We cook you breakfast each morning and we are available all day to help with tours, info about our area and restaurants. We can also lend you snorkel gear and beach towels.
We are located in a quiet and friendly neighborhood. We are walking distance to the beach, the Sunday farmers market, a bank with ATM, restaurants, beach bars, corner store's, a fruit and veggie stand and a local butcher. Almost all fruits, meats and cheese are organic from local farms. There are always fishermen walking around town selling their fresh catch of the day and others selling chilled young coconuts called pipas.
The public transportation in our area is really good. The bus is usually on time every hour on the half hour. We have a bus stop only a 3 minute walk from us. The bus goes all the way down the coast to Manzanillo.
Please smoke on your private balcony or anywhere outside, thanks so much!
I have lived in Costa Rica before, so I knew going in there are many less than desirable locations to stay in, and I was a little nervous since this was our first airbnb experience. I was relieved of any stress in about 30 seconds upon seeing this place and meeting Jessica. She met us exactly on time, walked us through the keys, shower, schedule for breakfast and was very welcoming. She also gave some great advice on where to go in town to eat, buy bus tickets, and how to get to the national park. This place is very clean, off the beaten path but not a bad walk to the beach and town, and my wife and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we make it back to Cahuita. The only improvements we could think of might be some darker curtains for more privacy and the wifi is spotty. Although the curtain thing is minor and if you are worried about streaming netflix next to a Costa Rican beach, you are doing it wrong. Oh and Gabor made some delicious french toast. All in all a fantastic way to start our trip!
We had a really nice week staying at Jess and Gabor's place. The spacious studio we rented from them was just what we needed to feel comfortable in Cahuita. The fans in the ceiling kept it nice and cool and the hammock on the balcony was a plus, much appreciated and mainly enjoyed by our two young children! The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom were equipped with everything we needed and both Jess and Gabor were really helpful and wonderful addressing any other needs. They were happy to recommend where to go, refer us to places and give us their insight to make the most of our holidays. We really enjoyed their yummy breakfast and the nice chats we had with them. They are really interesting people, fun to talk to and we really felt we were among friends. Their son, Gavin, is adorable and our children liked playing with him and having him around too. We feel really grateful to have found such a clean, nice and well located place to spend our time in Cahuita and we couldn't have found better hosts. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone without a shadow of a doubt.
We were very pleased to be at Jessica and Gabor place. Both of them were very friendly, communicative and flexible. I could not have expected a better place to stay in Cahuita. If we came back to costa rica, we will try to arrange a longer stay here. Thanks again Jessica, Gabor and baby Gavin
We had an amazing time at Coconut Love. It was quiet, beautiful, and calming. The reliable wi-fi and great breakfast were particularly nice factors, but the whole place was simply rejuvenating. It was so nice to wake up to bird and monkey sounds and then have an amazing and delicious breakfast upstairs watching birds and the neighborhood.
Jessica and Gabor were both very helpful in arranging snorkeling and giving advice on other activities and places in the area, so we were able to have the perfect vacation for our tastes.
The apartment was comfortable and had everything we could have needed. Jessica and Gabor were also very accommodating if there was an issue (there wasn't). We didn't have any problem having hot water and they changed the sheets and towels every two days so things were fresh and nice. There's also a hammock looking out onto the garden that gets morning sun. If you are concerned about security, there's a gate and the place seems very secure.
This was my second time staying with Jessica and Gabor- super nice people and always willing to help with whatever you need, without being overbearing. The accommodations are basic but clean and secure. Their house and grounds are nicely furnished, and the breakfast they prepare is always great.
It can be a little difficult to find the house- it's about a 15 minute walk from town- make sure you note Jessica's directions. The first time I stayed here our flight was delayed so we arrived in Cahuita in the dark and we had to get a restaurant owner to call a cab for us, I never would have found Coconut Love in the dark. Also being that this is a small town cabs aren't always readily available- best to ask a shop owner to call a cab and not someone hanging out on the street, in my opinion. The first time I stayed with them we had a little bit of warm water, this time there was no warm water at all- I don't think they advertise warm water, and it's not a necessity, but just a heads up. Also, no AC, again they don't advertise it for this room but just something to be aware of. The fans in the house are totally sufficient to keep cool most of the (website hidden) isn't standard in Costa Rica anyway so get used to it.
Cahuita is a nice little town, quiet. The locals have always been friendly. I prefer the beach in the National Park as opposed to Playa Negra, which is rougher. Be careful of rip currents if you're going in the ocean, they sneak up on you so know how to get out of one before you go out- I know from experience- be careful!
Overall this is a great place to stay in Cahuita, it's a short walk to town or a short bus trip to the more lively Puerto Viejo (less than $2). I'd highly recommend Coconut Love to anyone looking for a nice, clean place to stay on the Caribbean coast.
Thanks for this very informative review ;) We do have hot water in the bathroom shower. If it wasn't working you should have let us know. So sorry that you thought there wasn't. This is why it is so important for our Air BnB guests to communicate properly with us so these things don't go unresolved.
First for non German speaking people: We very much recommend this place!
