  • The apartment was the perfect size and it was great to be able to have my pup with me on vacation. David was very helpful and even left us a bottle of wine. I would stay there again on my next stay in San Diego.

  • David and Holly were perfect hosts! A sweet apartment with a great community feel to it. Since we had small children we didn't walk into SD much, but the drive was short and sweet. He had great and helpful recommendations for restaurants and was great to get to know a bit! If you're looking for a home-base in SD we would highly recommend this!

  • David is an awesome host. He has great communication, friendly, and very knowledgable with San Diego. He recommended a couple of local hot spots which were great to try out. The house was clean and very artistic! We loved how they decorated.
My family, friends, and dog came to San Diego for a short vacation. Staying at David's really made the trip that much better. He is in a great location so close to Gas Lamp and Balboa park. Also, his place was so much fun. They have a huge chalkboard wall that kept us entertained and also a really cool backyard to hang out in. Everyone loved their stay and felt very comfortable.
I recommend anyone looking for a local vibe of community, stay here! I know I we'll be back!

  • My initial reservation got cancelled a day before I was supposed to leave for my birthday trip to San Diego, I believe everything happens for a reason because I can't imagine staying anywhere better! David and Holly were awesome hosts. They were very helpful, friendly, always had great communication, and made us feel very welcome! We loved the decor of the apartment, everything was clean, and we had everything we needed! The location is ideal, it was short drive to everywhere we went. No need to hesitate , book this property! Your stay at holly and david's is guaranteed to be special and memorable!

  • David was a wonderful host, and his Golden Hill apartment was perfect! The place is walking distance from a market, restaurants and coffee shops. We also enjoyed a long walk through Balboa park, which is just down the street. David shares a yard and garden with a few neighbors and a handsome dog named Shadow. David was a great host; he was accommodating and was very quick to answer any questions we had. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    P.S.--THERE IS A CHALKBOARD WALL.

  • This place was great! Davids home was perfect for my needs, two couples ready for a weekend getaway. It's so close to everything which made daily outings so easy. He also has decorated his place to make it very cozy and comfortable, perfect for coming back to a very relaxing space. David was very thoughtful with all his guests with providing a welcoming basket with wine and very helpful tips on how to use his house and navigate the neighborhood. I couldn't have asked for a better place. Next time I come down to San Diego, I will definitely ask David if his apartment is free for me to stay. Thanks David for offering up your amazing home.

  • Pros:
David and his wife were very responsive and accommodated a reservation change with a very short deadline. This was much appreciated.
Plenty of space and convenience for 3-4 people even for a two week stay.
The owner created a cute space with little. We had a lit Christmas tree for the Holidays.
Welcome basket, clean beds and towels on arrival.
Convenient location - very close to Balboa Park & downtown, easy access to I-5 highway.
A few decent grocery stores nearby for breakfast shopping - do try the mexican bakery (Panchitas)!
The immediate neighbourhood has the feel of a working class area that has been slowly revived.

    Please note:
Street parking only - try the angle parking on A street. May be difficult week-ends and after commuting hours on weekdays.
The entrance is on an alley - however, David has been very helpful with directions and instructions for picking up the key.
As most places in the US, the rooms have no curtains. Take a nightmask if you want to sleep late.
In the flight path but not noticeable as air traffic shuts down for the night.
    My only pet peeve:
I am definitively the OCD type but there was a bit of dog hair on the carpet when we arrived. In fact, the carpet in both bedrooms is a bit dingy.

Overall, the place will serve you well.

  • I stayed at David and Holly's place with four other girls for a friend's bachelorette weekend in SD. The apartment was perfectly located, extremely comfortable and adorably decorated. I could not have been more happy with our experience. Beyond that, it is obvious by the little bit of interaction that I was able to have with the hosts that they are wonderful people. I highly recommend their place and would happily stay there again the next time that I am in the area.

About
My wife tells me that I was built for relationships. I just enjoy getting to know the diversity of people that I share this earth with. I love to travel and engage in other cultures, customs, and foods. One of my favorite things to do is get lost in a new city, exploring the smells, sights, and sounds that fill the air. My top 5 cities so far are Tokyo, London, Florence, Malawi -Malaysia, and Vancouver. I am really easy going when I travel and prefer staying with locals-soaking in the local lore and tips on how to best engage my context. I am a very organized person that likes to have clear expectations on most things I do so that my time, energy, and money can be maximized! I respect other's values and opinions and hold to a "listening posture" especially when I travel outside of my own context. I value and care for my possessions and expect all guests to hold to the same practice.
