Bed + Breakfast near the beach!

Apartment - Private room · Río Tangeria, Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, Mexico

Comfortable and private room with private bath, in a large 2-bedroom apartment just steps from the beach and downtown Zihuatanejo.

The Space

Nice and cool private room with private bath in a large 2 bedroom apartment, just steps from the beach and within a 10 minute walk to downtown Zihuatanejo.

The room is fully furnished with a large A/C unit with its own private bath and shower. The apartment itself is large and airy, located on the second floor in a quiet, family oriented complex. If you are coming here by car there's off-street parking right outside my building.

The kitchen is pretty well stocked in terms of cooking utensils, please feel free to prepare your meals here. A delicious daily breakfast of tropical fruits, organic and locally grown coffee and fresh breads will be supplied for guests staying for a 1 week (6 nights) minimum.

Nearby is the downtown area with many restaurants, farmers markets, shops and cafes, as well as several beaches which are within a 5 to 15 minute walk. If you prefer to get a ride to the beach, you'll find plenty of taxis and collectivo buses that pass by within a block from my apartment which head towards the beach and downtown. Renting a car is not really necessary.

If you are interested in language exchange programs, cooking classes, surfing, scuba, snorkeling, yoga, cultural excursions, etc, I've lived in the area for over 8 years and am happy to provide insider info and recommendations on what to do and where to go! Ask me about the local hot springs and waterfalls ... these are places even some long time Zihua residents have yet to find ;)

Our international airport is only a fifteen minute ride from my place and you can either opt for a private taxi, local collectivo van or I can arrange to pick you up for a minimal charge.

If you want to have an authentic Zihua experience, meet the locals and get a real taste for the area, you will not be sorry coming to stay with me !!

Guest Access

Guests will have access to the kitchen, dining room and living area.

Interaction with Guests

I will be present during my guests stay to help orient them here and get them set up with any kind of activities they might be interested in.

The Neighborhood

I love my neighborhood, its close to the beach and also a quick walk into downtown. The neighborhood is Mexican and local with just a couple of gringos living in the complex. I like the familiar feel and all the neighbors here are really friendly.

Getting around

There is convenient public transportation to the beach and also to downtown. Mostly everything is within a quick walk.

  • My partner and I were looking for a comfortable home like environment over christmas and Mauras place was perfect! Such a short walk to everything. Beautiful La Ropa beach and the main town center were easily a nice 10 minutes away. Maura was very welcoming and allowed us to feel very at home and for that we thank her greatly.

  • Good location, very near to beach. Obtaining key and meeting with Maura was simple and her information regarding the area was accurate. I enjoyed Zihuatenejo and will travel here again.
    Thank-you Maura

  • Good basic accommodations in the home of a very Mexico savvy expat. Your hostess herself was the best part. She really knows and loves Mexico and is a wealth of information. Neither WiFi nor TV were working for my stay (She did warn me ahead to expect that) but that's Mexico for ya ;)
Zihuat is a small beach town and Maura knows it well. Her recommendations for recreation, dining, and basic services were always spot on, and much appreciated. Thanks!

  • Maura was a wonderful host, full of helpful tips to help us find our way about town. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with her.

  • We had an allergy reaction to the cats so we left after the first night. Maura was very understanding and refunded the balance for the next two nights.

  • Maura was a very kind and helpful host. The location of her apartment is great- close to the beaches and restaurants. The room was a little warm but the air conditioner was very helpful at night.

  • I stayed at Maura's for 3 days before the rest of my group arrived and couldn't have been happier. She showed me around, answered an absurd number of my questions and was just a nice, fun person to hang out with. We went surfing, eating, drinking and all the things you do in Zihua. It was great having someone who knew her way around and she introduced me to many cool people. Once my friends arrived we all hung out as one big family. Amazing trip.

    Thanks a ton Maura!

  • Maura was a great hos, niec and helpfull and her place was really great.
The house is situated in a calm and quiet local neighbourhood and it only takes 5-10 minutes to go to either La Madera or La Ropa. The room is nice and clean and well equipped with aircondition and fan.
Marua gave me directions for finding everything, and made me feel very welcome in both her house and in the city of Zihuatanejo. I can recommend staying with Maura anytime!

  • Maura's apartment is a short walk to Playa Madera and into town to the Mercado Central. It's clean, and quiet yet close to everything and inexpensive.
Maura is very helpful and pleasant. She's very active, swimming, running, surfing, diving and living the good life, so we often had her home all to ourselves. She welcomed us with "Mi casa es su casa", and it truly was.
We were there early from 20/10 to 31/10 and it was still hot. So was the apartment but the A/C in the bedroom was adequate.
The power and the water each went off once, but returned by afternoon.
We had some great excursions to the archaeological site at La Chole, and the wildlife refuge at Barra de Potosi, snorkeling at Manzanillo, beaches, dinners...all with suggestions from Maura.

  • Zihua is definitely a nice place to go. Maura's home is very well located (you can reach the center and the beaches on foot), Maura was very helpful during our stay (beaches, shopping, restaurants, activities like surf for instance). Very friendly host, and so are her cats Cookie & Co ;)
    Just go !

Zihua I.D. - Construction Management, Interior Design & Consulting Services, Mountain Creek
I'm originally from NYC but have been living in this pacific coastal paradise for almost 8 years. I love to surf, scuba dive, sail, snowboard and travel. Basically anything involving the ocean or the mountains is where I am most happy. I just started to host people through the airbnb website and I am really enjoying the experience. The place where I live is a real paradise and I look forward to showing guests around and giving recommendations on local spots and things to do!!
