Lisel was really hospitable! We checked in a little late but she settled us down really quickly and showed us around her place :) the room looks exactly like the ones in the picture. The common kitchen is free for all to use!
Do you remember those days when you were backpacking through Asia/Europe/South America etc and you stayed at a really cool hostel? This is what Lisel's place remember me off . Everyone was lovely. There are a lot of shared facilities (bathroom, kitchen etc) and you can come and go as you please.
Staying with Lisel was great.
The house is really cool and the room is super convenient and private because it is right as you enter the front hallway.
We had 2 big comfortable beds.
There are all kinds of extra amenities in the kitchen - and a relaxing back porch.
It has a great location - 2 minutes from Gorilla Coffee and a 5 min. walk from the Barkley Center and the Metro!
I miss it already!
Lovely room in a beautifully decorated home, large enough for our group of three. A pleasant location with shops and restaurants nearby. Would be pleased to come back.
I visited with my husband and teenage daughter. We really enjoyed our stay here. We were comfortable in the bedrooms and enjoyed the pretty colors, art, and books around the house. We relaxed on the patio, and met other guests. It was nice talking with the host, who does interesting things with her life. Thanks for a nice haven in busy New York.
Lisel was very welcoming and flexible in accommodating our large party (10).
The neighborhood was very pleasant, easy to access cafes, bars and various shops and stores on foot, plus there's a little mall and a few subway stations nearby. The area is also very green and quiet.
The host was nice and accommodating. The apartment will be awesome for voracious readers, basically every wall is full of books. The facilities are all in working order. The place was clean though a little cluttered, which I personally like. One negative point or maybe a tip for future travelers - if you're a tall person, and you're sleeping in the extra bed / cot, ask the host about its exact dimensions and decide accordingly - my body adopted by the second night ;) Because the place is big, you can usually expect a few travelers, so that gives you a sort of privacy through numbers, which is also something a lot of people would like. If you want to socialize with the host or boarders, there are common areas with usually some interesting people to talk to.
