The space

The house is built in a warm, friendly wooden surf shack style. Sitting backed into the jungle a mear 400m up the side of a hill on a secluded private road, overlooking playa St Teresa from the famous surf break, Suck Rock to the North, down to La Lora in the South. It's a ten minute walk uphill from the main road but the view and the privacy is worth every single step. The beach, surf rentals and a grocery store are all in 10-15 minutes walking distance.

The house features a big bedroom with a queens size bed and ocean view and a smaller bedroom that fits a queens size bed and a shelf. There is also an additional annex with a single bed, The outside kitchen and the massive balcony and deck brings you close to living with nature. The decision whether and where to go surfing is usually made while enjoing a coffee or fresh juice on the balcony at breakfast.

During your stay I will normally live with my girlfriend in the studio on the base level of the house and will be happy to help you with recommendations.
Come and enjoy a little slice of heaven and some of the most amazing sunsets on the planet from the balcony.

My wife and I had a great stay at Youbi's place. We thought the location was fantastic. There were beautiful views of the oceans, and we were able to watch a ton of bird and animal, including monkey activity, right from the porch. We arrived by shuttle to Santa Teresa, and felt we were able to adequately get around everywhere needed by foot or with a bicycle rental quite easily. As others have mentioned it is a steep hill up to the house, but it is pretty short and really no problem if you are in reasonable shape. Youbi was super friendly and always willing to help out if we had any questions or needed anything, we would absolutely go back and would recommend it to any one!

Youbi was very accommodating and very responsive to our needs. The place is outside of town and up a very steep hill so a 4-wheel drive vehicle is necessary. We decided not to rent a car and instead used "taxi" service. The views are awesome. You an see and hear the Howler Monkeys.

I can't say enough positive things about our experience and stay at Youbi's place! We stayed three nights and the views, wildlife, nature, and views were all perfect. Youbi was very nice and was always available if we needed anything. The large filtered drinking water container in the kitchen and outside shower were nice features, and we loved the openness of the place. If you plan to walk, the hill from the house to the town is steep, but no issue if you are in shape. I would stay here again!

This place is great for a secluded stay near a bustling beach town. The rumors are true, you will definitely need a 4x4 vehicle to make it up the hill to the place and you should bring the necessities (food, tp, beer) with you. I had read this but forgot to review my notes when we got there so we had to run out after we arrived. No big deal: the local grocery is just at the bottom of the hill. In any case, the place has unbelievable views and is delightfully open-air. There is an outdoor shower to rinse off after a day in the water. The beach is walkable but we found that because we were a large group (5) that it was easiest to drive down/up. Walking up the hill in mid day would be a doozy. The town itself has plenty to offer. Be forewarned, some of the places are cash-only (but everyone takes USD). There is an ATM about a 10min drive away. Great trip, would book again!

Ditto what everyone else said, the place is spectacular. Open air living (I don't even know if the the door shuts) and very safe. Youbi is great (accessible but not annoying) and the place was amazing, we felt like locals with our own private oasis. The sunsets from the porch can't be topped, especially with the sounds of the ocean and birds in the background. SO GLAD we didn't stay in a hotel! We took the ferry there and drove around to the bridge coming home, both scenic and safe but the drive is riddled with dirt roads and pot holes after the ferry. Overall it was an incredible stay. One tip: Santa Theresa is mostly cash only, they accept USD and CRC everywhere but be equipped with cash!
