Set within a river valley landscape along Bali’s sacred Ayung River, this all bamboo house is unique. It is located in the Green Village, first established in 2010, a master-planned community of high end bamboo villas with its distinctive blonde roofs. Entering the house is a feast to the eyes and a showcase at how black and white bamboo can be combined in all shapes and pattern to create a stunning collection of luxurious floors, walls, ceiling, stairs and railings. Even the roof is an innovative arrangement of bamboo shingles.
This incredible house, called Sunrise House, perched on the edge of the Ayung river valley, comprises an incredible 4 floors, with 3 double bed bedrooms, 3 ensuite bathrooms, kitchen, lounge and dining area with fabulous views, plunge pool, an office/ work area on the top (4th) floor, and other lookout areas. The main entrance is on the 3rd floor, where the lounge and kitchen and TV bubble room are situated. Going down the stairs to the second floor leads to 2 bedrooms, each with ceiling fans, both with ensuite bathrooms, and a reading room between the two. The bottom floor holds the Master Bedroom, with AC. It is unlikely guests will need AC! The master bedroom also includes a drying room with a de-humidifier. All the bedrooms have wind down bamboo blinds for privacy. From the bottom floor, guests can exit the house and take the stairs down to the plunge pool and private garden, perched quite literally on the edge of the river valley. All the rooms are furnished with exquisite bamboo furniture which perfectly complements the décor. The scenery and view from the house is utterly breathtaking. The photos do not do the House and surrounding environment justice. See it and believe it. If you are a party of more than 6, let me know: we can arrange extra sleeping arrangements.
The house includes ADSL WIFI, TV with DVD player (bring DVDs if you want to watch), and Indovision Satellite TV. Access is also available to the communal areas which include a natural pool, yoga / relaxation pavilion, edible gardens, and parking areas.
If you are wondering if this my house, it is not! However, be rest assured, the Antipodean lady owner has personally authorised me to list here. I also have 4 other listings at Green Village!

Bomboo fantastic!!!! Uniqe experience, must do. The perfection of the building is incredible, all electrical or water pipes are hidden inside the bamboo, which makes you experience a modern home, in a open and airy luxury bamboo hut. There is noise from the river, yes, and there is insects, yes. But that is part of the sensation of Green Village. Thanks.
The service is excellent, Eva, helped with everything, and made every suggestion possible. Big help. And our driver for daytrips was excellent to, thanks, Nyoman. You should go on the Bamboo factory tour, and meet fun and nice - Mirna, how can tell a lot.
Go there!!! Regards Jesper and Johnny
It's an interesting bamboo villa which we havent seen before. And it's so huge for our 7pc to stay without any noise.everything is perfect And House manager is a Chinese person we can communicate without any block.she give us some fruit and a bottle of wine.Thank you .
And Thank you .Andy Thank you give us such a nice place to stay and we will never forget you!
Stayed for our honeymoon. Such a unique awesome experience. If you want to get away and relax you'll love it here, go on a rice field tour, get a private massage and have a balinese chef cook you up something good for dinner. Highly recommend.
It's a wonderful and natural place.
It's worthy to come here.
This is such an amazing space to retreat from life. It is quiet, lush, peaceful, spacious and very comfortable. I would liken it to spending the night in a luxury tree house, with open aired living areas and bedrooms. We were amazed at the volume of the home, which makes it a wonderful place to share with friends and family.
Eva, the manager of the Green Village, was incredibly welcoming and very helpful with suggestions for local activities and transport. I would highly recommend the bamboo factory tour and the tour of the Green School. Both are an inspiration to the possibilities of this unique and artistic building material as well as what you are able to do with a dream. A truly memorable experience.
The Bamboo house is pretty spectacular to look at - probably one of the nicest places I've ever stayed. However, consider these points for your stay:
1. It's 30 minutes from Ubud so you'll have to get plenty of taxis
2. The river running outside is incredibly loud and also means everything becomes quite damp (we did go in monsoon season, however)
3. There are no windows so you get all manners of bugs flying in at all times. There seem to be a few interested hornets so worth noting if you have young children.
If you're not too bothered by those points, you will love the place. Can't recommend their food however, you're much better off ordering in or cooking yourself.
This is the most unique property I've ever stayed in, Airbnb or hotel! We celebrated our anniversary there. I had the staff decorate the place with flowers which they did a lovely job of. We also had the refrigerator stocked and dinner served at the house. They arranged transportation to and from the Green Village and arranged for a masseuse for my wife. All of this was a bonus on top of the property itself. We chose to spend the day just hanging out there because it was so relaxing. Everything is made with bamboo with such creative craftsmanship. It's really just as impressive as the pictures suggest. Even though it is open to the air the bugs did not bother as much. Bring a headlamp so you can find your way around if you need to get up in the night!
Nice place, the whole 3-generation family enjoyed the close-to-nature place very much. Very helpful staff. Great car operator/driver. Thank you Eva, Mirna, Rudy, Irwin, and entire staff.
The All Bamboo house was really stunning!
Everything looks exactly like in photos or even better!
I have never felt more relaxed than I felt here, enjoying every sound around and the view to valley and river.
You can really forget everything and just have some time to yourself or with your beloved ones.
It's a really romantic place, so it's nice for couples. But it's also great for small groups up to 8 or families. I am not sure about small kids, this house might ask more attention to kids due to safety.
The service and the staff was great, the food was really good.
You don't have much to do around there, but it is a place to relax, do nothing and experience the magnificence of the house.
I am recommending everyone, it really is a unforgettable must see (or must feel the magic) place!
The bamboo house was above all our expectations (2 families with teenagers) for a number of reasons
1. The wonderful Eva - she really did everything she could to make our visit fantastic. She smiled as we dithered at the range of options (and then we'd change our minds) and then organised everything. Eva even made sure we all got to the chocolate factory on time by picking up our slower walkers on her scooter.
2. The house - it really does look like the photos. Sleeping in comfy beds, safely protected by large mosquito nets and listening to the river rush by below - such bliss. Making omelettes and fruit juices for breakfast and sitting at the table overlooking the valley - such bliss. Sitting in the pool in the evening with fireflies around the bushes - such bliss.
3. Everyone's pride in and enthusiasm for the houses - from the designers and their models, through to Patrick and his builders turning the dreams into reality through to those who took us through the houses.
4. The walking tour - across the bamboo bridge with the river rushing below, up through the 5-storey house ohhing and ahhing at everything, down the quiet road to the Bamboo Factory and meeting Patrick to hear about the process and then to the Chocolate Factory and salivating over the smell of cacao.
The Green Village is 1/2 hour from Ubud. Our piece of advice would be to go as many different ways as possible - from the south, west and north - as each is scenic in its own way and gets you to a different part of Ubud.
