About this listing
This one-bedroom house is perfect for those who are looking for a private and personal home with character where they can feel comfortable and relaxed. It was built by a local architect who specializes in villa design and modern tropical interiors. The house was renovated and updated in November 2012.
The house features a living room, with a peaked ceiling, and small study area. The decor includes hand-woven rattan and leather furniture, antique stone carvings, and a painting by a local Balinese artist. Guests will immediately feel comfortable and at home in this warm setting. There is also a flat-screen television with cable channels for those who are looking for some entertainment.
Adjacent to the living room is an air-conditioned bedroom, also with a peaked rattan thatched ceiling. Guests have their own ensuite bathroom with built-in closets and changing area. The bathroom opens to an outdoor shower, which has hot water.
There is an outdoor kitchen, complete with refrigerator, gas stove and oven for those who like to cook, and basic cookware. The dining area is also outdoors, covered by a pergola to protect from the rain and sun. The bedroom and dining area open to the back private garden that provides air, light and greenery to the back of the house.
The house is located in a local neighborhood, which is perfect for expatriates looking for a residence, or visitors who want to experience life outside of the tourist areas in Bali. The street is the last one in the community, which borders on open rice fields. A short walk up the road, guests will find local restaurants that specialize in Balinese and Javanese food, as well as convenience stores and places to rent scooters (for the adventurous).
While guests will enjoy the quiet feel of this community, they are not far from the attractions of life in Seminyak. The best restaurants in Seminyak - such as Metis and Sardines - are approximately 10 minutes by car from the house. The closest beach, Batu Belig, is less than 15 minutes by car or scooter. A modern equipped gym and yoga pavilion is located a 5 minute walk from the house for those looking for exercise.
Daily maid service and regular gardening services are included in the price. Given that internet access in Bali is poor, the villa has been recently connected to a satellite internet connection which is more reliable than landlines or cable connections.
Although there are no washer/dryer facilities on the premises, a local laundry service will pick-up and drop-off. Guests will be responsible for paying for the laundry services (the costs, however, are very reasonable; washing and ironing a T-shirt will costs less than US$0.50). Airport pick-up or drop off can be requested, for an additional Rp 200,000 (approximately US$20).
Longer term guests (longer than three months) will pay a lower nightly rate, but will be responsible for paying the electricity costs, which average approximately US$50 per month, depending on usage.
No smoking allowed inside the house, but guests are free to smoke in the outdoor kitchen and dining room area. No pets allowed given that the front and back gardens are too small for animals.
About the Host, Edgar
I have been living in Indonesia since 2006, working part of my time in Jakarta and living in Bali part-time. There are many reasons for why I stay in this country and Bali is one of the main reasons. I love the views, the beach, the food - and am happy to share my advice and recommendations with guests staying at the villa.
