This is a lovely spacious room with a super comfy queen bed, dresser, desk, and closet for your use. All linens are provided. The room also gets lots of natural light and has zero street noise.
Come share my sunny two bedroom apartment at the border of Haight Ashbury and Cole Valley neighborhoods. Here you'll be walking distance to a number of bars and restaurants of various ethnic persuasions, a wonderful local grocer, a Whole Foods, and even a specialty cheese shop.
I'm an independent environmental consultant and business coach and love to spend my free time outside. We're less than a ten minute walk to Golden Gate Park, and serene Mt. Sutro trails where you can go for a jog or a nice walk. More ambitious runners can even run to the top of Twin Peaks from here in 20-30 minutes. A closer walk to the top of Tank Hill affords a view of the Golden Gate and Bay bridges on a clear day. We're close to two yoga studios: Bikram and Yoga Tree. Your room comes with two yoga mats that you're welcome to use at the local studios.
Access to public transportation is easy and we're close to both the above ground busses, as well as a stop for the N line which takes you all the way downtown to the east, and to Ocean Beach at the west end of the line. Walking distance to UCSF. We've also got several bicycle rentals shops in the neighborhood. If you rent a bike, you are welcome to store it in the apartment.
Like a typical SF apartment, there is a split bathroom: one room with a toilet and another with a sink and shower/tub.
The kitchen is well-equipped and should have everything you need to make a meal. Tea and coffee is available for you to help yourself.
If you're looking for a cozy, relaxing stay, this is the spot! I love hosting people and meeting new friends from around the world, and want to make your stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible-- just let me know how I can help.
One thing to note- due to the layout of the apartment, I may occasionally have to pass through your bedroom to access the laundry that is outside. I will of course check with you first to make sure it's a good time. Thanks for understanding. And of course you are welcome to use the laundry too!
NOTE: please send an inquiry before a booking.
Guests have full access to all of the common spaces in the apartment: Living room, kitchen, dining area, porch, bathrooms and laundry.
Interaction with Guests
Depending on my work schedule I may not be around much, or may be working from home. I typically have some interaction with guests, sometimes quite a lot. Overall the place is probably best for people that are self-sufficient, but I'm always happy to answer questions and information to make your stay happy, comfortable, and fun! The room has a lot of maps and guides and recommendations of things to do, both in the neighborhood, and in the city.
This neighborhood is great! It's a 10 minute walk to Golden Gate Park, walkable to the Academy of Sciences, Haight Ashbury, Divisadero Corridor and tons of other great spots. It's also safe for women traveling alone.
Public transit is excellent here. We're just a few blocks from the N Judah, and close to several muni lines. There is no need for a car if you plan to spend your trip in SF proper.
Other Things to Note
Please send an inquiry before a booking to make sure the dates work. Thanks!
Generally keep it quiet after 10:30pm on weekdays and midnight on weekends. You can come and go as you please, just be mindful of noise after those times (and super early too!)
No overnight guests.
Please remove shoes at the door.
Please help me keep the place clean and tidy by doing your dishes and cleaning up after using the kitchen.
No smoking anywhere in the apartment, including on the porch and back stairs.
This building is occupied by the landlord and other wonderful tenants so please be respectful of that. No parties, sorry!
My second stay in Emily's place was as pleasant as the first - perfect host, awesome apartment and the best neighborhood in SF.
Emily was a perfect host. From her thoughtful preparation of the room to her great tips about visiting the city, she was welcoming, always helpful and such a pleasure to be around. Even though it was a hectic week of work for Emily, she made sure communication was open and that Jess and I had everything we needed.
The house is so centrally located and perfect for any traveler who wishes to explore the city. So many cute cafes and shops just down the road, and getting to public transit is a breeze. The neighborhood itself is lovely. With beautiful Golden Gate Park just a short walk/run away, I can't think of a more convenient setting.
We had a wonderful time with Emily and will certainly stay here again if we return to San Francisco!
I really wanted to stay in a cute painted Victorian while in SF, and Emily's place was a great fit. It's nicely painted, on a super cute street, perfectly situated just off Haight Street in a very convenient and easy-to-access location! I stayed for one week and had a great experience--she is friendly and helpful, and the apartment is very clean, with a cute porch and lots of natural light. The bed is extremely comfortable (I slept like a baby). Wi-Fi is strong and works great, which was also very important for my trip!
Emily was very nice and accommodating. Her house was clean and the room was spacious and homey. I will definitely stay with her again on my next trip to San Francisco and would 100% recommend her to anyone else visiting the city.
I had a very good time in San Francisco (although I came for work) where Emilys beautiful and cozy apartment was a great place to rest from the hustle and bustle of the city. The place is very special, Emily really has an eye for the detail.
Emily has been very helpful, friendly and easy-going!
Emily was a wonderful host--kind, helpful, smart. Her place was sunny, clean, and close to everything. Would definitely go back.
Emily's house is a very typical "painted house" in San Francisco, situated in the famous Haight Ashbury district, 5mins walk from the amazing Golden Gate Park and its attractions (japanese tea garden, conservatory of flowers, etc).
Emily is so kind, helpful, providing you with clean linens and towels. She makes you feel like you're at home and I really appreciated her mild-mannered presence and tactfullness.
I would definitely recommend her place to go.
Thanks a lot Emily!

I'm a business coach living on the border of Cole Valley and Haight Ashbury/Upper Haight. In my free time I love to ride my bike, run, hike, and practice yoga. I've lived in SF more than ten years and can recommend great food, bars, and music venues. Hablo español!
