the street — though it is closed on Wednesdays, which seems rather random.
Thanks Debra and Len. You helped make my time in Hong Kong even better!
This apartment was exactly what I was looking for. It is small but comfortably fits one person (without too much luggage!). It's located in what turned out to be my favourite area of HK - lots of interesting shops and good places to eat around. The neighbours and the street outside are both quiet, so it was easy to get a good night's sleep, although the bed could've been a little softer. Overall a great place to stay.
Lovely place in a really nice area, very safe. Lots of really nice places to eat nearby. I particularly liked Dandy's Organic just down the road, great selection for veggie/vegans, adding the soup is always good for about 10HKD more. Down by the trams there's a huge selection of places to eat. I liked the Korean place (upstairs) and the Japanese place on the corner was excellent too. And the little bakery on Morrison street just around the corner is an excellent way to spend any change you accumulate!
It's 10 minutes to central on foot and the MTR and Macau ferries are very close.
The laundry across the road is excellent for longer stays.
The bed is small but was fine for me at 5'9. It's a very small place but if you like lots of space HK might not be for you!!
The wifi is good. The shower is hot and gives acceptable flow.
I definitely recommend staying here to the lone traveller. Great location at a great price.
Apartment is in a great location, close to lots of good restaurants on Hollywood Rd. The room is very small but works well if you are travelling on your own and don't need masses of space. Great value compared to hotels nearby.
The studio was located in a very convenient location near the Sheung Wan market tram stop and 7-10 minutes walking distance from Central.
Debra was a fantastic host, she provided detailed instructions to her apartment and amenities such as L'occitane toiletries, toothbrush, toothpaste and towels.
The studio was very neat and clean; a cleaner came in during my stay to change the sheets and to clean the apartment as well.
Overall a great experience and I would definitely recommend it to my friends.
First of all, Hong Kong is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever traveled to in the world! As far as my stay in the flat in Sheung Wan, it was perfect! The location is great. The neighborhood was safe as well as vibrant during the day. My host Debra told me way in advance that the flat was small....and she was right, but it was perfect for one person. I met her assist Len who made it easy for me to get the keys and Debra has a perfect system for dropping off the keys. I would highly recommend this location for the solo travel who wants a real feel for living in the wonderful city that Hong Kong is. I want to thank Debra for her hospitality and Len for meeting me at Central.
