Welcome to your temporary home from home, for however long your travels. Basia and Ze are happy to welcome you into their flat in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town with a cozy room available for your stay.
Edinburgh’s Old Town stretches along a high ridge from Edinburgh Castle on its dramatically situated rock down to the Palace of Holyrood where the Queen actually stays on her trips to town, both visitable. The castle and palace are connected by the famous Royal Mile, the oldest street in town, one mile in length, filled with historic buildings end-to-end and all around. The Old Town is characterised by the survival of the little-altered medieval “fishbone” streets, which are lined with some of the best wool shops, pubs, bars, restaurants and historical monuments in Edinburgh.
Our flat in Old Town is located on Guthrie Street. It is a small side street and its 'S' shape links Chambers Street with Cowgate. The best point about our flat is the location. You cannot beat this location. The flat is in walking distance to everything. Only two-minutes walk is separating you from National Museum of Scotland, statue of Greyfriars Bobby, Meadows parks and Elephant House Cafe, where Harry Potter was written. You'll be standing a mere seven-minute stroll from the Edinburgh Castle, the Scott Monument, the National Gallery of Scotland and Princes Street Gardens, where every December Highland Village and Traditional German Christmas Markets are inviting you for yummy Angus beef burger and delicious Glühwein (a special brew of mulled of wine and herbs). The flat is equally close to Edinburgh Waverly train station, which is where the airport bus also drops its passengers. We cannot forget about the glorious Arthur’s Seat where in less than 15 minutes you can find yourself immersed in a mini wilderness and admire amazing Edinburgh’s panorama views at the same time. So if you are a walker or a jogger don’t forget pack your trainers or walking shoes. You must go for a walk or run around Arthur’s Seat. The best place ever to do it.
You'll be welcomed into bright and airy, Georgian-era two bedroom flat, with its high ceilings and big windows, complemented by wooden floors and all the amenities you'd expect. The flat consists of an open plan kitchen/living room and bathroom with shower.
The bedroom available for you is suitable for one or a couple and, in addition to the comfortable double bed, there is also a writing desk, a chair and a mirrored wardrobe for storage. We always provide fresh bedding and towels. You are more than welcome to make yourself at home and use the kitchen, living space, washing machine and etc when you need it. Coffee and tea and self-serve continental breakfast included. Throughout the flat you will find free, unlimited high-speed wireless internet.

We had a really lovely stay at Barbara's flat. It could not be in a better location. We were right in the heart of Edinburgh, but without the noise that I was expecting. Barbara's flat is charming, tidy and full of personality. It really offers the Airbnb experience; you feel as though you have a home in an unfamiliar place. Unfortunately, Barbara was not there during our stay, but assured that her friend would help us with check-in, which was a piece-of-cake. All-in-all, we couldn't have hoped for a better place to stay. I would happily return a second time.
Barbara was a gracious and considerate host who made us feel welcome in her home. The space is as advertised and very clean. The main living area is very comfortable and a nice space to relax. I now understand why named "heat of city centre", the location is terrific. The flat is right in the middle of the old city and within a few minutes walk of all major sites, best restaurants and train station. Especially if you only have a few days as we did, this makes a big difference. I would recommend to all.
My boyfriend and I could not have received a warmer welcome to Edinburgh! We had a lovely time in Barbara and Ze's home, and baby Antek totally made the trip for us - his smiles were definitely infectious! The flat was totally spotless and very homely. It would have been difficult to find a more central location, and it was great to be so close to the city centre. The bedroom was cosy and comfortable, and Barbara had thought of everything we might need and more - including slippers and earplugs (there was a little noise from passers-by at night as we were staying during the weekend, but this is only to be expected given the central location of the flat and the proximity of bars/clubs). Barbara was such a great host - a lovely breakfast table was laid out for us every morning and we could help ourselves to cereals, toast, tea/coffee, juice, etc. Ze was away for the weekend so we didn't get to meet him this time, but we met a couple of their friends who were both lovely. Overall I would highly recommend staying with Barbara and Ze if you're planning a trip to Edinburgh!
Barbara and Antic made me feel so welcomed. From the moment I walked in, to the time I checked out, I enjoyed my stay at the Room in the heart of city-center. Barbara and Antic's home was my first time lodging with an airbnb service. I love the concept and it's practice. As a single female, it can be tricky to find a place that is safe and welcoming. Barbara made sure I felt both comforts. The room was close to several key visitor spots like the Edinburgh Castle and great restaurants. My favorite, however, were the coffee shops nearby. For a writer, these cozy spots are like heaven on earth. The Black Medicine Coffee Co was a hop, skip and a jump away, as well as the University of Edinburgh. My presentation on Ancestral Computing for Sustainability was well-received, and of course, I arrived to the conference center with clear directions from Barbara. (: She has U.S.-European adapters in the room, a fast wi-fi connection and earplugs to use in case one wanted to listen to the silence of our breath in bed, I suppose. :) Thank you for hosting me, Barbara!
Excellent location in the heart of Old Town in Edinburgh, close to museums, shops, tourist attractions, and a mere 10-15 minute walk from the central train station. Barbara was a kind and attentive host, and made me feel right at home. Room was clean and very comfortable. Thanks for everything!
Barbara was an incredible host and it was a clean room/apartment. She was very eager to point me in the right direction in Edinburgh and take the time to get to know us. I would recommend her to anyone.
