About This Listing
You won't know you're in the middle of town here even though a few minutes walk will bring you to the main street. The studio is tucked away amongst trees in a lovely garden. Clean, comfortable and well-equipped, No.12 is the perfect private haven.
Cosy studio apartment with private outdoor area, right in town in a quiet street, only a few minutes' walk to shops, cafes, the river and the Karri forest and 10 minutes' drive to the beach.
The studio consists of a spacious, light-filled room with a comfortable Queen bed, ensuite bathroom, dining area and kitchenette. Sliding doors open onto a sunny, fully enclosed deck with outdoor setting and BBQ.
The studio is attached to the main house but the common wall is sound-proofed and the living areas of the owner's rooms and the studio are on opposite sides of the house allowing privacy for both parties!
Entry is via a path that meanders through a delightful native/cottage garden. Guests are welcome to make themselves at home in the garden - there are plenty of sitting nooks, a pond, lots of birds and a bountiful vegetable patch. Pick a salad to go with your BBQ if you feel like staying in!
The climate in Margaret River is generally temperate with cool nights so air-conditioning is not necessary, however there is a ceiling fan in the studio and an evaporative air cooler for those (very) rare times when it gets too hot!
The studio caters for 1-2 guests only. There is no provision for children or extra guests.
Guests have access to the entire garden and are invited to enjoy it. Please help yourselves to salad greens and lemons only from the garden.
Interaction with Guests
I live on the property and am usually around. I am happy to chat or not as you prefer.
The studio is in a quiet street which ends at the Karri forest. There are many walking tracks through the bush and the river is 5 minutes away. The beach is a 10 minute drive from the house.
There is no public transport in Margaret River but there are daily buses between here and Perth, taxis, and a car hire. Off-street undercover parking is available for guests.
Other Things to Note
No.12 is situated close to the Margaret River and a nature reserve and is surrounded by garden. There are lots of small native animals in and around the premises and occasionally some of these attempt to move in or take shelter in the roof space of the house and studio. We have tried to close off access points to the roof but new ones can always be found - or made! - and once inside the animals can be noisy, especially at night. Most of these critters are very shy and you will never see them and I will always let guests know if any have moved in (it can take a few days to move them out again!) and if you are uncomfortable with this please let me know and we can make other arrangements.
We hope you will enjoy our garden - please feel free to wander and relax in it.
Western Australia is very dry and hot - there are water restrictions in place. Be aware of the time you take to shower and if you can bear not to FLUSH every time that would be wonderful!
We do have a high fire danger too so please be careful with candles, etc.
The house is solar powered so make sure you do not leave lights on unnecessarily or when you go out.
Absolutely NO SMOKING.
The apartment was lovely, just like what you see in the pictures! It was clean and cosy and has the basic things that you need to have a really good stay! It has a very nice garden where birds would come in the morning! Though Peta could not receive us personally as she was away, it was really nice to receive a personal welcome note from her! We received a complimentary wine as it was our honeymoon trip and we thought that was really nice as well! The location of the apartment was very good. It is close to the city centre and there is a Woolworths just down the street! Exploring Margaret River from here was easy given it's central location. Would definitely recommend anyone who is visting Margaret River to stay here!
We had a lovely stay in Margaret river at No.12. It was located close to town so we could walk in for dinner etc. The studio had everything we needed and its location made touring around the region so easy!
No. 12 is perfect. Upon arrival(guided by Peta's clear and concise instructions on getting there) we were simply, blown away by the beautiful and well looked-after garden. The studio itself was equipped with all the essentials one could ask for when on vacation - and I feel I must make a special mention, it was also extremely clean - everything looked so polished shiny, neat and in place, with seemingly zero speck of dust!
Glad to have had the chance to meet with Peta, although briefly, before she left for Melb. Thank you vm again, for hosting us Peta, and taking the effort to make our stay such a lovely and comfortable one. Hope to be back to visit soon! Take care.
No12..... Out of 10! What a great little place to stay. It's private enough for a couple to spend the days on the deck or sitting in the lush, well maintained garden. It's so close to the bush track for a stroll along the Margaret River and close enough to the centre of town too.
We arrived just on dusk as Peta and Zac were collecting firewood. The greeting was warm and inviting and the setting is just lovely!
We stayed 2 days and only saw Peta once more to ask a few questions to get to know her. The accomodation is very well appointed with all that a couple needs for a short or longer trip. Even beach towels and chairs hidden in the trunk at the end of the bed. I've not played chess with my partner before but, enjoyed a few games over a lovely glass of local Sav Blanc while the rain and wind whistled outside.
Thanks Peta for accomodating us. We will surely recommend No12 to our friends and fellow travellers... Oh and Btw the Margaret River region is amazing too!
Cheers Simon & Elisha
Brilliant location 10 min walk from the centre of Margaret River. The studio is exactly as pictured, coming in off one of the most impressive backyard gardens I've ever seen! Communication leading up to our stay was great with easy directions to find No. 12. Peta was a brilliant host, extremely welcoming and friendly and has created a studio with love and attention to all the little details; we didn't want for anything. We'll stay again when we're next in Margaret River. Thank you, Peta!
The studio was beautiful, clean and had all the amenities we needed in Margaret River. The studio was right near the Woolworths and centre of town. Peta and Zak were great hosts and we really enjoyed our stay.
Great place, perfect location near the town centre and set in a lovely garden. The studio is well appointed and makes for an ideal Margaret River break.
About the Host, Peta
I'm the plump(ish) silver-haired lady knee deep in compost and wearing frightful old clothes out the back. You'll see me out there when you come. I read, garden, cook, walk, sing and am happy to chat - or not. I am learning to play the fiddle - I will improve! I hope you enjoy my garden and the beautiful South-West as much as I do.
My co-host, Zakky, is a large golden lab who loves company and food and is so laid-back he's almost horizontal (well, actually he is most of the time). He helps in the garden if he's up to it.
