The Space

Our two bedroom suite, located on 10th avenue, in the heart of the beautiful beachside suburb of Kitsilano, is an ideal jumping off point for your Vancouver adventures.

Our place is one of the classic 1950s three level walk up homes that has been divided into 3 separate units or suites. Our two bedroom suite is on ground level with its own separate entrance.

The floors are slate, and there is a gas log fire in the living room with a big rug in front, giving the apartment a ski chalet kind of vibe.
It’s the best place to be after a day exploring and there's an immense choice of restaurants and bars for you to try just a hop, skip and jump from here on the always lively W Broadway. Plus, we're less than 5 mins walk from W 4th, which also boasts a happenin' bar and restaurant scene.

Contact us for any more info.. I'll happily answer any of your questions!

Guest Access

Your room is spacious and light, with a window out onto the front garden, plenty of closet and floor space and a super comfortable, new bed.
The suite has a shared bathroom (with deep bath for unwinding after a big day) and small kitchen (where you are welcome to cook up a storm!) plus a lounge/dining room with a gas fire place.
We have a washing machine and tumble drier too so you can travel on from here with a whole suitcase of fresh clothes. And of course, we've got Wifi for you to use (couldn't live without that!).

Interaction with Guests

Send us a note anytime and we'll endeavour to get back to you right away, or within 24 hours at the latest!

The Neighborhood

Kits was a hippy haven in the 60s and 70s and still retains that chilled vibe.
The beach is one of the star attractions of the area with its mountain views, and fabulous running/bike track (that takes you along the beach then up into the majestic UBC forest, or along the sea wall to well beyond Granville Island with its tasty market and strong art community).
It's an incredibly picturesque neighbourhood, with street after treelined street home to families and young people living in beautiful heritage houses.
There is so much to enjoy in Van - whatever you're into. There are outdoor activities galore, impressive museums and galleries, stunning botanic gardens, an amazing foodie scene, taprooms and bars a plenty, fabulous live music, eclectic nightlife and so much more.
Our lives revolve around yoga, beer brewing, snowboarding, surfing, food and of course travel - all the things that make us happy! We'd be delighted to share everything we've learned about Van since moving here with you. Of course, if you'd prefer to discover on your own and would rather we didn't give away too many hints, we respect that too!

Getting around

You can catch a number of buses (which is how Vancouverites get around) within a short stroll of our peaceful place. Take the 14 and arrive into the heart of downtown within 15 minutes, where you can explore vibrant Davie Village, North America's 2nd largest Chinatown, the historic Gastown district, or the upscale Yaletown neighborhood. Or, take the 9 or 99 to visit eclectic Main St or one of the many restaurants along Commercial Drive.
Or stay close to home and enjoy all that fabulous Kits has to offer.

  • Kat and Bobby were incredibly friendly, accommodating and helpful hosts. The place was neat, clean and welcoming in the heart of Vancouver. Wedding even see each other for the first two days of our stay because we were on opposite schedules, but it was a delight to meet them when we finally lines up!

  • We had a nice stay, friendly hosts, comfortable bed. Road noise was a bit more than we expected, but managed to sleep ok anyway.

  • This is one of my favorite Airbnb-stays ever! Kate and Bobbys place is lovely and in a great neighborhood, and they were fantastic hosts! They were really welcoming and really made me feel at home.

  • Kate and Bobby were the perfect hosts. Their suite is nice and very clean! It's in the best location, so close to good restaurants, shopping and the beach. We ate some amazing food at restaurants we would not have tried without Kate recommending them. They had a lot of suggestions about what to eat and what to do for fun. We would definitely stay there again!

  • Staying with Kate and Bobby was brilliant. They are the nicest people I met in my two weeks in Canada (and they're not even Canadian!) They gave me great recommendations, let me hang out with them and their friends, offered me their bike to use and made some scrummy food. It really made my few days in Vancouver ace.

  • Kate and Bobby were the perfect hosts! They were so welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. Kate kindly took me to her yoga class and Bobby bought us some beer! They made sure we knew where to go to get good coffee and food and even let us borrow their bikes.
Fantastic location, best spot in Kits. Room is super clean and comfy in a quiet street. Minutes from some of the best restaurants in the city.
Thanks again Kate and Bobby for having us stay, we loved it.

  • This is a great place to stay in Kits! Kate and Bobby made us feel very welcome. Their apartment was immaculate and very cosy, it felt like staying in a chalet! Kate recommended some good local restaurants and bars and then Bobby even gave us a lift to the pub. In the morning Kate made us both a bagel bought fresh from the bakery with her delicious home made jam- so good!! We would definitely recommend this place to stay and look forward to coming back to Kits and staying with Kate and Bobby again. Cheers guys!

  • Kate and Bobby are the best! So much fun, incredibly cool and laid-back, and instantly some of the most interesting people I've had the chance to meet while traveling. When I arrived, they immediately invited me out to dinner, and I was able to make a ton of new friends, which I am immensely appreciative of! They made me feel like a part of their world for a small period of time, and gave me lots of recommendations for fun places to check out in Kits. If you're looking for an awesome room-share in a quiet, pretty, fun neighbourhood, this is it! Would definitely recommend and will be back! lots of love from Toronto!

About
Hi I'm Kate... An Aussie living in Canada. My husband, Bobby, and I left our home in Melbourne in July 2012 looking for adventure! To a traveller, our decision to leave behind a gorgeous apartment in St Kilda, a network of loving friends and family and careers in Television (me) and Pharmaceutical Marketing (Bobby) to go travelling probably makes perfect sense but to some it was difficult to understand the appeal of throwing caution to the wind and seeing where life takes us when we’re not tied down by all the comforts of home. Nevertheless we felt it had to be done and though, of course, we miss seeing our beloved family and friends every day we’ve been having the time of our lives! First stop after leaving home was Vegas… Why Vegas?, you may well ask. And I’d tell you, seriously, I have no idea, except that a bunch of our crazy friends were there. So after three nights of madness in Vegas with aforementioned bunch of bananas, we hastened to Mexico with a couple of our favourite peeps and had a leisurely, mojito and sun filled vacation where some of my highlights included learning to surf on a remote beach, snorkelling with a pod of whale sharks, swimming in underwater caves, encounters with turtles and of course more guacamole and habanero than one should really have in a life time! After that we split from our mates and headed to the States. We stayed in San Diego for a bit before hooking up with another friend in LA who had scored a gig as a busdriver and was heading from LA to New York and back again in a huge RV. We jumped on that quick as can be and ended up touring across the US with him, stopping to explore Phoenix and Austin in Texas, New Orleans (what a place!), Memphis, Nashville, Wrightsville Beach, Virginia Beach, Richmond in Virginia, Charlottesville, Sperriville (gorgeous town near the Shenendoah National Park in West Virginia), Fredericksburg in Virginia, Washington DC, New York City, Long Beach New York and then whizzed back to LA in 3 and a half days with barely a stop. We had a ball touring across the States and being lil' truckers and watching the scenery change in that land of contrasts. Our next destination was Vancouver and we arrived at the end of August 2012 and thanks to a spectacular arrangement between Canada and Australia we are able to stay and work in Canada for the next two years – which we fully intend to do! Back home my job as a TV Producer for a daily, live Morning Show had been an absolute joy but despite that, when I arrived in Vancouver I decided that I wanted to stretch myself in another direction. Stretch being the operative word, since I’m now working at Lululemon and have turned into a yoga addict! Ironically enough we don’t even have a TV at our place here! Though I have to admit, we still download all our favourite shows and watch them on our computer with speakers for sound. There was no way either of us could bear to miss out on our precious Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad or True Blood! Bobby has left behind his Product Manager life and is now living out his dream – working as an assistant brewer at a microbrewery here. He loves the change of pace and still gets a kick out of the fact that he no longer has to work behind a desk and wear a suit everyday and that he can grow his beard out! In fact, the longer the beard the better if you’re a brewer it seems. We both love Vancouver and while we’re determined to travel and see as much of Canada (and the north west coast of America) while we’re here, neither of us wants to leave Van any time soon, so I think we’ll stay put and just take little trips to other places when we can. Especially since now the snow is falling and we’ll soon be able to ride at Whistler and Cypress on our days off! I’m not an amazing snowboarder but I can falling leaf with the best of them, so hopefully my skills will improve over the season. Bobby has been checking the snow report incessantly and is dying to get on the mountain. When we’re not snowboarding, yoga-ing, brewing (or having a beer) or watching our fave TV shows, Bobby and I are probably doing something food related. I love to cook and one of my responsibilities as a TV producer was actually to produce the cooking segments for our show. That meant that I got exposure to lots of wonderful chefs and recipes and naturally, I suppose, it awoke an intense love of food in me. I mean, I’d always loved to eat out and try new things – both Bobby and I love, love, LOVE to do that – but my appreciation of food and knowledge and understanding of how to prepare it grew tenfold while doing that job and as a result experimentation in the kitchen happens on a more regular basis. Since arriving here I’ve added quite a few new Japanese dishes to my repertoire, inspired by all the amazing Japanese restaurants in Vancouver. As soon as we get the chance Bobby and I are going to take a trip to Vancouver Island because I hear that they have amazing produce and restaurants there and I can’t wait to check it out. And of course, it’d be rude not to drop in to all the microbreweries while we’re there! In fact, I think it’s time I wrapped this up. You get the picture by now I’m sure and I’ve got to get on with looking for AirBnB accommodation options over there! All this talk of travel has got me too excited!
