Julie's BnB was the perfect fit or my friends and I's trip to Trujillo. It's clean, spacious and comfortable and only a ten minute walk from the Plaza de Armas. Julie was welcoming and friendly and very kindly allowed us to check in at 5am (when we arrived by night bus) for only 30 soles more. She also allowed us to leave our bags for the day after we'd checked out AND use the showers that evening after we'd gone to the beach before getting the night bus home! There is a bit of an odd smell in the bathroom, but I'm thinking there must be a bit of a drainage issue in the city itself as we quite frequently came across a similar smell just walking around Trujillo. Over all though, great value for money! Would stay again!
Generally our stay was fine, hosts were nice and helpful, but I agree with other guests that there was strong smell from the bathroom, very unpleasent. The pressure in the shower was very week, and hot water worked only when the shower was down... Kitchen was fine, but the plates and utensils were very dirty and sticky. The location was fine. There was no laundry even if it is stated in the description, we had to pay extra, 30 soles.
They were very nice, and even picked me up from the airport. Unfortunately, I was visiting due to a family tragedy (my uncle was in the hospital because of a bad car crash, and my aunt died instantly). I moved to the Hotel Libertador to be with family, after the first night, and I will be here an additional week, as my uncle fully recovers.
The apartment is quite large (2 bedroom), It is at the top of four flights of stairs so this would not be suitable for those who are not physically fit. The living room is light and airy, although the bedrooms have no outside windows and are therefore a little dark. Unfortunately there was a strong smell from the bathroom drains which made an unpleasant smell in the apartment. The kitchen was compact with little bench space on which to prepare food, and was not very well equipped (it did have a 2 burner gas ring, rice cooker, coffee maker and blender but only 1 small pot and a frying pan (although i was given another larger pot after requesting one). there were no cooking utensils (wooden spoons etc) and minimum cups and plates. The location of the apartment is outside of the city centre but taxis were only Soles 3-4.
Julie was very pleasant to deal with. Upon our arrival, we were informed that the room advertised was not available. We were assigned different room which was okay. The kitchen wasn't what we expected (great fridge, good size sink) but the plates and utensils were dirty, no bowls and the stove was actually a flimsy two burner propane camping stove. The beds were clean and comfy but the shower still has hairs from previous guests. The shower was okay (pressure, ok - temperature, warm). Good internet connection (once it was fixed). Sleepless nights due to very echoey halls and construction next door. Tour offered (affiliated with B&B was excellent. 20 min. walk to city centre but through a bit of a sketchy neighbourhood. We ended up leaving early due to inability to get a good night rest. Julie was very understanding and refunded us for the night we didn't stay.
Overall I cannot recommend this place. The people who run it are very pleasant and accommodating but the accommodations are not up to par with the price.
I am surprised with this comment as all our guests are very happy with our appartments which are new, large and comfortable! you can't expect a 5 star hotel for this price!! What we offer is always very appreciated by our guests! always.
I understand that the neighbours were doing construction but I can reassure, this is now over. I apologize for this.
