The location was great, and the house itself seem to have nice bones.
But frankly the Elegant "Entire" 15 room house wasn't at all what got. There were only three real bedrooms available to us. One room that was supposed to be a bedroom was a kids art studio with the queen blowup mattress. The downstairs bedroom that's off the kitchen actually doesn't have a door that closes to the main part of the house. The bedrooms on the 3rd floor were taken. Out of the two ovens and dishwashers only one worked the other wouldn't shut completely. And one of the dishwashers was broken. There was no space in the freezer what so ever for our food. But the worst was having to share the house when we had rented it as an "entire" house.
If we had known that there were other Air B&B guests in another room or the nanny there,we would not have rented this house. In all fairness a couple weeks before our trip the owner said that there were going to be other people in the house. He said we would hardly see them. In reality we saw them often and had to share the kitchen with them. He also said that we could cancel. But canceling nine round-trip airfares from the West Coast wasn't a possibility and it was too late to try to find another house in Montclair.
We arrived after a long flight & were offered a glass of wine. The listing was very accurate in that our international family reunion of 12 were able to comfortably stay & eat at the extended dining table. There are several cozy, engaging spots for conversation & hanging out. A bonus we didn't know about was the beautiful outdoor porch. Diners, a fantastic bookstore, & views of NYC on our walk there are all part of easily accessible Montclair town center.
The house felt like home. We were a couple of families and there was lots of room for everyone. We found everything we needed and enjoyed being there. Easy trips to and from the city.
Our family had a great stay. The house is huge with lots of room on multiple floors. The neighborhood is very nice and the hosts were very accomodating to our needs.
Wonderful house to stay in with lots of space, very comfortable. House is in a nice town as well. Make sure you find out where you can park on the street and make sure you get wifi access before the owners leave.
The house is huge and cozy, and can fit 13 people easily. The bus stop to Manhattan is less than 5 minutes away. The kitchen is big and well equipped.
Make sure before you book if you get the whole house or you should share it with the Au pair. When we stayed there we had to share it with her. As well, when we stayed in the house, the internet didn't work, and no solution was found for the whole stay.
