If you have a late departure flight, we recommend reserving the condo for an additional night so you will have the use of your accommodation all day and depart at leisure.
We were disappointed in both Sarah McClendon as a host as well the unit itself. First, Sarah had promised to meet us upon check-in to ensure ease of entry and that we had everything we needed. She asked us to call her when we were on our way and when we did she gave haste instructions (complicated) and said she was no longer able to meet us. We had some issues with the lock and key (very old) and ended up having to get in touch with her assistant for help. When we eventually entered the apartment, we were a little taken back by how it appeared vs. what we had booked through the site. The unit was very old I.e. furniture, bed mattresses lacked support, kitchen counter was full of knife marks & cigarette burns + supplies were very minimal, air conditioner vented onto balcony making it hot, noisy & unpleasant (unusable). The biggest issue we had was the fact that upon checking in it was revealed that the swimming pool and surrounding grounds were unaccessible due to repairs. Given that when we were looking for accomodation we considered having a pool to be a key amenity we were very disappointed. In addition, having booked with Sarah 5 months prior to our arrival, we couldn't believe we weren't notified of this fact in advance. On the bright side, she understood our dissatisfaction and agreed to refunding us, which were extremely grateful for -- and very appreciative. With a little TLC this would definitely be a top notch rental unit as the location is AWESOME -- right in the heart of Waikiki. Furthermore, this unit comes with parking, which is such an amazing attribute, as you don't have to worry about your vehicle or have to pay expensive valet costs that come with hotels.
For a family with 3 small kids, a good kitchen is essential. That there was an actual bathtub was another plus.
All the kitchen utensils and appliances we needed were there. The washing machine (coin-operated) was at the end of the corridor. Furniture was not very new but functional.
The apartment had good views of the sea and Diamond Head. Very nice if somewhat small lanai. It is a 3- minute walk to Waikiki stores and restaurants, although a supermarket is 30 minutes walk away. You need a car so the free parking is handy. As is the wifi.
Sarah told me there will be a airbed twice before we arrived. But the airbed was actually there when we arrived. We had to sleep on the sofa couch in the living room which is almost broken for sleep. Had a very bad first night sleep. The next morning, Sarah delivered the new airbed upon request with pillows and new quilt. This was not a good thing but after that, things are good overall. It is a nice condo with all the basic needs for vacation stay. The knives in the kitchen is hard to use but other than that, everything is fine. Good location, clean, convenient, like the pool on the 6th floor. Thanks Sarah.
Perfect location if you want to be in the heart of Waikiki without the hustle and bustle if the Main Street. Short walk to the beach along the Waikiki Strip it you can walk about 10 minutes to behind the canal and find the most amazing authentic Hawaiian food.
The room is dated but all you really need as you are not staying in Hawaii
to spend the whole day in the room.
Pool area is great but was confused as to weather we were allowed to use the rooms towels.
As the residence is private you cannot use the hotel reception to hold your bags but we found a fantastic guy who held out bags for the day (once we had checked out) for. $5 a bag.
convenience store at the bottom of the apartments has laundry powder as there is a laundry on the floor. Also food can be bought from Safeways. (5 min taxi ride) but is quite expensive .
Would definitely recommend others to use this if a large family (we had 6 of us) or small - suits all.
Condo is in a great location and it comes with a parking pass and wifi. Although we were always out exploring the island, the space accommodates 5 people comfortably. Sarah is wonderful as she is quick to respond to any questions and give out local pointers.
Overall the condo is in need of a basic upgrade- the pull-out couch in the living room is too worn to sleep on when pulled out & the toilet didn't work as it leaked our entire stay. It flooded part of the carpet on our first night, fortunately it was very easy to communicate with Sarah. She did send someone to stop the leak, but from reading the prior reviews the toilet just needs to be replaced since it continues to not work (had to use lobby bathroom). This was not enough to damper our stay; we love Oahu!
Appartement très bien situé, à un bloc de la plage, et tout proche du centre de waikiki. La place de parking est un avantage. Nous avons passé un très bon séjour dans l'appartement de Sarah. Seul bémol, des travaux de rénovation (bruit énorme) de la facade dès 8 heures du matin jusqu'à 16h pour nos 2 derniers jours.
Located in Waikiki near the zoo. good location. and the parking pass is a plus. The unit is in need of some basic repairs. The toilet was running when we checked in and was running the entire time.
The bedding was old and didn't fit the beds.
Not sure we will return to this unit.
