A hostel, first and foremost, and bits have changed since the photos were taken...but all in; great location for seeing the old Montevideo, so close to many museums, the ferry port...and round the corner from Café Brasileiro, one of the finest coffee shops in the universe.

Located in the old town which made sightseeing during the day convenient. Not much open at night for restaurants. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Fair value, well kept accomodation - Private room: spotless, a bed with a soft mattress and a small closet, good for one person (Other rooms may be bigger. For two people, my room would have been a bit narrow.) Traffic noise during the day but, there is hardly any traffic at night. - Shared bath room: functional, clean, towels are provided - Common kitchen/area: I didn't use the kitchen/area but, it looked well organised and clean. There would have been space in the fridge. - WiFi: ok - Staff: friendly - Location: 5 min walk to some cafes and restaurants, 10 min to the ferry. The neighbourhood and the old town itself seem to have seen better days. There is probably a lack of money for renovations what is sad because there are a lot of houses with potential for being very nice.

Look, to be honest I didn't even end up staying there but treated myself to an upmarket hotel. It was not at all what I was expecting. It was much shabbier than the pictures and in a sketchy area. As a single female I didn't feel particularly secure. The cleanliness was not up to par (but I'm particular about that sort of thing) and there were flies everywhere. There is not much going on in the area where the hostel is, not many restaurants etc. I will say that Louis who works there was just lovely and I would have loved to hang out with him some more!

Great experience staying at this Hostel. It is an older building, but very clean and well renovated. Most of all, the hosts are very warm and welcoming. Within walking distance of the Port if you come in through Buquebus from Buenos Aires. The neighborhood feels fairly safe, and inside the hostel I felt right at home. If your interested in looking for long term housing in Buenos Aires, this is the perfect place. This hostel has more permanent residents than weekend guests and you'll surely feel in good company there long term. Isabella was extremely welcoming and helped me know where I should go around in the city and even invited me to join her and the other residents for drinks and a night out. It was a great weekend. Would definitely return.
