This house is a calm, friendly launching pad for outdoor activities nearby and visits to the University of Maine, or trips to the coast, including Acadia National Park. Orono is a classic small Maine town, and this house is right at its heart.
Our house is right across from Webster Park in Orono, Maine, near the small downtown and within walking distance of the university. We have comfy beds, two woodstoves, and a few Maine Coons, and a medium dog who is available for walks and trips if you are so inclined ;-).
Make yourself at home in our comfy New England shingle cottage.
We are within walking distance of the UMaine campus and downtown Orono. Acadia, Baxter State Park, and Katadhin are nearby. In good weather, you can borrow our Old Town canoe and go out on the water. In winter, take our snowshoes and hit all the beautiful forest trails around Orono. Read Sarah's guidebook to the area: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/803038/guidebook/edit
Guests can access the whole house, with the exception of our bedroom of course. We do our best to be accommodating!
Interaction with Guests
Interaction depends on guests' inclination to be bothered/chat and our level of business. But we are always friendly and available for information and advice.
Other Things to Note
We do our very best to be attentive friendly hosts, but we both have full-time jobs and are not always able to respond to inquiries right away, though we'll do our very best.
Please do not 'drop by' without having confirmed a reservation. We live in a residential neighborhood, and are prevented by local code from having drop-ins.
We usually do not accept reservations for only one night.
My stay with Sarah and Justin was my first experience using Airbnb, and it was perfect for my needs. I was traveling alone and a bit apprehensive but they were warm and inviting. I needed a location near Umaine and it couldn't be closer and convienient. Instantly felt welcome and was comfortable coming and going at my leisure. I would defiantly book this again on my next trip to pick up my daughter at college.
What a lovely weekend in Orono! Sarah's home is a luxurious feast of colors and textures while simultaneously neat, clean and organized. My 78-year old mother and I felt completely at home. I look forward to my next opportunity to visit my son at UMO.
Sarah was fantastic, the house was fantastic. We just loved her style in furnishings and felt right at home. We almost packed up her new "puppy" to take back to MA with us.
It's not just the riverfront home that's adorable: its residents are too. Sarah, Justin, and their three cats warmly welcomed me in such a natural and easy-going way that I immediately felt at home with them - and felt like I was leaving home when I left. I had some special needs that Sarah went out of her way to accommodate, and to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. I wished I could have stayed longer.
Life is good indeed when your path leads you to Sarah's door. I was warmly welcomed and shown around her lovely home before she had to leave for meetings in town. The neighborhood is quiet and safe with a view of the river across the way. The room was very comfortable with everything one needs for a restful night. She provided a great breakfast before sending me on my way. And I mustn't forget her wonderful Maine Coon cats!
Thank you Sarah and Justin for a most enjoyable visit.
