The peace and quiet and privacy here will amaze you, and there is virtually no traffic near us as we are situated at the turnaround of a small paved road high on the slope, and at the end of a long, steep private drive. On the surrounding mountains to the Ocean, on all sides you will see nothing but forests and meadows dotted by a few fine houses in the distance with their cheerful lights at night.
Forests below you and blueberry fields above, you look down over the lush treetops or pick your own blueberries in season above the house. All neighbors are acres away and almost completely invisible. You will have to crick your neck to see the rooftop of one of them behind you from the wide porch, and then you will only see a part of a roof. You may see bald eagles and hawks soar below you!
You see dozens of the islands on the Ocean, with Cadillac Mountain in the distance on Mt. Desert Island in Acadia National Park 50 miles away as the crow flies. The sunrise—if you are up for it—will sparkle on the water and sunsets will turn it a deep pink. The area provides infinite possibility for the Nature lover, sailor, historian, art aficionado, birdwatcher or stargazer. For those who long for the water there are daysails, bareboat charters (better be an experienced skipper), lighthouse trips, lobster fishing cruises and ecotours, lobster-bakes on islands, ferries, whale-watching, kayak and rafting trips, and three to six day nautical adventures on the classic tall ships and wooden schooners known locally and historically as Windjammers. For landlubbers there are hiking trails, starting right outside your door, all over Camden Hills State Park and beyond, as well as on breathtakingly beautiful trails known only to locals, which we will share with you when you come. If you are a bird lover, you will have an overwhelming chorus of birdsong right up at the house. The night sky is amazing. There is world-class cuisine and all manner of dining experiences, from waterfront fish-shacks to French to be had in the area, as well as the Farnsworth Art Museum, home of the Wyeth collection, and historic old harbors and quaint, busy waterfronts everywhere, filled with fishing vessels, luxury yachts from all over the world, and classic wooden sailboats.

Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as they like! We are always there for them, 24/7 day and night, by Cell, Text, in person, whatever they need. We have made friends over the years, in some cases without ever meeting them in person. Other guests did not feel the need to meet us, but insisted on meeting our two champion-line German Shepherd stud dogs and rescue Pommeranian, LOL
Flughafen Portland, Rockland, Bangor, Boston
Other Things to Note
One week minimum Saturday to Saturday in July and August thanks; right now there's an exception for last week in August and til July 18!
Use of wood stove for safety reasons on a case by case only at sole discretion of the owner. Care must be taken with the unconventionally steep steps, spiral staircase, and wooden decks, especially in the case of children, the elderly or infirm, or in increment weather. Kindly leave the house in the condition that you found it, used towels on the bathroom floor or in the whirlpool tub, no need to strip the beds. Kindly do not eat or drink in bed and take care of and respect such things as the upholstery and hand made oriental rugs as you would in your own house. Be gentle with the antique chairs, etc. Feel free to walk in the blueberry fields and to harvest some for your own use in season. If you have a dog, kindly have him use a soiling area in the trees and not in the blueberry fields, and do make sure he stays in voice range and answers your voice commands. The heat will be set for cool nights year round and you can leave it at that setting during the day if you wish and adjust as needed, but take care as heat rises into the lofts and you may become uncomfortably hot in the loft bedrooms at night if you set it too high. Extra wool blankets are in the chests and closets, as are extra towels and linens. Help yourself to spices and anything you like in the kitchen. If you invade the larder more than a little kindly replace items. Someone will be in during hot weather to water the gardens and container plants. If you wish for total privacy on the deck you can either inform us by cell phone when you will be out of offer to water the plants yourself, if that is something you might enjoy. Let us know in advance so we can adjust to your preferences if this is of importance to you. We divide our time between Maine and Boston but if you need us, we ourselves or someone in the area standing by will be at your service at short notice, and always available by cell for any eventualities. Large parties up to eight are allowed with the proviso that the floor plan is very open, ski-lodge style, with loft bedrooms open to the great room and a convertible library/third bedroom at the great room level, but that all are open and although you will have some visual privacy in the respective nooks the beds are tucked back in, there is little auditory privacy; you know your group. We have had many such groups here, but we always warn them about that openness, which at the same time is part of the extraordinary charm of the place, with light and views, high ceilings and wood all round, in every direction, a unique and remarkable place, very private, charming, with an expansive feel, rustic but with some very good things, close to harbor towns and overlooking mountains and sea from a height.
