About our neighborhood: [Source: WikiTravel]
Bywater is a neighborhood a bit east (down river) from the French Quarter with a healthy mix of blue collar folks who grew up here, and more recent bohemian arrivals. Artists and musicians relocated here when the French Quarter became too pricy. It is primarily residential but undeniably hip; there are lively pubs, restaurants and randomly placed edgy found-object art scattered throughout the neighborhood. Travelers and residents from other parts of the city are steadily discovering this neighborhood's old-time, laid-back charm.

First time to the city and our stay at Moon over Mazant made the trip an ease!! From arrival to departure, there wasn't anything more we could've asked for. Stephen and Jim provided great recommendations, tips and insight to our stay. We will be back guys, thanks for everything.
Absolutely fantastic! We enjoyed ourselves immensely in New Orleans. Our hosts were superb in every way. We hope to come back someday.
Stephen and Jim have a lovely gem of a place in the Bywater and are truly amazing hosts. Attention to detail and all the little things that wow us were seemingly endless. Also, they accommodated a last minute scheduling change and allowed us to check in sooner, for which made our visit even easier. Thank you!
Stephen and Jim were bloody fantastic. They were the perfect hosts. Add to that the incredible house in amazing area of the city and you should not look any further.
Moon Over Mazant was the perfect experience for our first trip to New Orleans! Stephen and Jim are amazing hosts who will go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable! Not only is the house wonderful but they also offer coffee and fresh fruit. The outside garden area is the perfect way to end the day! Sit back, relax and enjoy a cocktail! The Bywater neighborhood is the perfect area to immerse yourself in New Orleans life! Funky joints, great dive bars, and lovely homes! It is a wonderful change of pace from the French Quarter. Stephen and Jim recommended great restaurants and also helped us with the bus schedules. We really enjoyed their company and conversation! If you are planning a trip to New Orleans, you are crazy not to stay here!
If you're interested in experiencing the real New Orleans, that's the place for you to stay! Stephen and Jim were wonderful hosts and made our stay very pleasant and exciting. They introduced us to Bywater and especially to their neighborhood. There are lots of great places to go out in the evening. The apartment was amazing - cozy, clean and quiet. We would be happy to stay there again and definitely recommend this place.
A lovely place to rest your weary head after a full day of taking advantage of all New Orleans has to offer. We were there for Jazz Fest and to visit friends and family, so, honestly, we were completely over scheduled and only spent time there to sleep.
Regardless, Stephen & Jim's place is comfortable, quiet, full of charming details and antiques, and they are terrific hosts as well.
Great location, near many of our favorite restaurants (the Joint, Bacchanal, Elizabeth's, Satsuma, I could go on & on).
Our time at Stephen's place was dreamy. I will forever look back on it fondly. The house is stunning, beautifully appointed, and has a warmth to it that is rare for Air Bnb accommodation. The provision of bicycles and food items like fruit, cereal, coffee, milk, wine, made took our experience to the next level.
As a host, Stephen made sure we had everything we needed from the onset. His friendliness, approachability, and communicative nature ensured that this was the best Air Bnb experience we've had of all the bookings we've made on our 3 month holiday.
Thank you Stephen!!
What can I say that hasn't been said in the other 96 reviews here. Stephen and Jim were fantastic hosts. We arrived at the airport rather late and didn't make it to the house until 11PM. Stephen and Jim were having cocktails in the garden patio area with a fire going when we arrived, and were eager to show us around the accommodation and invite us to join them! Cocktails on the patio along with a rousing discussion of the neighborhood and city was a great way to start the trip. They even accompanied us (email hidden) later that evening.
As many others have mentioned, the hosts are knowledgable and available if you need them, but will give you your privacy if you don't. The house is great, complete with snacks, cereal, water, beer, OJ, wine, etc. The neighborhood is extremely charming and safe with lots within walking distance, include a pretty easy walk to the French Quarter.
We will definitely being coming back to see Stephen and Jim, this great neighborhood, and lovely city!
Stephen and Jim were wonderful hosts! The" Mazant" house was exceptional. I would compare it to a five star hotel and the location was great. Steps from the bus; winery; "The Joint"; the park.
Stephen and Jim made certain that our time at their location was exceptional. Not only did they keep in touch with us throughout the day to be sure we were doing alright with our first trip to NOLA, but took time out of their personal schedule to take us to see John Buttie, a local favorite; setting up a tour of the mansions; along with having dinner on their patio with a few of their friends, fire pit roaring and music that we all enjoyed.
Jim and Stephen are so knowledgeable of the NOLA area. Very patient and willing to take the time to answer all questions.
I will definitely go back to "Moon Over Mazant" be it to visit Stephen and Jim or to visit NOLA. It was a great experience overall!!!
