-HUGE, spacious room in a real apartment
-Apartment is two entire floors
-Great sunlight in the apartment, two big windows in the room
-Very clean private bathroom
-Fully furnished, super comfortable queen sized bed, dresser, desk, work table and bookshelf
-Towels, sheets, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste...everything you need provided!
-Personal A/C unit for the summer
-Direct, private access to backyard
-High speed wireless internet
-Complete access to full kitchen with oven, toaster, and full fridge and stove-top, condiments
-Neighbors are friendly and quiet
-Lots of street parking available (unusual for the area, ha)

Again, the room is basically it's own apartment, since it has a private bathroom and kitchenette (with mini fridge). There's an entrance from the top floor of the apartment, and also another entrance that's completely private and also connects directly to the beautiful, green backyard. It's quite nice to sit out there and have breakfast or read. I've got alot of art supplies if you want to go out there and paint or draw as well.

This is a TRUE Williamsburg spot (directly at the base of the Williamsburg bridge)

Fun, safe and close to L & G-train Lorimer stop or Hewes JMZ stop (that's all three major trains). The JMZ train goes straight to JFK as well, for your convenience. Really the location is a huge part of what makes this place so great.

Less than 10 minute train ride to Manhattan and walk to Bedford Ave, ridiculously quick cab ride to Manhattan since we are right at the base of the Williamsburg Bridge (which is also a beautiful walk--something I would recommend if you're feeling up to it)

There are a slew of bars and restaurants, a grocery store, and a cafe called Moto that I'm quite partial to down the block (Yelp it, it's got amazing reviews) The Flat (email hidden) that opened right around the block. Please check out my guidebook for more recommendations. I also could go on and on if you wanted to know more :)

5 minute walk to Dumont, Barcade, Diner, Le Barricou, Sunac Grocery Store, Gimme Coffee, Huckleberry Bar, Lady Jays, great Indian & Thai food...

I'm a an art director, so I travel quite a bit. I'm extremely considerate with my space since design is part of what I do for a living. I am easily reached through email or phone, so please don't hesitate to contact me, even if you're just unsure of something. I'll answer any questions or you can come by and check out the room.

Thanks and have a great day,

Guest Access

Guests have access to a full kitchen, common areas such as living room and backyard, as well as their own private bathroom.

Interaction with Guests

You are free to have your New York adventure. I am very easily reached and very communicative if you have any questions, need recommendations, etc. I really try to do what I can so that you have a pleasant stay and feel welcome. However, I know you are here to experience the city and there's so much to explore so I won't get in the way ;)

The Neighborhood

There's a little bit of everything in this neighborhood. Broadway has bars, restaurants, grocery stores, spas, bike shops, boutiques...literally everything, ha. However, the apartment is on a side street from Broadway so it's actually very quiet and peaceful on the block. The neighbors are all pleasant and friendly. I really think it's the best neighborhood in Brooklyn! ha

Getting around

Really one of the best things about this apartment is it's location. It is very unique in that it's close to 3 of the major Brooklyn trains. It's literally around the corner from the JMZ (which takes less than 10 minutes to get to Manhattan) a block from the G train, and ten minute walk from the L train.

There's also a car service station on our block if you want a taxi at literally any time of the day/night.

Check In
  • Pam is a friendly person who is a joy to talk with. The room is in effect a separate unit with a large bedroom that has a table, sink and small refrigerator, along with a private bathroom. Off the back is a garden. It is located in a safe area southeast of the Williamsburg Bridge.

It was such a pleasure meeting you, John. Come back anytime!

  • Pam responded fast and accommodated me at a very short notice for a night. She was a great host. One thing to I'd like to point out is that the room is in the basement with little light, but other than that the room is huge and clean.

    Response from Pam:

Thanks for your stay, Merike. Take care!

  • Pam is a very discreet, cooperative and pleasant person. The room is large and because the room and the bathroom are downstairs, it feels as if you're in a studio apartment. It was quiet so I was able to sleep well. In better weather the courtyard would be fun to use. It's convenient being close to two subway lines.
I had some minor misgivings about the neighborhood although it's not dangerous, it's not very tourist-friendly.

  • Pam is a great host who made me feel very comfortable. She was kind and considerate. The room is private and feels much like a private apartment with it's own entrance, bathroom and a lovely backyard.

  • Pam is a great host. I can thoroughly recommend staying! I stayed in her very large downstairs room with private ensuite. It's the perfect place to stay if you want to be independent yet around interesting people. I'll be back, I hope!

  • Pam's flat was beautifully clean when we arrived with everything we needed provided for us! The best thing about it is you get your own basement room downstairs with double bed and bathroom, fridge and sink and big table so you don't feel like your in anyone's way and you can spread out loads as well as access to the kitchen upstairs. Pam is lovely, she was really quick at getting back to us, really friendly and helped us with everything we needed, as were here house mates. The apartment is ideally situated literally 2 minutes from Hewes and Broadway subway, it was so quick to get both into Manhattan and into other parts of Brooklyn. There is a supermarket just up the road. Also, you only need to walk a few blocks North and there are all the really great shops, restaurants and bars of Williamsburg.

This was my first time using AirBnB and we were really happy with our stay!

  • Pam is an amazing host. She just knows how to do it: you feel at home and comfortable. The room is very big and tidy, with private entrance and access to the yard. Everybody in the place is easy going. So, all in all a perfect new york experience.

  • Great host, good place to stay if you're looking for a cheap stay in Brooklyn. Pam was very responsive. She contacted me a few times to ask if I needed help or more info. I felt very welcome!

I was supposed to stay one night at Pam's place. But when I arrived, I got a call from the tv-station I work for (I am a reporter) and they asked me to drive from New York to Newtown, Connecticut. I had to cover the terrible story that happened a few hours earlier, so I didn't stay at Pam's place for the night.

So I didn't sleep here, but I stayed here for a few hours. Everything was clean, the bed is comfortable (I laid down for a few hours because I was tired from my flight from Houston, didn't get much sleep the night before), it is conveniently located next to the subway station.

  • Pam's place is very well represented and, as others have noted, pleasantly spacious versus what you'd expect for a place in Williamsburg. (If you're not familiar with sought-after Brooklyn areas, places can be /small/ and /gross/).

She left us towels and clean sheets, and the place feels very private. (It really could be listed as an "entire home," etc.)

The walk into the heart of the Bedford area is reasonably short. It's probably difficult to find a place this large and clean any closer for a similar price. All together, it was a very convenient and pleasant time.

  • When I arrived, the room was terribly dirty. The sheets hadn't been changed (!) and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned for... years!
When I noticed it to Pam, she felt really sorry and immediately changed the sheets (but the bathroom remained as it was...)
At the end, I wouldn't recommand it, especially at this price.

Even if yes, it is really close to the train station.

    Response from Pam:

Unfortunately this is the only less than positive experience I had with a guest. The room was clean, the sheets were fresh, but I changed them again just to accommodate him. I asked him not to smoke in the room, but he did anyways and drank my roommate's beer without asking. I realllly tried to be accommodating despite this. It is someone's home and not a hotel you're staying at, perhaps he would've been better suited for the latter. I'm sorry though that he felt unsatisfied by his stay and appreciate the feedback nonetheless.

I was born in South Korea and grew up all over the world as a military brat. I'm now an art director working with video and installation, and I travel quite a bit. My work relates to design and space, so I spend alot of time taking care of my home. I do my best to make your New York experience authentic and special. I've been living in the same neighborhood for 5 years and I think it's the best (clearly!) I know the best spots to get DELICIOUS food, although really there's so much to devour in this city! I'm most knowledgeable about the art and culture of this city whether it's galleries, theaters, shows, music, etc. I've had nothing but positive experiences meeting new people through airbnb. I am easily reached through email or phone. So please don't hesitate to contact me, even if you're unsure of something. Happy and safe travels!
