Really nice apartment with a wonderful view on the roofs of Rome located in Garbatella, one of the hippest, most charming and atmospheric neighborhoods of Rome, near to the railway station of Roma Ostiense (train connections to Ciampino and Fiumicino airport) and to the underground station of Garbatella (3 stops away from the Colosseum).
Recently renewed, the apartment is a two-room flat with a bright master bedroom and its walk-in closet, a bathroom with an amazing panoramic shower and an open-space living room/kitchen . Nice view from the long balcony. Perfect for a couple (children are welcome. if they are not tiny hooligans..) the apartment can host up to 2 more people (there is a sofa-bed in the living room).
The apartment is provided with everything you may need during your staying (except the microwave. the only appliance I could never stand) : a completely equipped kithchen, wi-fi connection, TV (42'), hi-fi system and DVD player, dishwasher, washing machine, hair dryer, indipendent heating system and air conditioning.
The neighbourhood is charming; for its architectural design (a planned "garden suburb" for the working classes in the bad old days of Fascism, from the 1920s to 1940s.), the warm old-town atmosphere with authentic, throw-back trattorias anywhere. It's a very good spot from where explore Rome and not been trapped by the touristic center. Both if you'll stay few days or for a longer while, you will have a true taste of life in Rome.
Recently the area has grown also for the cultural offer and nightlife. The Palladium Theater and all the Ostiense clubs (Rashmon, Saponeria, Goa etc) are 15 minutes walking from home, few nice restaurants and bars are just next to the house and Eataly (a big mall dedicated to the italian food culture and products) is one stop away on underground line B.
What else can I say? This house is my refuge, is a place I love and the very first thing I've built, here I find peace when I'm under pressure , just by looking outside the kitchen's window (if the sky is clear you can spot also the St.Peter dome). I'm not living in Rome right now and I would be glad if someone can feel the same there. Enjoy your staying !
No big rules, basically just be nice persons, and respect the neighboorhood. High volume music and parties at night are not allowed by the internal regulation of the building. If you do not mess up, you won't have any problem with the neighbours, they are all very kind.
Regarding the house itself I'll be grateful if you could feel it as it was yours and treat it the same. Few strict rules:
Air cond/lights off when outside
No personal stuff outside the door
Follow recycle garbage lines
I offer bed linen and towels, they are stored under the bed.
My husband and I really enjoyed staying here! We traveled for about 2 months in Europe mostly staying in rented apartments, and this was the best one we had. Laura's apartment was cozy, clean, and overall really great. The view through the one-way window in the shower was gorgeous. We stayed for 9 nights and wished we could've stayed longer. And Laura was really helpful when I emailed her with questions. Nice neighborhood, restaurants and bars a few minutes away, grocery store about halfway to the metro.
If you're using public transportation, it's usually easier to just walk the 15-20 minutes to the metro instead of waiting for the bus. If you try the bus, get to the stop a few minutes before it's scheduled to arrive because they are sometimes early, but also sometimes late. I'm not a fan of Rome's bus system, but the metros were perfect.
Laura was a fantastic host and we couldn't be any happier to have stayed in Garbatella in her fantastic apartment. It was amazing to have such a perfectly (modern) furnished home in such a classic Rome neighbourhood. I've never felt so Roman and non-touristy as staying in this very special place.
As a host Laura was great about setting everything up, helping us with directions, and leaving an incredible array of Italian snacks to welcome us.
I highly recommend staying at Laura's rooftop on Rome for a real Roman experience.
The reservation was canceled 43 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
31 years, Roman by birth, moved to Milan. I'm a big lover of music, horses and well done things; this love is often mortified by my disconcerting clumsiness and by my frequent bouts of laziness. I decided to enter the airbnb world because I love traveling and I have always preferred private houses instead of hotels, especially when I'm visiting a new city. Currently I do not live in Rome, but I'm not able to give my house in Garbatella away, I prefer to make it available for those who want to spend a few days or even a longer time in the Eternal City. Garbatella is a surreal and magical neighboorhood, a country in the city where you can lose yourself and walk around, close to all and far enough from the tourist center for living an authentic life experience in Rome. I like the idea of someone else experiencing Rome from the spot I chose for living. I will do my best to make your staying in Rome as pleasant as possible: in the house you will find everything you may need and, if you wish, I'll give you advice on what to do or see in Rome. It 's my city and I know it like the back of my hand. Getting along with me is not difficult: you just have to respect my stuff and my neighbors and be accurate and on time for everything related to payments, bookings and information. I hope to host you soon!
