Overall, this is a pretty solid apt for the price and space. The bed is comfortable and the location is ideal. Though there are a few things that could be improved. 1) I stayed there during very hot and humid days and was disappointed that the AC was not working. I had to make do with the fan 2) The Wifi was always spotty and slow and I had to keep restarting it for it to work. 3) A warning for anyone who has allergies/hay fever, the place is dusty since it basically doubles as storage. The storage areas need to be dusted down. Hopefully all these things will be addressed.
I never met Philip, but he was mostly good with communicating.
First of all: the apartment is a lot larger than it appears in the photos. The host (Philip) was accomodating and friendly. The location is very practical; only steps away from the subway, prospect park, shops, restaurants, laundry, etc. Earlier guests commented on stuff stored in the bedroom, but I did not experience this as a problem. It is not in the way and even covered up, and you are going to run into some of the hosts personal items in just about any airbnb.
As previous guests also noted: the bed pictured in the living room is no longer there. When I visited there was only a folded up futon mattress on the floor. While I had no need for the extra sleeping space it was a little disappointing that there was no couch or anything to sit comfortably.
Overall, I had a good experience here, and would recommend it as a practical and affordable option.
The best way to keep in touch with the host is by text. Philip is very helpful, and, to be honest, quite mysterious.
My stay here is pleasant in general, even though the room is not exactly the same as the photos. For example, in the living room there is only a mattress without box. I can tell the apartment is still in the process of decoration, but it is in a fair condition, especially taking the price into consideration. The location is super perfect for travelers who travel by metro.
My third visit. Very smooth. This is a great apartment in a perfect location. Train station is literally across the street. And Philip is great. I'll be back. Thank you.
Phillip was extra accommodating, even with my really late check-in time. The place was clean, comfortable, and in a good location right next to the subway to Manhattan. The place was also close to Prospect Park. Thanks for your help in making my trip fantastic!
THE GOOD: Good amount of space, great location close to Prospect Park and the subway station just across the street.
THE BAD: Despite giving 2 hours notice of our time of arrival, we still had to wait for Philip for almost 2 hours when we arrived. He wouldn't answer phone calls and kept texting he was on his way but he never showed up and a neighbor let us in for him. We actually never even met Philip once during our 2 night stay. When we walked in the apartment, it had a bad smell and did not give the impression it had been cleaned recently, with the bad smelling sheets/mattress an especially bothersome issue. The place wasn't stocked with toilet paper, so when the remaining roll ran out, I asked Philip to provide more and he tersely told me to buy some myself across the street at the supermarket. The LEAST they could do is provide toilet paper. Also, the toilet seat was broken. The pictures on the listing are not accurate, as one bed is just a dirty old mattress on the floor, without the frame shown in the pictures. It wasn't nearly as nice and clean as the pictures, and some of the furniture is different.
Despite the location and space, I wouldn't recommend this place and wouldn't stay there again.
My stay was very pleasant at this place. The host was very easy to communicate with and flexible. The apartment is simple and basic. It is also right across from the subway station which makes the commute pretty easy.
