Guest Access

You have everything you need right in your space - although the kitchen is limited to a microwave, coffeemaker and mini frig. Who wants to cook in this city of amazing food?! There are beach towels and chairs, your own thermostat, hairdryer and toiletries and an iron and ironing board. We're never far away if you find something we've missed!

Interaction with Guests

We love to meet you all but we try not to get in your way. As you let yourselves in and are self sufficient, some times we don't run into each other. It's a simple phone call if you have any needs or questions!

The Neighborhood

Harleston Village is diverse, fun and historic. Just blocks from the middle of all the sights, sounds and tastes of Charleston yet clearly a residential neighborhood. Serene Colonial Lake is just over a block away and perfect for the late evening or early morning stroll before getting into the serious business of wandering.

Getting around

There is a fun little trolley in town that is or is nearly free although walking is always the best mode of transport in Charleston. The pedi-cabs (human powered bicycle cabs) are abundant and always around when your feet finally give out!

  • I truly enjoyed my stay at Rob and Laurie's guesthouse. Everything was exactly as described and I couldn't have asked for a better location or accommodations. This is definitely a gem in the city. Laurie quickly answered my numerous emails regarding things to do in Charleston, and I was lucky to meet both her and Rob who even provided me with a ride back to the airport enabling me to learn even more about Charleston. I'm looking forward to returning to Charleston and hopefully staying in their guesthouse.

  • I was in Charleston for a conference, and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Parking, a reasonable per/night cost, a bottle of wine, coffee, filtered water, a comfortable bed, a lovely patio, and walking distance to MUSC - what more could one ask for? :-) Laurie and Rob were most gracious hosts, and readily available in case I needed anything. Next time I am coming to Charleston, I know where I will be staying!

  • I had a great time at Rob and Laurie's place. They were super accommodating. I got there before official check-in, but they allowed me to leave my suitcase so that I did not have to lug it around town with me.

The room is fantastic! I don't know what they wash the sheets in, but they smelled really good. :-)

I would highly recommend Rob and Laurie's place to anyone considering staying in the Charleston area.

  • We had a great time! Thanks!

  • We stayed there in early spring. The Apartment was very private in a beautiful section of Charleston. We had a garden seating area off our room that was out of "House and Garden". We were a quick 10 minute walk to the downtown. Enjoyed talking to Rob, he gave a great recommendation for breakfast. Would definitely return and stay here.

  • Or stay at Rob and Lori Kramer's home was perfect. The place was perfectly situated, beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, Great coffee, and wonderful hosts. I can't wait for the next time that we visit Charleston. It will certainly include a stay at the Kramer's home.

  • A great experience. The apartment was tidy and clean and everything was just as described. Although we arrived early Rob graciously let us in and gave us advice about Charleston. The next day Rob and Laurie even gave us a ride to downtown in the rain. We love walking and this location is ideal for strolling to town or just down the streets of Charleston. An A-1 experience.

  • Rob and Laurie are brilliant hosts. Their apartment is small but had everything we needed. The place is quiet and well maintained. The location as well as the whole city of Charleston is great for people who travel by car.

  • Rob and Laurie's apartment was perfect - close to downtown but very cosy. It was very clean and perfect for two people. I would definitely recommend it. Laurie was very attentive and got back to us right away when we contacted her. We hope to stay again!

We've recently retired from our business and are now enjoying sharing our home with guests while we restore our old sailboat. Laurie loves to cook, entertain, exercise and wander Charleston. We're both avid members of Dragon Boat Charleston. We have two grown children who also live in Charleston. We've been hosting guests for over four years and look forward to adding you to our list of satisfied customers!
