2 bedrooms house typical provençal construction style with modern decoration.
Quiet and peaceful accommodation in the heart of a wonderful and colorful region.

The Space

Nestled in the heart of Provence, south of the Luberon mountains, 20 Minutes drive from Aix en Provence, 45 Min from Marseille, 1h from Avignon, 2h drive from cote d'Azur.

This late 18th century stone house is available for rent in the picturesque village of La Bastidonne, (early 12th century.)

Quiet, Comfortable, Unique!

We renovated and redecorated the house in 2010 and really enjoy having foreign visitors come to discover and explore the Luberon and Provence.

You'll enjoy the modern Provencal decoration and the warm atmosphere in Dadigdoun, which means “grandfather’s house” in Armenian. It was Annouk's grandparents house, Armenian immigrants to the region in the 1920's.

You can enjoy double bedroom.

Guest Access

The fully furnished house is on two levels. On the ground floor there is a living room (with a Futon/Sofa) and a fully-equipped kitchen.

There is a small terrace under the trellis. (with a small table and chairs for 2).

On the second floor there are two bedrooms and one bathroom.
One of the bedrooms has it’s own en-suite comprising a shower (the feature of which is a beautiful stone wall) and sink (see photos). Both bedrooms have queen size beds. (140cm)

- Bedroom La Saverie: bedroom with en-suite.
- Bedroom La Tourrache: Beautiful antique wooden furniture.
- Bathroom with a bathtub
-One individual toilette

BB Bed and BB chair upon request.

Interaction with Guests

I'm please to welcome my guests and share with them the secrets of the Luberon. I'm leaving next door. The 2 houses are really independent.
If unfortunately I'm not present (as travelling sometimes for work) one of my friend/neighbor will welcome you and will be available to answer all your questions on wonderful places to discovers in our National Parc and Region.

The Neighborhood

The village is quiet and people are very please to welcome foreign persons.
We have 2 pleasant restaurant in the village, a cozy café, a smily grocery store lady.

Getting around

It is very easy to go around but you definitively need a car. Smalls villages in the Luberon, markets, Aix en Provence, Avignon, Gordes, Marseille even the beaches and ski resorts are less than one hour drive.

Other Things to Note

you are in heaven, what else?

  • La Bastidonne is a very quiet and friendly village within a comfortable drive most attractions. The village itself has one restaurant and a small supermarket; however, they have restricted hours and often weren't open. This may well have been due to the time if year we were there - late Sept/early Oct, but it meant we spent more time in the car seeking what we hoped would be within within walking distance. Annouk's apartment has a distinct personality with an interesting and eclectic mix of furnishings. For those who seek a pristine/hotel style environment this would not suit. The sofa on the lounge is a converted futon that sits quite close to the ground so those with knee or back issues may want to consider this. Annouk was prompt and clear with all communication, it was just a pity she wasn't available to greet us at the start of our stay as it would have avoided many wasted hours at the local McDonalds thinking there was no wifi. We loved the front terrace covered in a fruit laden grape vine and access to a washing machine. If you are looking for somewhere very slow paced a d peaceful, this could be it.

  • It is a very lovely place to stay. It is a cozy old house in a very quite village. Annouk is very good in decorating. Even though she was not there we had a very nice, friendly and helpful neighbour (Laurence) who welcomed us in a very warmly way. We really felt good there.

  • We recommend very much the owner (Annouk), house (Dadigdone), place (La Bastidonne) and region (Luberon).
We were in three ( my wife, my daughter and me) and had a great time there. Simple but comfortable.
The breakfast and dinner & vine in the terrace, looking the grapes growing, will remain in our memories.

  • We have spent 10 days in Annouk’s place with our kids. It is a very charming, lovely and spacious house in the middle of the Provence area with a beautiful view on the mountains. La Bastidonne is a very quiet village, with friendly atmosphere far away from the highways’s traffic. It ’s an ideal choice if You wish to discover the Provence area. (or just to relax)
There is a beautiful small lake 10 minutes drive from the house, where You have chance for swimming and also You can have a good pizza there. (The service is very funny, You have to go there and see!) In the surrounding villages there are many castles to discover. We liked the landscape with all the vineyards and lavender plantation.
Annouk is very friendly, and helpful. She provided us many useful information, and she was always available in any case.
I would surely recommend Annouk’s house. It is perfect also for families with children.
The baguette and the croissant were excellent in the village supermarket, we could hardly wait for the shop to open in the morning!

We enjoyed our stay very much!

  • Annouk's house was charming! It has the perfect setting and is pretty well connected. The village was really perfect and all the people we met there were friendly. The house has all amenities. Annouk is full of information and the Pizza place she recommended was really awesome. I would recommend Annouk's place to anyone.

  • I only wish I had experienced the Annouk everyone has been writing about. The woman I encountered was like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, at times friendly, at times unreliable, rude and nasty. She should not be hosting on Airbnb as long as she has such an attitude. My party of four were extremely disappointed with Annouk and her lodgings to the point that while we had booked her place for four nights, we left after the first night. Four days prior to our arrival, Annouk sent me an email asking if she could call me that day. I did not receive a call from her until the day of our arrival and not before I prompted her with a concerned email. On the other hand, I communicated with her every step of the way. She let me know in advance that she would be out of town when we arrived, changed her plans without giving us prior notice, then complained that we arrived too late at night, and she knew we had at least an eight hour drive to her place. She warmly invited me to pick cherries from a tree on her side of the property, then yelled at me the next day when I went to do so. Her advertisement, as well as her reviews, were misleading. Her lodgings were dirty: I found hairs on the pillow cases, a bathroom rug was gray from dirt; and dangerous: I slipped on her bamboo bath mat which had gotten wet as there was no shower door or curtain, and was quite slippery. There were no curtains in front of the windows, the tiled floor upstairs and on the staircase had numerous cracks. The staircase was narrow and dangerous. The password for the internet was not legible. From the photos on airbnb, we had thought we would be staying in the countryside, instead, her house was located in a small village with no view from our quarters. We took photos from the inside of the house, and we are willing to share them with anybody who is interested in renting this house. Our advice is to stay away.

    Response from Annouk:

Judy, It sound that for your first airbnb experience we agree you not fitting with the spirit of respect and kindness of this community. You are the only person with such negative and inaproppriate comments. Wish you all the best in your future trips in Hotels.

  • Annouk's place is charming and funky! She is a great host with a ton of information. She is very connected with arts and music so if you are an afficianado than this place is for you in Provence!

  • Annouk has accumulated a bushel of glowing reviews, and I am very happy to add another one.

Joshua provides a thoughtful review that echoes my opinions most accurately. It may seem a bit lazy of me, but what Joshua says goes for me and my family as well. What I have to say is in addition:

Annouk's is a very old property with exposed beams and some stone interior walls. It has been lovingly remodeled and modernized, but preserves its authentic Provencal character at every turn.

In terms of hospitality, Annouk and her rental property exude Provencality. I would render the Provencal spirit this way:

"It's more important to be comfortable than to be precise; and, savor life's simple pleasures with passion, and don't stress over the little things."

There are "little things" with the property, things you should expect (and cherish) if you are seeking to immerse yourself in an authentic Provencal experience. Uneven floors, 3 working burners on a 4 burner gas stove, a quirky oven, a steep and winding staircase with no two steps exactly proportioned, a threadbare curtain here, a missing floor tile there, a shower that splashes a bit, perhaps.

The "little things" are what make this property a living gem. Right away I found myself making accommodations for the house, and in return, the house accommodated me right back.

Annouk is a delightful and charming hostess, down-to-earth as we say, and a wellspring of information and connections for semi-hapless American tourists like me and my family. Annouk made our every inquiry or special request a top priority and followed through as if we were royalty.

To Annouk we extend heartfelt thanks for making our stay most enjoyable.

  • Annouk was a lovely host. Her apartment was large and clean, perfect for four people.

Parking in the village was easy and was a great base for driving around Provence.

I would definitely stay here again

  • A Provence é muito bonita e imperdível. A Annouke é atenciosa e sua casa é linda. Até que enfim vi neve, pois mesmo em outubro fez muito frio. Alugamos carro e visitamos várias pequenas cidades e castelos da região.
