Barbara's house was a very nice place to stay! The room is exactly as in the pictures, and very cosy. The rest of the house is also pleasant, the kitchen is well equiped. When I was there Barbara was not at home, there was one other tenant. Although she was not there, and there was a slight communication mix up when I arrived, Barbara made sure I was okay and felt at home. Only the bathroom is indeed not shared with the owner, but you do share it with the person in the second room.
Barbara was very quick to respond to my correspondence. She was traveling during my stay so we did not meet. The house was clean and well appointed. The room was as described but the bathroom is a shared bath. Everything was fine but that does require clarification as that was a decision point for me. The street parking was not a problem. You are deep in a neighborhood and it would be difficult without a car to get anywhere.
Hello Arthur, the description states that the bathroom is shared when there is another guest in the house and that was indicated to you before you made your booking. Unfortunately, I have only one; a nice one however. There are many bus stops around the house and all are less than 5 mins away. These take you all over the city including Squirrel Hill, downtown, Oakland, etc. There is a great coffee shop 5 mins away from the house. The same is true for several restaurants, bars, banks, etc. The closest neighborhood with a movie theater is less than a mile away. Many people who stay with me do not have a car. The bus that takes you to the airport is only a few stops away.
The location was great, in a nice neighborhood, easy to get places. The room was clean and exactly as pictured. I would stay here again.
Barbara quickly answered my email questions. Arrangements were easy. She provides better directions than my Google maps. I'd recommend following them.
The room is as pictured, clean and private. The bed is firm and there is also a chair for reading. It is not connected to the bath which is a few feet down the hall. The bath is newly and beautifully redone. Also clean. I did share the bath but never saw the person I was sharing with over the weekend. Felt cosy, safe, comfortable and trusted.
Interesting neighborhood with brick streets and very close to Forbes avenue. Wish I had had more time to explore. I will definitely check if Barbara's room is available if I go back to Pittsburgh in the future.
This was my second time staying in Barbara's house for some peace and quiet as a PhD student who lives with roommates. Barbara's responses to my communications were prompt and considerate, particularly when I sheepishly got locked out of her house and asked for her help to retrieve my belongings. Her home was welcoming and quaint, and indeed gave me the few days of sanctuary that I was looking for. Thank you Barbara!
Barbara was a tremendous hostess. The room was immaculate and she had bath towels ready for me when I arrived. Everything she listed was accurate and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Her house is clean and organized and I felt as if I was in my own home. Thank you!!
Overall, I had a very good experience. I only stayed for one night and when I arrived, Barbara was not home, but she still made it easy for me to get inside and made me feel welcomed. I appreciate her flexibility in my arrival and departure times and I would say everything in the listing is pretty accurate.

About the Host, Barbara
Hi, my name is Barbara Schwarck and I am the CEO of Clear Intentions International, an executive coaching, leadership training and change management firm. I am originally from Germany but have been calling Pittsburgh my home for the last 25 year. I know what is like to travel and would love to host you in my home.
My house is pet free and quiet. I live near many bus lines and the parkway (376). If you like to jog or walk in nature, you are in luck. My house is minutes away from Frick Park. You can also walk to the grocery store, the local bar or the bank.
Personally, I like to jog, practice yoga or ski. I am into personal development and I like to learn about new cultures. I look forward to hosting you.
