Resort style living in the city
Whether you’re in town to explore the city, experience the nightlife, catch one of Melbourne’s many sporting events, attend a business event, visit friends or just relax by the pool – this is the ideal place to base yourself.
Regardless of whether it’s for three nights or one month. A modern two bedroom apartment located in a resort style complex (complete with pool, spa, gym and tennis court) right next to the city in the heart of the Arts precinct; the Arts Centre, Melbourne Recital Centre, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, National Gallery of Victoria and the Malthouse Theatre are all within a very short walking distance. And the heart of the city and the heart of South Melbourne are both just a walk or short tram ride away.
Along with the central location and great atmosphere of the village-style complex, the apartment has many features:·
2 bedrooms - With a queen sized bed in each. There also a single mattress which we can set up to accommodate a 5th guest.
1 bathroom, with separate toilet·
Large balcony overlooking central courtyard·
Patio at rear of apartment with large outdoor dining table and BBQ·
Kitchen, which you are welcome to use for cooking – and continental breakfast ingredients are provided·
Washing machine and dryer·
A very large screen TV and a few DVDs, just in case you want to spend some time on the comfy couch
We also have some great recommendations on things to do and see during you stay.
To begin with, here are just a few suggestions for things to do nearby:·
Go for a walk or run around the famous ‘Tan’ track, just two minutes away·
Stroll into the city for some shopping (or take the tram, which stops right out the front of the apartment complex)·
Walk just 5 minutes to the Southbank promenade and try out one of the many restaurants along the river – or try your luck at the Crown casino·
Head to the South Melbourne market for delicious fresh veggies, meat and deli products! (10 minute with tram, 20 minutes walking)· Brunch at one of the gorgeous cafes on Coventry Street in South Melbourne (10 minutes with tram, 20 minutes walking)· Check out an AFL or cricket match at the MCG (just a 15 minute walk away)
Emma and Dave looked after the apartment for me when my daughter Kate went to Europe. I am now in a position to look after the apartment myself.
I have 2 other apartments in this complex which may be available, and also an apartment right on the river, opposite the Melb Convention Centre with a river view. Check them out, if you click on 'more about the host' under my photo, then open my full profile and you will find links to my other listings. Or look up (website hidden)
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the property or the area.
Basically there is a 3 night minimum, but where there are 2 nights free between other bookings I will let it for the 2 nights.
Definitely no smoking, and a need to respect the neighbours with regard to noise and behaviour. I want guests to be able to relax and enjoy their stay. Would appreciate the rubbish being put out in bin enclosure next to garage gate on Sturt Street.
Please be mindful that this is not a hotel and we expect you to leave the apartment reasonably clean and tidy.
Located really close the centre , cultural district and nice gardens of Melbourne, a great city. The appartement is OK. One feels it's not a private house anymore. It has no soul.
Wifi is quite standard in these days but was not available.
We were there in a cold rainy period (thank you for the umbrellas) so the pool etc were not attractive but should have been on warmer days. Availability of a parking could be convenient if you bring a car.
Altogether we had great days in Melbourne. There might be cosier places to stay but it's surely an acceptable base to explore this city.
Pauline made us feel extremely welcome and the directions to the actual apartment were succinct. The location, impressive. It was less than 400 m from the Victorian Arts Centre - short stroll to Flinders/Swanson Sts, Crown Casino and easy to walk to MCG. The apartment had a homely feel; pantry and fridge were suitably stocked. Laundry facilities fabulous. Great place to stay for our 10 day vacation!
Wow is all I can say, we went to Melbourne for a girls weekend and was only 10 minute walk to the heart of the city, 5 minutes to the casino. Pauline made us so welcome and the place was quite big. I know you do not know me but I would stay there again and will do.
Pauline is a fantastic host, very helpful and accomodating. The apartment is right on the Tram Line (can be a little noisy at night when tram goes past), a 5 min walk to St Kilda Rd (more trams), 10 min walk to Southgate, 10 min walk to Fed Square/Flinders St Station and right on the Sky Shuttle hotel stop - great location.
The apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Living room is spacious, kitchen and rooms compact but comfortable. Large bathroom with over the bath shower and a washing machine and dryer. There was cereal, bread, milk, tim tams and various other items left for your use. Pauline also has a folder with travel/melbourne info in it for you as well.
The Apartment is right near the secure entry door which can be a little noisy when other people are coming and going, there is also a construction site at the back of the apartment. It is not noisy but the lights from one of the cranes shines straight into one of the bedroom windows and its quite bright all night.
I would definately stay at this apartment again and recommend Pauline as a host. We had a a wonderful stay, thank you
We had amazing time in Pauline's house. The apartment is very nice with all the comforts and in a very central location!! Pauline was very helpful for all our needs. If I have to say just a little flaw is that the "included breakfast" for 4 people 3 nights stay was 1 litre of milk (full cream TASTE), margarine(..sorry but for Italian people this is unacceptable :).. cereals and bread.. But no problem! The shop is only 4 minutes walking!!
We had a very pleasant stay in Melbourne. The apartment was very conveniently placed to visit the major attractions and met all of our holiday needs. Thanks to Pauline for a wonderful stay.
I have always stayed in hotels and it was my first experience with airbnb. I am happy that I did it and sure will do again. Pauline made it an excellent experience with her flawless instructions.

About the Host, Pauline
I love to travel, and have a daughter married living in Switzerland and another daughter in the tourism industry, so there is always an excuse to get away. Eating out, going to the movies, the spring racing carnival are other events I enjoy.
I aim to provide people with a comfortable retreat in a central location, so they can enjoy all Melbourne has to offer.
I look after a Resort in the City, A Resort in the City 2, A Resort in the City 3 and Melbourne River Retreat. I look forward to communicating with you about your forthcoming holiday, and helping to make it a great experience.
