About this listing
Our house Casa Rural El Recuerdo is a traditional old house, typical in Extremadura, which has been carefully restored to maintain its construction in stone and vaulted ground-floor ceilings. Most of the rooms have original tiled floors. We have decorated the house with beautiful old furniture and many attractive features.
You will feel at home, relaxing in the sitting room with its library and bird prints; having a meal in the dining room, where once wine was made; or resting in the individually decorated en-suite bedrooms, each with the name of local trees: Olivo , Higuera , Madroño , Encina , Membrillo, Almendro, during the summer you can enjoy the swimming pool!
We do not have televisions in the guesthouse.
Wifi available .
Casa Rural El Recuerdo is an ideal base from which to visit may of Extremadura´s finest attractions like Trujillo, Caceres, Merida and Monfrague National Park.
We do also offer personally customised birding holidays.
Wonderful place, very peaceful. We enjoyed our short stay at Claudia and Martin's place. So many birds, a true paradise retreat.
El Recuerdo is a tremendous place to stay! The area is beautiful, the house and rooms extraordinary. We only stayed here for one night, but we were sorry to leave. During the citytrip we made in Spain this was an oasis of peace and quite in an area with very nice nature parks. The food (we had dinner and breakfast) was great, host Claudia very helpful and sweet ánd the way she has decorated her house is incredible!
Highly recommended; beautiful house in stunning countryside, comfortable rooms and a generous breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice.
About the Host, Claudia And Martin
We are Martin and Claudia, and we met on the banks of the River Amazon. Martin was studying birds in a national park and Claudia was completing her practical in a university course on tourism, by helping to establish the park’s visitors centre. Since then we have lived in many countries: England, Colombia and India and now Spain, accompanied by our son, Patrick. After a lot of hard work, our Casa Rural (Guesthouse) was open to visitors in 2005. For us it is very special to share our home with guests who come to explore the beautiful wildlife, culture and history of Extremadura, with its unspoilt landscapes, its spectacular natural history, its traditions, as well as its wholesome and delicious rural cuisine.
