The local public bus is inexpensive and stops just outside our gate with service every 30 minutes from 6am - 7pm, then hourly until the last bus at 10pm. Taxi service is available 24 hours-a-day and can be flagged down anywhere on the road. We also have on-site parking.

Other things to note

Guest reviews on Trip Advisor consistently rate their stay with us as excellent. Coyaba Tropical is a fully restored Spanish Colonial property located near the road to Manuel Antonio National Park which is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Costa Rica. Rooms at front of the property have been renovated to minimize ambient noise with new windows, doors and mini-split A/C Units with the compressor mounted outside for quiet operation, however for guests who are sensitive sleepers we are pleased to offer complimentary earplugs. We also have two Superior rooms which are at the rear of the property, each room has one Queen size bed and private Garden Terrace overlooking the Pool area. Please contact us for pricing and availability.

We really enjoyed our stay. The property was lush with tropical plants and lighting surrounding the pool and spa. The owners Mike and Paul and of course Marlin were wonderful hosts. A+++++

Good points according to us: - Very friendly people (Marlon, the guy who is employed there, was particularly nice and always very helpful) - EXCELLENT breakfast (homemade dish that changes every morning). A real pleasure :-) - Small but very cute swimming pool, clean, nestled in a quiet and beautiful garden, good atmosphere in the pool area (a little bit of well chosen music). We had very good time relaxing there. Bad points according to us: - the room was too small (no real bathroom) for the price - the bed was small - our room was badly located, very noisy due to its proximity with the main road of Manuel Antonio that carries very heavy traffic at this peak season. Even with the ear plugs, we could hear as soon as 6 am the noise of cars, motorbikes and trucks... Forget about late sleep in the morning. We did not sleep well and were happy to leave because of this... It is a pity because I had concern about this well in advance and had asked for a more quiet room...). Global opinion: Overpriced (184 euros per night) in our opinion, even in this peak season of end of year. For about the same price, you can find (we were able to find) much better in our sense (bigger room, bigger bed, more comfortable room and above all much much more quiet...). Quite disappointed.

Response from Mike:
Good morning Stephane, we are glad to have had you stay with us, but also disappointed that your room was not satisfactory. The semi-Deluxe that you booked is our smallest and least expensive room with a double-size bed, and also closest to the road... however we would have gladly moved you into a different room with larger Queen size bed next to the pool at no extra charge if there was one available. Unfortunately Christmas week is the busiest time of the entire year in Manuel Antonio when many local Costa Rican families come to enjoy the Beach/National Park... and this results in considerably more cars and Tour Bus traffic on the road than normal which is beyond our control. In reply to your comment about the nightly rate... we regularly compare our Peak Christmas season rates to be competitive with similar properties in the area that also offer guests a quality stay in a "boutique hotel" experience.

Coyaba Tropical B&B was our introduction to the many wonders of beautiful Costa Rica and what an introduction it was. Mike and Paul are the perfect hosts, welcoming and mellow, while unobtrusively tending to every one of needs and all other details with grace and kindness. They have created a gloriously landscaped and relaxing tropical setting under a jungle hill, with a lovely pool and jacuzzi for ironing out the kinks after hours spent exploring the environs of Manuel Antonio. Mike set us up with a great guide for the park and we saw "muchos animals" through her spotting scope, fabulous. Paul's breakfasts made of fresh local ingredients were delicious and substantial. We especially liked the fried plaintains. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and lovely. The local bus service between Quepos and Manuel Antonio stopped across the street and it was unbelievably cheap and reliable rendering a car unnecessary. Try Z restaurant right next door for a good meal and attentive and friendly service. Best of all we always felt like we were coming "home" after our daily adventures. My husband and I give our highest recommendation and most sincere thanks to our wonderful hosts at Coyaba Tropical B&B.

This is the 2nd time I have stayed here. Mike and Paul are continually improving their B&B. It was already perfect the first time I stayed but now with a pool and jacuzzi, it is even more so. They are great hosts and the breakfast is amazing. I will be staying here every time i come and visit Costa Rica. For going to Manuel Antonio, there is no better place to stay.

Response from Mike:
Thanks for the compliment Kurt, it was a genuine pleasure meeting your wife and daughter on this visit. It has been very satisfying to see each phase of our project coming together... with more changes coming towards achieving our vision. We look forward to seeing you and your family again when you come back to Manuel Antonio.

Mike and Paul moved here from Toronto 8 years ago to share the knowledge of our extensive travels around Costa Rica as tourists, as well as offering guests a cozy "home-stay" experience. We specifically chose the name "Coyaba" which celebrates Paul's birth country of Jamaica and is a native Arawak Indian word meaning "place of tranquillity of peace". Coyaba Tropical B&B - Adults Only is located on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. We are just 2.5km from Quepos Centro, conveniently located on the main road to Manuel Antonio National Park. We welcome you to come and experience a fusion of Canadian/Jamaican hospitality that reflects our heritage countries and hope you will enjoy staying with us as your temporary home away from home.
