The Space

Your room is on the main floor, along with a common space, kitchen and shared bathroom. We sleep downstairs so your stay will be very private. The house was recently renovated with beautiful details: exposed brick and beams, granite counter, tiled bathroom and the best part.... our own washer and dryer (very uncommon in NYC).

We love books and built two large bookcases full of Christopher Hitchens, classic and contemporary literature, travel books and more, all for your enjoyment!

Your room is cozy and very quiet. Super clean. A full size bed, ample closet space, full-length mirror and a charming desk (we made with reclaimed local wood!). Most importantly: heat and an A/C unit.

Clean sheets and towels
New York City maps
Coffee and tea
Good vibes

Wi-Fi, Apple TV, Netflix, free street parking on our block, washer and dryer, fully-stocked kitchen, radiant heat and A/C.

Happily living together since 2012

Mike: I currently work in television production at a studio here in Brooklyn. In my free time I like to spend time outdoors, explore new places, ride my bike, run, play music and consume copious amounts of NPR (Radiolab especially). I also enjoy cooking and sharing a good meal with friends.

Diego: I'm originally from Uruguay. I work at the United Nations while trying to figure out my professional future and hacking my education. I love movies, books about atheism, Etta James and any type of food. I'm currently training for the 2014 New York City Marathon.

Guest Access

Guests have access to all the common areas: kitchen, bathroom, living room and laundry room. We like people to feel this is their home too, which means guests are welcome to cook, watch TV, relax in the couch and play music.

Interaction with Guests

We love to get to know our guests but also respect privacy and space. We both work normal business hours, so you will have the place to yourself during the weekdays. In the evenings we love to cook good meals, put on a record, read or watch a good movie. We always welcome others to join us!

The Neighborhood

Greenpoint is a quaint, residential neighborhood, home to many Polish families and young artistic types (see the HBO show "Girls" for a completely accurate depiction of the neighborhood). Very safe and pleasant. We are two blocks from McGorlick Park and ten minutes from McCarren park: one of the coolest outdoor hangouts in Brooklyn. A gigantic public swimming pool is open in summer.

Within a short walk are tons of cute cafes, local and vintage clothing stores and excellent restaurants and bars. If you prefer to cook at home, there is a supermarket, liquor store and 24-hour gas station within a 2-block radius.

We are also a 15 minute walk from the heart of Williamsburg - the most trendy neighborhood in New York! The attractions there are too numerous to list, but googling Williamsburg, Brooklyn will give you a good idea :)

Getting Around

There are two subway options to get you to Manhattan (or anywhere else in NYC). The L train at Graham Avenue is a 10 minute walk. From there, it's only a 10-minute ride to Union Square, the hub of downtown Manhattan. Alternatively, the G train at Nassau Avenue is also a 10 minute walk and will take you to southern Brooklyn (Park Slope, Carrol Gardens, etc) or north to Long Island City. The always-exciting NYC bus system is also nearby if you're feeling adventurous.

Other Things to Note

We share an adorable, friendly, fun dog with friends, so he is here every two weeks. He's a toy fox terrier. Super quiet, well-behaved and will sleep with you if you ask him to.
