  • Hitomi was an excellent host and her place was very comfortable to stay in. She was kind enough to make dinner for us and was very helpful in providing advice on where to go in Kyoto and the surrounding region. Rooms were very spacious and the house was very clean. I would highly recommend her place to other travellers!

  • Hitomi! What a highlight for our trip. Hitomi was very patient with us as we were trying to practice some Japanese. She taught us new words and knew enough English to convey a lot of information (super helpful - like which trains to take. She also recommended we visit Uji which was a great call). Best part - she fed us amazing meals every night. So good to come home to a delicious meal after a day of sightseeing in Kyoto or Nara. We had a great time with Hitomi. By the way Hitomi - happy birthday again!

  • Hitomi's house was perfect. Just 20 min by train far from Kyoto's central station, on the Nara line, the same line to Fushimi Inari Shrine, it is really practical when you have the JR Pass. The neighbourhood is very quiet. The house is on a hill, so you have quite a beautiful view on the aera. I could enjoy the sunset on the hills. Hitomi is very kind, a good cooker. She's helpful if you need. A very good stay at Hitomi's place.

  • Hitomi and her daughter are so lovely. Their place is a short walk to JR Kohata station. Being picked up on arrival from the train station is very helpful as I have been traveling and doing site seeing prior all day. The food was lovely. I only stayed there for 2 nights but it had everything of what I needed for my stay. Thank you Hitomi for having me!!!!

  • Good for the price and for cultural exchange with other guests but I don’t recommend this apartment if you like cleaning places or try to stay just 1 or 2 nights as we made.

Hitomi house has only one bathroom that you share with 5 people and the most important thing you have to know is that the shower and the bathroom are very dirty. There is a mess everywere. My husband preferred not to take a shower and one night we found dirty slip on the floor.

Fortunately the guests we met were very nice people and we loved so much to talk with them.
Hitomi is not interested in cultural exchange with other people. So forget to know more about japanese culture. She will give you a guide with some ‘house rules’. She doesn’t seem like happy to share informations and talk to you as you read in Airbnb presentation.

Another negative item: we called Hitomi when arrived at the train station but Hitomi didn’t pick us up. It was not so easy to find the way to the house.

  • There is only one toilet and shower for more guests in our case, for six people.

  • Hitomi is a gracious hostess. She knows how to use (website hidden) translate when necessary. Renters should know that her home is like a boarding house with several rooms for rent, so you may not be her only guest. She did not pick me up at the train station as stated on the website, and I got very lost trying to find her house. Fortunately people in the neighborhood were very willing to help. This place offers good value for the price, but was not a good choice for me. The bed was too hard for my arthritic hips.

  • 5 mins walk from JR station. Very nice house.

  • Hitomi was a great and fun host, lot's of laughs. She answered my first call from the station near her house when we arrived and picked us up within minutes. Her house is a very short walk from the nearest station. Make sure you take the local train as the rapids skip her station. Easy to see though from the signs posted at the stations. Her house is just a few train stops from the Inari shrine. And does not take very long to get from her house to Kyoto station.

Our first night at Hitomi's we got to have a meal she prepared, talked and watched TV together for a bit. It was definitely the most "at home" experience I had during our 3 weeks in Japan.

Our room was a little cold (and I'm usually just cold anyway), but there is a heater in the room- so problem solved. Would definitely like to visit Hitomi again next time we're in Kyoto. Thank you for having us! ^ _ ^

  • Hitomi was such a sweet and welcoming host! She speaks little English but if her daughter is around, she can answer any questions or converse with you. Hitomi's house felt like home quickly. You are free to come and go whenever you please and she can also have dinner ready for you if you come back on time! Her place is a quick 5 minute walk to the Kohata JR station and about a 10-15 minute ride to Kyoto. I really appreciated the convenience yet distance from the business of Kyoto. I would definitely stay here again or recommend it to a friend! Thanks for the hospitality, Hitomi :)
