A cozy one bedroom, one bath cottage with an open floor plan kitchen/dining/living room is your home base for exploring the Kalapana Coast on the Big Island. The manager and local artist, Heather Wilkinson, lives next door in a two-story house in Seaview Kalapana Estates with her wily cat Mr. Undertoes. Heather will be your source for how to get the most out of your stay on the Puna (east side) of the island.
Your unit accommodates up to two persons with a full size bed in the bedroom and a single size futon in the living room. The kitchen is equipped with dishware, pots and pans, etc. and has a microwave oven, coffee maker, gas stove and refrigerator. Brand new state of the art water filtration system so you can drink out of the faucets. We have very recently converted the entire house to solar power. Parking is provided just outside your front door. Wireless internet is complimentary. We have a coin-operated washing machine and a propane dryer. There are also clothes lines available for drying right outside the Ohana in a covered sitting area(URL HIDDEN)The atmosphere in Puna is totally laid back, friendly, and in tune with Nature.
There are locals markets Wednesday night and Saturday morning with the island's freshest produce is 10 minutes down the road at Uncle Roberts Kava Bar. Wednesday evenings another local market in Kalapana welcomes the community with dinner sold by a couple dozen food vendors and live Hawaiian music. Kahena Black Sand Beach is only a three minute drive from the Ohana and many great attractions including flowing lava, warm ponds , snorkeling, surfing, and steam bathing are within easy driving distance down the Red Dirt Road, which is actually paved now. Important additional information:
The damage deposit is $100, and will be refunded after your departure as long as nothing is damaged or missing from the apartment.
