Our 1847 Greek Revival home has easy access to Norwich Univ., Montpelier, Sugarbush, Mad River & Central VT. 1 to 4 guests can enjoy two private upstairs bedrooms and bath. Share the rest of the house with us and enjoy a cozy wood stove or the deck.
We're two world travelers and artists who love to meet new people. We work in education and as advocates for people with special needs. Our house is a beautiful 1847 Greek Revival, and we're looking forward to sharing it with you!
We have two upstairs bedrooms; both with double beds. Private bathroom with tub that the two rooms share. We only host one group at a time so if you are using one room, the other will be empty. The first bedroom is $55 a night for one or two people. The second room is available,to people in the same party, and the cost per night for either one or two people in that room is $35. If you would like to have two rooms we will do a special offer so you can reserve both rooms for $85.00 a night.
You will feel right at home with lots of books and paintings on the walls. We will need to coordinate kitchen use, but the living room, sun porch or back yard deck are always available. You can explore the barn if you want!
Our mailing address is Northfield, but we are really in Northfield Falls. It is five minutes to Norwich University in Northfield, twelve minutes to Montpelier, fifty minutes to Burlington, thirty minutes to Sugarbush and Waitsfield.
There is a restaurant/pub, country store, and three covered bridges just across street. A few minutes away is a grocery store, hardware store and pharmacy. In Northfield there is a Subway, breakfast spot, sandwich store and Irish pub.
Montpelier is the state capital and home to the New England Culinary School. There are many great restaurants and cute stores plus the capital and other buildings of historic interest.
No smoking inside, one very friendly dog, and one cat that will not come out from under the bed. A lint roller is highly recommended. WIFI is available.
We are happy to share the living areas of our house. For the kitchen, we just need to make a workable arrangement for all. We have a beautiful back yard that you are free to use year round. (we have extra snowshoes)
We will be present at the listing. You can interact with us as little or as much as you like. We enjoy meeting people and hanging out, but can also give you your privacy.
With a car, our neighborhood is convenient to ski areas, shopping and the big city of Montpelier. We are centrally located and not as expensive as staying in the ski resorts. There are some beautiful drives from here, Montpelier, the capital, has movies and great restaurants. Hope Cemetery in Barre is an amazing display of granite carving.
There is a commuter shuttle bus to Northfield or Montpelier in the morning and late afternoon. It stops across the street and is $1:00 each way.
If you don't like dogs, you don't want to stay with us. Our dog is very friendly and gets depressed when people don't like her.
Jim and Jeneane were perfect hosts. Don't pass up Jim's breakfast; it is a treat! Great people and conversation.
we really enjoyed our overnight with jeneane and jim in their awesome mid-1800s solar farmhouse. we had fun, inspiring conversations about world travel especially cuisine :) i could definitely live this way!
I stayed with Jeanane and husband Jim for 10 days while I attended a writing seminar in nearby Montpelier. My private suite was just what I needed and owners were extremous hospitable and generous.
Un séjour agréable chez Jeneane Lunn. Une maison d'artistes chaleureuse et accueillante. Les hôtes aiment recevoir et nous avions même envie de rester un peu pour discuter !
Fantastic short stay here on my way through Vermont. Excellent hosts that accommodated my earlier-that-anticipated arrival - & gave plenty of tips of things to go & see. Plenty of travels stories shared over great food. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay & slept soundly too.
Jeneane and Jim were really kind and friendly hosts. We had an upstairs bedroom with a very comfortable bed and a nice big bathroom all to ourselves. We enjoyed the cinnamon rolls and Jim's beautifully made cappuccinos for breakfast. The location was great, quite central in Vermont, which allowed us to take day trips in different directions every day. This is a very artistic house, and both Jim and Jeneane are fascinating people. We very much enjoyed hearing interesting stories about their lives. We also appreciated all the helpful tips they gave us about the area. They also have a very sweet and loveable dog, Angie. We highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit Vermont.
Like most others' comments here, we truly enjoyed our stay with Jim and Jeneane. Unfortunately, our time with Jeneane was short because of her work schedule; she seems like a genuine person.
The house was welcoming. We had everything we needed: a cozy bed, clean linens, fresh towels, a warm shower. We were even fed cinnamon rolls from a local bakery - and they were tasty. Jim's coffee making skills were top notch, too: steamed milk over espresso prepared us for our day!
It was a joy meeting both Jim and Jeneane, and they are wonderful hosts.
Jeneane & Jim were very gracious hosts. We very much enjoyed learning about their world travels. Our daughter was thrilled with a "Sound of Music" sing-along, picking apples in the backyard, spending time in the relaxing hammock, and playing with Angie, their gentle dog. Thanks to Jeneane & Jim, we will treasure our time in the Green Mountains of Vermont for years to come. Quite simply a wonderful experience.
Jim & Janeane were great hosts; very friendly, informative and uncomplicated. They made us feel at home. Jim was a very good tourguide (thanks a lot for showing us some very interesting spots). We enjoyed coffee and cinemon rolls for breakfast and tasted the best corn ever for dinner. Five stars for Angie, the dog :-) We miss you allready.
Our stay at Jim and Jeneane's place was great. Jeneane was away so we only got to meet Jim. He helped us tremendously with getting around town and even waited outside with us, making sure the cab company picked us up at the right spot. Jim had fresh coffee and tasty breakfast treats ready for us in the morning. Overall a comfortable and easy stay for a great price. The dog was very friendly but be prepared for some dog hair, nothing a lint brush can't fix though ;)
