Stay in a piece of Hardwick history at the Rail Trail Depot, a beautifully restored former railroad building located directly along the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail and next door to the old train station, now home to the Hardwick Historical Society.
The space
Guests enjoy exclusive access to the entire first floor, which includes a spacious bedroom with a comfortable queen bed, a cozy sitting area, a full kitchen and a private bathroom. Historical charm is paired with modern amenities such as Wi-Fi, a smart TV, stainless steel appliances, and a fully equipped kitchen.
Perfect for cyclists, hikers, snowmobilers and outdoor enthusiasts, the Depot offers direct access to the Lamoille Valley Rial Trail for biking, walking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Direct access to Vermont's VAST trail network makes the Depot a great home base for winter adventures.
A covered, enclosed storage area is available for bicycles, skis, and outdoor gear.
The Depot is also just minutes from Caspian Lake, Highland Center for the Arts, and many of the Northeast Kingdom's most popular attractions.
The second and third floors are not part of the rental and remain closed to guests. They are used only for storage, laundry, and housekeeping supplies and are not occupied during your stay.
Whether you're exploring Vermont's Northeast Kingdom for outdoor recreations, local events, or a relaxing getaway, the Rail Trail Depot combines history, comfort and an unbeatable location.

Carpenter/roofer, love being outdoors and helping people. None of this would be possible without my wife, Rhea. She puts in a massive amount of effort with designing the home and decorating. Rhea makes sure it’s spotless and has lots of treats for you. The Rail Trail Depot Airbnb is by far one of the nicest places to stay. Thank you for your business !
