As conservationists, the owners chose this property for its unique connection between the mountains and the sea, which provides for an abundant amount of biodiversity in flora and fauna. They thought to incorporate the natural landscape into the architecture of the home, so guests could enjoy the wildlife and natural breezes provided. They left the forest virtually untouched. Instead of cutting down the trees to increase already outstanding vista, they maintained the primary forest to attract and live within this realm. This experience is unparalleled – even in Costa Rica.
The Osa is in the southern most Pacific region of Costa Rica. It is famed for its natural beauty and its unique geography in which mountains meet ocean. The Osa Peninsula, south of Uvita, is world famous for its biodiversity. Osa is said to have more species of trees in a single hectare than all of France.
Uvita is famous for its National Marine Park Ballena which is home to the birthing ground of humpback whales from both the Arctic and Antarctic. Whale watching is in high season between December and March and July and October every year. From Uvita recreating at sea is easy – boats leave the bay for whale watching, snorkeling and diving daily. World-class sport fishing is also available.
From the house the nearest beach is Playa Hermosa which is a 5 minute drive. Domincal’s long surf breaks are 15 minutes and Playa Ballena is also about 15 minutes.
