This place is unique because it borders open space/jungle and lava rock wading pools/tide pools. DRAMATIC COASTLINE for WHALE WATCHING from your deck, and a large POOL for doing laps. There are hot ponds nearby and a Lava tree state park and the VOLCANO national park for day trips and hiking close by.

so I cannot guarantee weather, water or air temp in February….the pool temp depends on how much sun we get
water warms up (not quite as warm as july-sept temps) after consecutive sunny days.

I was swimming in Hilo bay on sunday and water there was quite warm as there is a large shallow area, and also,
there is a HOT POND in Kapoho, both areas are 20-25 minute drive in opposite directions to us.

we are adding solar panels but have not installed yet, not sure if would be added before your arrival.
The French couple who left a few weeks ago swam every day , at NIGHT!..

you can jump into hot tub and go back and forth for an invigorating and healthy back and forth for exercise or just fun.

the big island has quite many pockets of warmer water at various snorkel spots due to geothermal springs at the kapoho area, as well as Mauna Lani Bay by hotel
the place of refuge another hour further, a popular tourist attraction as well as the two steps entry for dolphin swims and snorkeling.
you can also snorkel in hilo bay where we always see at least one turtle if not 4-5.,,photo of the bay on our website

  • Let me start by saying that this was not our first time on Maui (or second for that matter) and have had the pleasure of staying in different parts of the island and different places. That being said, this location is great, it offers great access to all areas, while being quiet and private with great views and away from tourists (yes, I know, we are too...). The place is spacious, clean and airy, with a big kitchen and great sunset view. All instructions from Nida were very clear, she was always ready to assist and help whichever she could.
I wish we knew she had a place also on the Big Island, we would have definitely stayed there.
We would strongly recommend the place for anybody who wants to see and explore Maui, not a tourist resort.
