Up to four guests including children over 12 can stay in this fine 5* apartment.
First, I must point out that this apartment is not suitable for families with children under the age of twelve and such enquiries may not be accepted.
That said, this is a spacious, one bedroom, ground floor, self-contained flat in an 1860's period conversion with many original features, high ceilings and all new furniture, fixtures and fittings (2012), in one of London's most desirable boroughs. And, just a few minutes walk away from Olympia's Exhibition Halls and 15 minutes away from London's West End by underground. Accommodation for up to 4 with double bed and, in the sitting room, a double size sofa-bed, both with fitted or flat sheets and duvets with a choice of down or hollow fibre pillows. Two single duvets can be provided if required. Fully equipped kitchen with fridge and freezer, washer/ dryer, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, filter coffee maker, gas hob and electric fan oven, bathroom with bath and shower and hotel-style toiletries, bathroom scales, towels and facecloths and electric extractor fan. A hairdryer and multi-point plug adapters are also provided. Fully furnished with central heating, satellite HDTV and DVD player. FREE WiFi and pre-loaded Pay-as-You-Go Nokia mobile phone with UK SIM card for local UK and national calls.
This apartment is not only suitable for Business people but also Romantic people (business people or otherwise!) and is Family friendly but only those with teenagers. The apartment is pet free, never knowlingly having cats or dogs resident or guest.
Check-in Welcome Pack is provided including some basic foodstuffs, bottled water and a bottle of wine or beer and other goodies! Host will modify the selection if guests have any dietary issues (Vegan, nut or grain allergic), to be taken into consideration.
The apartment houses a small collection of books, (including some in French donated by a guest!), DVD's and magazines for guests' entertainment together with guides to local attractions and some further afield, tube maps and bus routes. Your host is usually on hand to help vacation planning, advice for restaurants, excursions and travel arrangements.
13B is very close to mainline trains, tube and bus routes connecting to Central and West London. Not far away is the M40 to Oxford and the Cotswolds, M4 to Heathrow, Windsor, Bath, Bristol and the West Country and the M1 to Birmingham, the Midlands and the North (20 mins) and, of course, to the famous Kensington High Street.
Westfield Mall and Shepherds Bush Green shopping and banks are a 5 minute walk away. There is a corner convenience shop (open 0800 to 2300 7 days), laundry/dry cleaning (open on Sundays and will home deliver), celebrity hairdresser and Italian (Cibo) and Lebanese restaurant (Alounak) all of 200 yards away, both with a substantial reputation.
Although Holland Park's summer opera season is now over, Leighton House is a few minutes walk away with Kensington Palace and Gardens and the Royal Albert Hall further down Kensington High Street. The Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum, and the Science Museum are just a few stops away with the Brompton Oratory and Harrods a few more in Knightsbridge. And for ice skaters, in winter, as well as at the Natural History Museum, there are two more rinks - one at Hyde Park Corner's Winter Wonderland and the other at Somerset House at Aldwych, both on the No 9 bus route.
For lovers of Royal history, Kensington Palace, the new home for Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge, George and Charlotte, Buckingham Palace and the Queen's Gallery are at the end of a short bus or tube ride from Kensington High Street (Bus no 9 or 10) and not much further on is the Royal Academy in Piccadilly, and the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square (Bus route no 9). Westminster with the Abbey and the Houses of Parliament are accessible by tube from Kensington High Street as is the Tower of London and other historical sites further east. There are a number of bus tours around London, which you can hop on and hop off as you wish as well as guided walks to see some historic sights and sounds by day and night, some of which start in Kensington.
Summer or winter the River Thames offers a splendid way to see the London's sights. A river boat from Westminster Pier to Greenwich, the home of the National Maritime Museum, the Cutty Sark and a thriving market is one of the most popular experiences. Saturday's Portobello Market in Notting Hill is a stiff walk or an easy bus ride from the apartment, while further afield Camden Market and Petticoat Lane are both easily accessible.
Other historical sites include Hampton Court, Syon Park and Kenwood not forgetting, for lovers of plants, Kew Gardens and the Physic Garden in Chelsea. The Geffrye Museum is a fascinating experience for those wanting an insight into London's housing and Camden's London Jewish Museum provides a historical background to the Jewish contribution to British life with many conferences and exhibitions. And for young and old alike, do not ignore the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green - fascinating!

AND never forget to buy your Oyster Card for the most inexpensive way to get around by public transport - but always ask what is the best option for you and yours about which will be the best value package for your stay. Andyou might want to use one of Boris's Santander bikes. There are two docking station within a five minute walk from the apartment. They are not free but a good way to get some execrise and see London.
Elsham Road is a quiet, tree-lined street (see the photos not thstreetview which is of the Holland Road) without free parking except at certain times during the evening, at weekends and on Public Holidays. Some short term Parking permits are able to be purchased from the local Kensington & Chelsea Council offices. Parking at Westfield, Shepherds Bush has reasonably priced over night parking, currently less than £10 per night.
It is a perfect location for anyone attending public or private sports events, business shows, fairs and art exhibitions at Olympia (400 yards) or Earls Court (1 mile) - see their (eco. co. uk) events page for dates.
Cleaning and fresh linen and towels are included in the standard price but for a stay of 2 weeks there would be an extra charge for cleaning and fresh bed linen but only if requested.

Entrance from communal hallway to self-contained apartment for exclusive use of guests. As required one or two sets of keys will be provided at check in, usually by me, but occasionally an appointed third party. The whole apartment is entered via a communal front door and access to the street.
Interaction with guests
At checkin and checkout and as required by the guests in between. I live in the apartment underneath so I am on hand for any eventualities. Pre-checkin, by email, text or phone for any information and advice from guests regarding potential arrival times - very important to ensure a timely welcome and not to be left on the doorstep. To enable the host to meet guests at the apartment for checkin, guests must send a text or email to the host on commencing their last stage of their journey. This may be taking the train, underground, coach or taxi from an airport or railway station. If driving by car try to guage when about 30 minutes from arriving at the apartment.
The apartment is within easy walking distance of the Kensington Olympia Show Halls with major transport links and Westfield Shepherds Bush, one of the best retail malls in London, not to mention Kensington High Street, Knightsbridge and the West End. It is in one of the mid-Victorian converted terrace houses on Elsham Road, a one-way residential tree lined street with predominantly residential parking along its length. Think House and Garden in terms of furnishing and feel.
The nearest underground and mainline station at Kensington Olympia is 5-8 minutes walk away and the nearest bus stop is three minutes walk away. Both give easy access to all parts of London as well as the Home Counties for those who wish to explore further afield. For instance, Wimbledon is about 25 minutes away by London Overland from Kensington Olympia and District Line from West Brompton; Excel is 30 minutes away by underground, the nearest taxi ranks is either at Shepherds Bush, a five minute walk away or at the southern end of Russell Road at the Hilton Hotel.
Other things to note
Although Elsham Road is a quiet residential road, Holland Road on the other side, where is situated the bedroom, can be busy most of the time. In spite of triple glazing, this has been noticed by one or two guests but they have been understanding and it has not resulted in any major disturbance to their stay.
Checkin and checkout times can be flexible if discussed in advance of arrival. At the request of other residents at 13 Elsham Road, pets are not allowed and, sorry, no children under 12 and no smoking, either in the apartment, building or garden. Because of the length of time of the washer/dryer programmes, the washing machine cannot be used after 2100 hours. The garden on both sides of the communal footpath to the front door is also out of bounds. Sorry to have to point that out but the view of the garden is yours to enjoy.
Cleaners are employed to prepare the apartment for the next guests, for which there is NO EXTRA CHARGE! The washer/dryer is not to be used after 10pm.

For my own R and R holidays, I like to cruise, preferably on smaller ships such as those with Windstar (Wind Surf, Star Pride) and Oceania (Insignia, Nautica). So far, I have traveled from Singapore to Phuket, several times in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean; South America and Cape Horn, the Falkland Islands and through the Panama Canal to Nicaragua and French Polynesia; South Africa, Namibia and Mozambiquewere were followed last year on my first river cruise on the Rhone with Scenic. But, if I were to choose my favourite place to holiday, it would be on the Cote d'Azur near Cannes. The delights of places like Biot, Mougins, LaNapoule etc never fail to disperse my stresses!
