Super spacious apartment in the historic center of Salvador, Brazil! You'll be a five minute walk from night life, yet will appreciate coming back home to this low-key neighborhood and quiet street. Plus, walking distance from the World Cup matches at Fonte Nova stadium.

Here, your rent will include all utilities and household expenses, including high speed internet. Use of the washing machine is available for an additional contribution.
Here's the deal: the apartment is three floors. On the first floor is a suite, the second has two bedrooms, and the third is the covered roof deck - breezy and beautiful! Let's start there: from the terrace you'll enjoy a great view of the city, and can use the washing machine and grill. You can also hang, have dinner, stretch, exercise, knock yourself out! The access to the terrace is through our bedroom, which we keep open almost all day to ensure guests can access the roof.
Downstairs, the private suite is super comfortable and has a private bathroom inside. You'll also have shelving, clothing racks, a ceiling fan and a normal fan. The kitchen small, but decked out with all the pots, pans and utensils you'll need. Fridge space and shelf space, too. If you're not into cooking, you'll still love the big kitchen table in the dining area.
There are two living room spaces: one downstairs at the entrance of the house and one upstairs that sometimes serves as a room. They are both fairly breezy and have comfortable seating and hammocks.
The outdoor spaces are also really special. One small patio area opens out from the first floor, and is home to the washing machine, two bathrooms and a little garden. Storage space is also available there, should you need it. Then upstairs is the covered roof deck - the best space for hanging clothes, enjoying the view, all that.
Now that you know the apartment, let's talk about the neighborhood. Santo Antônio is next to the famous historical center of Pelourinho, but it's much quieter and less touristy, so it's a great place to come back to. It is a quiet area with beautiful, old buildings and some of Salvador's best hotels and inns. Ours is a small and humble side street with a great community of neighbors.
One side of the neighborhood looks out over the bay, so you'll have plenty of chances go out for delicious food or a cold beer while watching the sunset over the water, or seeing all the lights of the bay and lower city at night.
Finally, you will find most of what you need here in Santo Antônio. There are bakeries, supermarkets, bars and restaurants, and bus stops all in the area. But careful, on Sundays many things in Brazil close early or don't open at all.

We spent 2 nights at Julia's place. It is very conveniently located, 10 minutes by foot from the Pelourinho. The room was clean, and we could use the washing machine for free.
Unfortunately, the house was being painted at the time we were there, so it was no very convenient. But the house is huge and has a great potential.
Although Julia was away for the Holidays during my stay, her boyfriend Fuca provided me with a very warm welcome. He was always happy to have a small chat or a drink.
The room is advertised. I especially enjoyed the terrace on the roof. There's a nice view over the neighbourhood and always a nice breeze.
I can highly recommend the place.
Julia's and Fuca's house is an incredible nice place to stay. It is beautiful, quiet, spacious and Julia and Fuca are fantastic hosts. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to discover Salvador and looks for a relaxing and beautiful home.
Julia was a great host. She and her partner Fuca were very welcoming and friendly from the day I arrived. The room was clean and spacious. I felt very relaxed and at home in their place...I spent most mornings in their sun room on the hammock. They offered advice about places to see and eat in Salvador and always checked in to see how my visit was going. Julia was especially helpful in giving me travel tips when I was planning a trip outside of Salvador - it was a highlight of my stay! I even met a few other travellers through Julia which was a nice opportunity to speak English and meet people from other countries.
If you're looking for an at home, down-to-earth place to stay, I would highly recommend staying here. I had lots of personal space, unlimited access to the kitchen and great advice for any questions I had about getting around and visiting. Julia spent time in Salvador as a visitor before making it her home so provides a helpful view on the city for travellers.
Staying at Julia's for 5 nights has been a wonderful experience. She has been a very welcoming host, and I liked the moments we shared with her and her extremely sympathetic boyfriend.
The house is very pleasant to live in. Wide colonial-style openings that let the air breeze through every room spare you from the outside heat and connect you to the live around you. Although there are several bathrooms you can use in the house, having a private one attached to the room was definitely a plus.
Pelourinho, the most touristic area in town, is a 10 minute walk through nice streets. I had a chance to be there for a big and free concert night, with a performance by Gilberto Gil, the famous singer and composer, and one by a 40 year old batucada.
When I come back to Salvador, I will certainly go back at Julia's!
An excellent stay. Julia´s house is conveniently located a short walk from Salvador´s historic center. She and Fuca were great hosts and made me feel at home. Looking forward to coming back!!
Sometimes when living with others in their own house it's easy to feel a little bit in the way, but Julia and Fuka are so warm and relaxed that I immediately felt comfortable and welcome. I wish I had more time to hang out with them because they are such great people, but we were all very busy. I also really appreciated feeling like I had my own space and privacy, the suite is a good size and the ensuite bathroom very convenient. The house itself is awesome - it's old with great features like a beautiful upstairs terrace accessed by a winding staircase, awesome floor tile and a great mix of indoor/outdoor space that felt very "Brazilian" to me. This also means that there are a few adjustments to make when living in an older house, such as the plumbing being a bit unpredictable. The bathroom connected to this room has a minor sewage smell that Julia is attending to. The internet was less than great for my first three days but then was almost flawless after that. I stayed for 3 weeks. When I first arrived the neighborhood of Santo Antonio felt a little worn down and gave the impression of being a little edgy and unsafe. But this was an inaccurate first impression. The neighbors are very friendly and the little street felt like a community by the time I left. If you are looking for an authentic Salvadorian experience a little removed from the tourism of the pelourinho but still close enough to the action, this is the place. If you are looking for warm hosts who are very welcoming but also respectful of personal space, this is the place. If you are there when Fuka makes barbecued shrimp on the terrace, count yourself blessed by the candomble gods - I think it was the best shrimp I've ever had.
I highly can recommend staying at Julias home. It is in a good walking distance from the old town and also by night i felt safe to get home lonely after Samba nights. The whole house has a lovely bahian charme. You have excellent Wifi everywhere, you can use the kitchen, the roof deck with a great view, you can even sit on the roof, and the washing machine. Julia and her husband are very friendly and they really want you to have you a very good time while staying there. They assist you if you need to. i really enjoyed my time in Bahia and this place was the right to be.
Julia and Fika her boyfriend were quite great hosts, always friendly and informative. The house is clean, ample and well placed. Completely recommended!
Staying at Julia's place was great. A very nice and clean house and close to the night life of the Pelourinho area. Julia and Fuku were so nice and invited us to a BBQ at the roof terrace. As well we enjoyed a nice evening with them at a Jazz festival.
I certainly recommend Julia's place if you want to stay in the old centre of Salvador, but not straight in the middle of the noisy nightlife. It is just a few minutes walk, but as well you find some nice restaurants just around the corner.
