My sister and I (and our little puppy) ventured to Belinda and Gavin's place for a quiet weekend getaway -- unexpectedly we were welcomed with a snowy winter wonderland!
We loved the space and private location. Upon arrival, the cottage was clean, pre-heated, and was fully furnished with extra towels and blankets. The kitchenette was well supplied for cooking simple meals and making coffee/tea. While small, the space is very well organized and does not feel crowded. There is plenty of space to store your luggage, and any beach/winter accessories.
It only took a few minutes by car to reach the main street of East Hampton, or Main Beach, all off of Route 27. If it isn't snowing, you can even take a leisurely walk or bike ride to each area. You have plenty of options for beaching, dining, entertainment, and shopping!
Belinda was a wonderful hostess, as she checked in frequently to make sure we had arrived safely and that everything was ok. She gave us some excellent recommendations for food and coffee in the area, which were all very close to the cottage.
We definitely recommend Belinda's cottage for a quiet and cozy weekend in town. We plan on staying again once it gets warmer!
We thoroughly enjoyed our Winter getaway to Belinda's guest house this past weekend. The place is the definition of "cozy". It's small but cute and has a super comfortable bed. It was perfect for the two of us plus our dog, who really enjoyed running through the large yard. I have no hesitation in recommending this spot.
Listing description was accurate. The location was excellent - just around the corner from the town of East Hampton, and near the road to Sag Harbor, and an easy drive to the beach, Montauk, and other places. The hosts were not on the property, but they helped make us feel welcome by leaving the lights on (we arrived at night), leaving the heat on, and leaving us some chocolates.
We had a great time at Belinda & Gavin's guest cottage. The space was cozy, clean and beautiful. Very close to town. Beautiful in winter, and we can't wait to check out the area in spring/summer. (We also recommend going to Almond for dinner!)
We had the most lovely time in East Hampton staying at this little cottage. For my husband, and our two animals, it was the perfect size to enjoy a getaway from the city in a cozy, cute and clean space... with a huge yard that our pup absolutely loved playing in. Our host was so great and made everything accessible to us and even made some great recommendations on nearby restaurants. Couldn't have been a better vacation.
While we enjoyed ourselves overall once we got into the cottage, “getting there” and back to the parking lot was much more trying and arduous than your description ever suggested. My wife had a terrible time walking safely given her need to use a cane to walk. Nowhere was it mentioned in the description that it was a thirty-yard walk over grass covered with leaves. Nowhere was the property cautioned to not be suitable for handicapped people. There was so little solar lighting that worked that we sought out a flashlight to see our way safely. But the flashlight in the cottage did not work.
We feel the description of the property did not “fully” explain the challenges that one might experience given certain physical limitations. To us, it turned out to be far less a value than $175/night. If one were told this property was not suitable for handicapped people, we never would have stayed there.
Since this is the first negative review I have received out of more that 70, I must say that I am very surprised. With regard to the walkway from my driveway to the cottage, the path had been raked just the day before your arrival but there came a big storm hence the leaves blew back. There was no way for me to know your wife was challenged. Had you communicated that to me, I would have discussed and described the property to you more fully and perhaps we would have concluded that this was not the best choice, having said that, I was in the main house the entire time of your stay and repeatedly in person asked you how things were. You never answered me. Had I known there were any issues, I would have addressed them immediately. Especially something as easily solved as a non working flashlight. I have a large supply of batteries in my house and would have been happy to give them to you if you had only asked. In conclusion, your offer of "no negative review" for a partial refund was disconcerting. Needless to say, that request was not granted.
Lovely small and simple space was perfect for a long weekend away. Great location: a short walk away from the village and spots to eat, and about the same distance to the beach.
Hosts were very communicative and helpful, and logistics were easily managed.
