Our cool and comfortable Efficiency Apartment has undergone some updating and renovation without losing it's old-style Keys charm! Enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom, sitting room and most especially the view!
The Efficiency is constantly undergoing upgrades and renovation without losing it's old-style Keys charm and decor. The space consists of, as you walk through the front door which faces the beautiful Gulf of Mexico: A small sitting room with couch, coffee table, TV and DVD player, followed by a queen bed and full kitchen and sizable restroom (although the shower stall is narrow). Full water view, private patio table/chairs and barbecue provided. A little quirky and a little funky ala old-style Keys, but very clean, very comfortable, very "homey"!
Private patio with table, chairs and barbecue. Kayaks, snorkeling gear, bicycles provided at no charge. Shared laundry facilities, Bocci Court. Sailboats available for separate rental.
Interaction with Guests
We interact as much or as little as our guests request. The only other guests you will encounter on this property are those renting the other two available units on the property.
It's a little slice of paradise, nestled in coconut palms, papaya trees, and sea oats. It's very quiet, peaceful, relaxing and secluded.
Free parking included.
Other Things to Note
Lots of natural flora and fauna like herons, egrets, iguanas, barracuda, parrot fish, needle fish..... :-)
Please take your shoes off and relax.
Kevin and Dana were great hosts – very helpful! We really enjoyed being a bit off the beaten path in Islamorada. The location was perfect for day trips to Key West and to the Everglades. We also had a great time kayaking, reading on the pier, and relaxing in the water. Thanks!
Kevin and Dana are excellent hosts! They are super friendly and take really great care of the property. They property has a few other Airbnb rentals on it, which provided a great vibe and laid back atmosphere. The Efficiency is bigger than it looks in the pictures and felt private, safe, and clean. Overall, how can you go wrong with a beautiful property with private access to the water and plenty of water toys to use (for free!). If we go back to the Keys, we are definitely staying here again!
We've been to commerical and tourist filled Key West, but this time we wanted to have more of the original, authentic and funky Keys experience so Islamorada and Best of Both Worlds was just the right place for us. Very reasonably priced. Loved the colorful and eclectic decor. If you're looking for fancy this is probably not for you, but we had everything we needed in the efficiency; storage space, great shower pressure, comfortable bed, separate sitting area, overhead fan, ac, patio table and an incredible view and location on the Gulf. And we weren't sharing it with dozens of guests, just a few friendly folks. Felt very private. Snorkeled with parrot fish, had breakfast outside by the sea, played tennis on clay courts a couple of minutes away (for a fee). Appreciated not having to rent bikes or kayaks. Great meal on the beach at Morada Cafe watching the sunset and more than 1 meal at Lazy Days. We second all the praises of previous reviewers for Kevin and Dana's attentiveness and suggestions. Highly recommend!
What a wonderful time we had for our second trip to Kevin & Dana's beautiful piece of paradise. We love this place and hope to visit again. Thanks Kevin & Dana!
Kevin met us upon our arrival and immediately gave us a tour of the property. It is beautifully situated right on the Gulf, yet very shaded. The location is south of the town of Islamorada, avoiding much of the traffic of that area, yet giving easy access to the Lower Keys. The unit was very clean, and had all the utensils we needed for our stay. We enjoyed using the kayaks located just a few feet from our door.
Kevin and Dana were in the yard working when we arrived. They immediately stopped what they were doing, gave us a warm welcome and a detailed tour of the grounds and our efficiency. They also suggested wonderful restaurants, things to do and advice on Key West and fishing.
"Best of Both Worlds" was the right choice for us -- Lower Islamorada is really ideally situated half-way-ish down the Keys, and we greatly appreciated the comparative quiet and serenity of the site. First and foremost, Kevin seemed patient with what were probably far too many questions, and offered a wealth of comprehensive answers with much-appreciated advice about the local "thing". Dana went above and beyond to help make our third honeymoon memorable with some special, pre-arranged touches ... thanks again, Dana. We were in the efficiency for just over a week. Believe me, being well-away from the Overseas Highway is a blessing. Our room was comfy, utilitarian, with a great bed, and felt reasonably private. Our neighbors immediately adjacent were quiet as mice (or mouses or meeces or mooses.) Considering that the property is relatively narrow, we rarely even heard sounds from neighboring properties. Our hosts obviously work hard at keeping the place neat and clean. While "Best of Both Worlds" seems slightly dated, and has some slightly worn passage-of-time edges, you're definitely in the Florida Keys, and there's a groovy funkiness that worked great for us. The seawall and little boat basin are the prize. Even tho the weather could have been better, we really enjoyed being out on the bayshore, gazing into the superb beauty of the Bay. We had a sweet paddle on one of the kayaks, and took a bit of sun when the W-I-N-D wasn't pushy. Stepping back from man's overwhelming influences and getting as glimpse of the natural beauty of the Keys is a gift on this narrow archipelago. Having the toys available to stay out of the car is a great bonus and should be taken advantage of to enrich your Keys experience. We did the Key West thing, we did the glass-bottom boat at Pennecamp thing (surprisingly enjoyable, for a cattle-boat), we did the tarpon-feeding thing, and, perhaps the most profound, the bird rehabilitation center up the road, and the sea turtle hospital down in Marathon. The efforts of the folks so deeply involved in these endeavors will certainly tug at your heart-strings ... One thing that we found a bit strange was the perceived caliber of the dining establishments we sampled in the Florida Keys Tourist Paradise: lunch at Habanos (several times) was the only leisurely dining experience we had. Every place else, no matter how "fancy" or "high-brow" (read: expensive) was rush-rush-rush, get 'em in and get 'em out. Not exactly my expectation for fine dining. Anyway, back to "Best of Both Worlds" -- enjoy your visit. It just feels genuine! Thanks to Dana and Kevin for keeping it real.
