Welcome, fellow Airbnber.
Please take a look at my house for rent, just south of Town Lake/downtown, in the unique Bouldin Creek neighborhood of Austin.
The house has a spacious master bedroom with a queen bed and a brand new sleeper sofa with a memory foam queen bed in the media room. I also have a comfortable couch in the living room that would sleep an extra person if need be. So, 4-5 people max could rent this space as long as they don't mind sharing 1 bathroom.
The house has a nice, fenced backyard -perfect for hanging out - and 2 bikes and a tricycle (for your tiny tot) at your disposal. It is located approx. 1.5 mi from the heart of downtown and about .6 mi from the Town Lake hike and bike trail, which is great for jogging, biking, canoeing, strolling, picnics, etc.
Space will be made in the closets so you can hang your clothes. Clean towels/linens will be provided. I have full cable television and WiFi. If television isn't your thing, you can listen to Pandora or use the iPod dock which connects to a sound system that can be heard throughout the house. I also have a large collection of books and magazines if you prefer to read . . . or you could meander over to South 1st or South Congress or down to Barton Springs for some shopping, live music, good eats, or a swim.
We are walking distance to plenty of great coffee shops, food trailers/restaurants, Alamo Drafthouse movie theater, bars, parks, and more.
Please contact me with any questions you might have about the house.
I look forward to hearing from you!
This was our first stay at an (website hidden) home. Having just arrived in Austin we booked and stayed in the Bouldin Cottage for a month while looking for a new home and exploring neighborhoods. Bouldin was a great neighborhood to explore and the house had many conveniences that we needed for our stay, ie, fenced in yard for our dog, a kitchen, laundry, and wifi.
The house itself was a bit crowded with knick knacks and the owners things in and on every surface which made it less comfortable for our longer stay as it would have been nice to put things away during our stay as is normal in a (website hidden).
The owner, Beau, was quick and kind in responding to our questions and issues. All in all, we enjoyed the neighborhood, its restaurants and our dog walks.
The location of this house is perfect. There are tons of great restaurants, shops and other attractions within a mile radius, plus the immediate area is nice for walking. But unlike other VR's I've stayed in, this is clearly someone's home, not a dedicated rental. The closet and drawers have clothes in them, there are prescription meds and hypodermics in the fridge, and the decor is pretty specific. There are more decorations than the pictures in the ad reflect -- masks, antlers, taxidermy, and lots of collectibles. I found it kind of extreme for a VR, but judging by the other reviews, most people like it.
As another reviewer mentioned, there's no microwave or dishwasher. Also, no toaster or blender, and the coffee maker is a Chemex. There are a washer and dryer in a room outside the kitchen door. There's an attic apartment upstairs, but most of the time I was there, no one was up there. The screen door was REALLY creaky, so loud I thought it would bother the neighbors, but I put some WD-40 on it, and the creaking stopped. I stayed there during a cold week, and on the third night, the heater stopped working. It was a holiday, so the repairman didn't show up for two more days. I borrowed some space heaters and plugged them in, which eventually tripped a breaker, so there was no power in two rooms. I told Beau about this, and he gave some suggestions about how to get the power back on, which I was able to do, but the space heaters kept tripping the breaker, so I had to keep flipping the switch on the panel during the three nights the central heat wasn't working.
Beau does have a very generous pet policy -- he let me have a dog visit during my stay without an extra deposit, as long as I picked up after her in the backyard. Overall this house has some quirks, but as someone who is from Austin and has also stayed in a lot of VR's there, I think you can't beat the location, and the price is pretty good for the area.
We stayed here a month and loved it!
The cottage is very pretty, and nicely appointed with good A/C and heat, a great bed, and awesome bathroom. The decor is super cool and stylish, blending modern design with dark americana and psychedelic cowboys and indians. Really great! Only thing to watch out for is that the kitchen is minimally equipped. No microwave, no toaster, no dishwasher. It does have a big double sink and a good gas stove.
Beau is super cool and helpful. Here's a story: Somehow the smoke alarm went off, and he got an alert on his phone. He called right away to check in, and the FIRST thing he asked was "Are you ok?" He didn't ask about his house until he had made sure we were safe and secure.
The neighborhood is super hip and colorful. Awesome cafes and food trucks and boutiques and restaurants within a few blocks. It's the place to be.
Great place to stay! Awesome location!
This is a great house with cool decor and lovely morning light. I really enjoyed my stay, lots of fun things to do within walking distance. Beau is also a great host; he was sweet enough to leave us a bottle of champagne because we were staying for our wedding weekend. Perfect place to enjoy a visit to Austin! Highly recommended!
Stayed in Beau's cottage for an awesome weekend with a guest. Great location close to everything. In addition to it being clean and neat, Beau has decorated the place in a great manner. Gave me some good ideas for my own place. Definitely recommend taking a look at it.
Beau was also very responsive and helpful with everything.
Great host. Beautiful artsy house located between s.lamar and soco. Provided many amenities and was very kind.
Very happy I stayed here.
We had a wonderful trip to Austin and enjoyed staying at Beau's comfortable home. It was perfect for our family of four and conveniently located near downtown and South Congress. Additionally, there were several cute restaurants and shops within walking distance. Although we had a car, the bus line was right in front of Beau's house. The bed and pullout sofa were both very comfortable; shower pressure great with plenty of hot water. Beau's house was very charming and full of interesting books and items - my two teenage boys enjoyed looking at everything. Also, Beau's home is in a great neighborhood. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Beau's cottage was perfect. His location is incredible.. close to everything! The sleeper sofa was very comfortable as is the bed. We had 4 people stay when we visited, and his house fit just right. He left the ipod dock for us to use and he had wifi. If we had any problem or questions, we just texted Beau. He was always quick to respond. Still cannot get over how close we were to everything. When we come back to visit Austin, we hope to stay here again!
We had a great stay at Beau's cottage. The house was clean but had a lot of character, and we really enjoyed hanging out on the back deck. We were able to fit five people without any problems. The location is awesome, with easy access to the shops, bars and restaurants on South Congress. Beau was quick to respond to questions and very flexible regarding our check-in and check-out times. Nothing but good things to say—I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
