Our spacious and simple house is located in Salvador's lovely historic center. The house has many common areas, outdoor and indoor, where you can relax + enjoy the weather here. You'll be a short walk from wonderful cafés, bars, and views of the bay.
Super spacious apartment in the historic center of Salvador, Brazil! You'll be a five minute walk from night life, yet will appreciate coming back home to this low-key neighborhood and quiet street.
**Note: Please message me before requesting a reservation so I can answer all your questions!**
Here, your rent will include all utilities and household expenses, including high speed internet. Use of the washing machine is available for an additional contribution.
Here's the deal: the apartment is three floors. On the first floor is a suite, the second has two bedrooms, and the third is the covered roof deck - breezy and beautiful! Let's start there: from the terrace you'll enjoy a great view of the city, and can use the washing machine and grill. You can also hang, have dinner, stretch, exercise, knock yourself out! The access to the terrace is through our bedroom, which we keep open almost all day to ensure guests can access the roof.
Downstairs, the private suite is super comfortable and has a private bathroom inside. You'll also have shelving, clothing racks, a ceiling fan and a normal fan. The kitchen small, but decked out with all the pots, pans and utensils you'll need. Fridge space and shelf space, too. If you're not into cooking, you'll still love the big kitchen table in the dining area.
There are two living room spaces: one downstairs at the entrance of the house and one upstairs that sometimes serves as a room. They are both fairly breezy and have comfortable seating and hammocks.
The outdoor spaces are also really special. One small patio area opens out from the first floor, and is home to the washing machine, two bathrooms and a little garden. Storage space is also available there, should you need it. Then upstairs is the covered roof deck - the best space for hanging clothes, enjoying the view, all that.
Guests in our house have access to all common spaces. We have three outdoor spaces as well as a sun room, living room, and breakfast area for relaxing in the house. Guests have free access to wifi. We provide towels and sheets, and can provide shampoo, condition and soap upon request. We ask for a 25 reais contribution per load to use our laundry machine.
We live in a neighborhood called Santo Antônio, which is an historic neighborhood with restaurants, galleries, cafés and the feeling of a small town. It's next to the famous historical center of Pelourinho, but it's much quieter and less touristy, so it's a great place to come back to. It is a quiet area with beautiful, old buildings and some of Salvador's best hotels and inns. Ours is a small and humble side street with a great community of neighbors.
One side of the neighborhood looks out over the bay, so you'll have plenty of chances go out for delicious food or a cold beer while watching the sunset over the water, or seeing all the lights of the bay and lower city at night.
You will find most of what you need here in Santo Antônio. There are bakeries, supermarkets, bars and restaurants, and bus stops all in the area. But careful, on Sundays many things in Brazil close early or don't open at all.
We live within a short walk of public transportation that can get you to almost every part of the city. We have a transfer available from the airport to our house (and vice versa if you'd like) with a driver who's worked with us for a long time and knows the house well. If you're interested, please send your full flight info!
Rules here are pretty basic. Mainly, just enjoy your stay and all of the great spaces in the house! The other things are as follows:
- Please, no friends/guests in the house.
- No big late night noise.
- Keeping the kitchen tidy is a must.
- Help us to be conscious of resources! Please ALWAYS turn off fans and lights before leaving the house. Check and double check faucets to make sure they're not leaking.
Julia and Fuca are both magical human beings. They are extremely kind, gracious hosts and have a heavenly property that they generously share with their Air BnB guests. It is truly an honour to stay with them while visiting Salvador. The location of their home is perfect! A safe and yet unique part of the city, walking distance to the pelourinho. There are plenty of beautiful restaurant, cafe, and bar options close by and after a busy day exploring you can return to the peaceful and rejuvenating household.
Salvador has found a place in our hearts forever and that's in large part because of the opportunity to stay with Julia and Fuca. Thank you for everything guys.
I joined Julia and Fuca for almost three months during the time of my internship in Salvador da Bahia in Brazil. Both are very kind and helpful persons. Especially Fuca is a very hearty person and always positive, what made the stay a lot of fun. The house is super clean and both are great decoraters. So, every room in the house is really special and different from the other ones. As well they have a lovely dog and a cat to cuddle. Sometimes they took me around the city to join them for some festivals, what was really kind. As well I met their lovely friends for Christmas. The location of the house is next to Pelourinho, the Historic Center. Therefore, the neighbourhood is really central and charming with all the street art and music festivals.
As I booked the place, the price was highed and I got an other room. But the room was really nice and the place is definitely worth the money. Therefore, I recommend you to join both:)!
I stayed at Julia and Fuka's for about a month (but was only there for about 2 weeks) and had a great stay. The house and private suite were exactly as described, although if you're looking to be close to Salvador's beaches this is not an ideal location. The neighborhood is safe and there are several grocery options nearby, as well as good restaurant options nearby on Rua do Carmo.
An amazing house with lovely warm welcoming people, the house is in a great location in a beautiful city
Our (en suit) room was clean and roomy with everything we needed, but we also had full use of the rest of the house which had a kitchen, living room, washing facilitates and a beautiful balcony room overlooking the local area
Julia organised our transport and we were met at the airport by a driver who also collected us at 4am to leave
Julia and her husband were very welcoming and made us feel completely at home, we had a few questions and even when they were not around they quickly answered by email
A highly recommended place to stay :-)
Loved our stay with Julia and Fuca during the World Cup. It was the highlight of our trip to be able to be part of their community and be part of the Sant' Antonio neighborhood for the weeks that we were in Salvador! They engage their guests as much or as little as the guests desire. We had a blast!
Wow! My partner and I rented a room for 2 weeks and would go back again in a heart beat.
What an absolutely perfect place to stay in Salvador. Just a 10 minute walk from the Pelourinho and out of the craziness so you can kick back and relax when you want to. The roof top is such a nice place to sit and hangout. Your room, the kitchen and bath rooms have everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Julia and her partner Fuka were such welcoming hosts. Eager to help and share information about the area, introduced us to a number of their friends including the gorgeous Aida! And always made sure we were having a great stay.
This was our first stop on a year long adventure and it couldn't have been more perfect.
Thanks again Julia and Fuka we hope to cross paths with you guys again one day.
We loved our stay with Julia and her partner Fuca. The location was great, in a very friendly and safe neighbourhood and just a stones throw away from the Forte de Capoeira and the lively Pelourinho. The house had all the comforts one could need including a great open balcony and hammock room. What really topped the place off was Julia and Fuca, who are two fantastic, welcoming and pure spirited people. Thank you for sharing your home with us and we hope to see you again some where!

Hello and welcome! I am a New Yorker, living in Salvador for the past few years now. I coordinate a bilingual language program in an elementary school on the other side of town, and have a small translation company. Fuca, my husband, is from here and works in education as well.
We love coming back to our neighborhood after work to relax, enjoy the view, cook at home and have a beer at some of the awesome bars and restaurants around. We are a low-key couple, but love getting to know our guests and getting people together in our home.
We really enjoy sharing all the places and lesser-known points of this city with our guests as well. Just let us know what you are interested in an we will try to connect you with it!
