Rod and Sarah were welcoming hosts. They were quick to respond to questions before our arrival and friendly as can be after our arrival. We enjoyed staying with them. Their location is convenient to downtown and Cornell. The room was as described. Delightful hosts!
I did not spend much time there, but the hosts hardly acknowledged my presence except to provide me with information on how to catch the bus into Ithaca. There is no neighborhood - it's just a couple of apartment buildings on the border with Ithaca surrounded my open area and a few houses. The apartment is not set up for guests - the room had no place to easily rest a watch or clothes, and no assigned closet or drawer space. The beige carpet was very dirty, there were hairpins on the floor in the bathroom and my room, a part-Chihuahua, while friendly, that jumped and yipped, and old food stuck on the pass-through shelf between the living room and the kitchen. Ditto dirty pans from the night before. There were brochures for tourist attractions, which appeared to be the only concession to the paying guest. My last AirBnB in Brooklyn, NY was a sharp contrast - clean, hosts who made an effort to interact, and who even tried to suggest entertainment and seemed glad I was there.
We usually have pleasant guest experiences that we really enjoy but Susanne Spitzer was the worst. She is not welcomed back in our home and I would strongly advise against allowing her into your home. She criticized our home, dog rearing, and everything in between from the moment she arrived. We were happy when she left and hope this experience doesn't deter other friendly guests that understand that Airbnb is about positive relationships. Roderick and Sarah were very welcoming and gave us very pertinent advice on the area.
We only stayed one night by we enjoyed it!
Sarah and Rod were welcoming, gracious, and generous with their home in every way. Our room was clean and bright and comfortable and had lots of brochures for the area and other toiletries that we weren't expecting but that came in handy. Their dog is lovely and love-able and was (I think) one of the highlights for my daughter. The space is quiet and it is a quick five minute drive to downtown Ithaca. Sarah and Rod do their best to make the stay a positive experience.
Sarah and Rod are an extremely kind and sweet couple, and my husband and I were fortunate to stay with them. The room is comfortable and they have made every effort to provide the little "creature comforts" in your room (ie, a carafe of water and glasses, brochures on what to see/do in the area, toothbrushes if you forgot yours, etc). The room and the bathroom (which you share with Sarah and Rod) are very clean. We arrived in the first cold spell of the season, and the apartment was warm and cozy.
Georgie, their Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mutt, has a big friendly personality -- we think he's trying to compensate for his diminutive size. :) He's not a "yappy" dog, however. He'll bark as he hears you unlock the front door, and then it's all wiggles and kisses after that.
Sarah and Rod are a friendly, engaging couple, and they respect your space and privacy if you need any.
If we met Sarah and Rod at a party, we would like them just as much as we do now!
We wholeheartedly recommend anyone to stay with them.
