We just spent the best week we could ever imagine in Cabarete! Mark and Casa Velada were the best option we could have made:
Great house with amazing facilities. A private swimming pool and great garden area where you can chill and enjoy the sound of the waves. Extremely well kept, daily gardening. Direct access to the beach. Literally. Rooms were simple but very comfortable, with AC. Large beds. Very clean.
Location, location, location. It doesn't get any better than this. Situated 3 minutes walk on the beach from the center of Cabarete and all the restaurants and bars. Close enough to never need a car, and far enough to not be bothered by the noise or movement from the center. Multiple food options around. Great Kitesurfing schools and spot right in front of the house.
Mark was extremely helpful through out the planning of the trip. Very quick in answering and getting things done. A great asset.
The people handling the house on the ground were also very helpful and attentive.
The villa is in a secured compound that felt very safe. Security guys come around all night to ensure everything is ok.
I truly recommend this villa for both families or groups of friends visiting Cabarete.
Just great for two friend families (close but independant) if you rent the 2 parts of the house.
Pictures on the site are completely real, no hidden default ! Just a wonderful place in a wonderful area ! you will love it
I stayed a week at Casa Velada, and I would argue pretty determinedly that this is THE BEST spot to stay while at "kite beach" in Cabarete. The whole house (which is a single-level duplex of two 2-bedroom units) is quite spacious with enough room to accommodate a large family. Each unit has a semi-private roof deck, great for catching sun during the day or stargazing at night. The pool isn't large or deep (you won't be doing laps or diving) but is big enough to stay cool, and the shallow depth (~4 feet) actually makes it great for kids. The cabana by the pool is perfect for staying cool in midday when the sun is blazing.
But the star attraction at Casa Velada is the well landscaped garden which leads up to the beachfront patio. The uphill grade blocks views of the house from the beach, keeping your stay quiet and private, but your view from the beachfront patio is majestic to say the least. I woke up at sunrise a few times just to lounge on the beachfront patio and take it all in as the beach stirred to life in the morning. The most whimsical part of the day is when all of the kite surfers (I counted about 100 at one point) are out in full force on the water, the skyline in front of Casa Velada is filled with colorful kites. Since Casa Velada is so close to the water, the kites sometimes fly directly over the beachfront patio!
Access to the beach is perfect as well, just a few steps out of the walkway and you're confronted with the surf. And as I mentioned before, after walking up and down the beach, a mile in either direction, it appeared to me that Casa Velada has the best location on the beach. Its proximity to the surrounding beachfront businesses and restaurants is just far enough to keep activity in front of the house to a minimum, but close enough that you don't have to travel far to enjoy their offerings.
Outside the house, you will have to park on the street, but that is no problem since the house is nestled in a private/gated community and Casa Velada is at the farthest point from the street, so you won't hear or see any street noise whatsoever. There's also a host of necessities within walking distance to the house on the street from a little grocery store to a place to exchange currency. If you drive about 5-10 minutes into town, there's a lot more stuff available should you need it like anything from banks to restaurants.
Next time I plan a trip to the Dominican Republic, Casa Velada is going to be first on my list of destinations.
