Comfy private room with private bath, a/c and WiFi just steps from the beach and charming downtown Zihuatanejo.
** A light breakfast is included in the nightly rate for guests staying more than a week. For shorter stays, I am happy to provide a light breakfast at an additional cost. Thank you **
I have a comfy and cool private room with private bath and a/c in a large 2 bedroom apartment, just steps from the beach and within a 10 minute walk to downtown Zihuatanejo.
The room is furnished with a comfortable double bed, dresser and open closet. There's a private bath with shower and I provide bath towels, soap and shampoo for my guests. Any other toiletries can easily be purchased at our local market which is just down the street.
The apartment is large and airy, located on the second floor in a quiet, family oriented complex. If you are coming here by car there's off-street parking right outside my building.
The kitchen is pretty well stocked in terms of cooking utensils, please feel free to prepare your meals here. For those staying one to two weeks, a delicious light breakfast of tropical fruit, organic and locally grown coffee (or tea) and sweet breads will be supplied. Otherwise, all fresh produce, coffee and fresh breads can be found at our local farmers market in downtown zihua. No shortage of good food here!!
Nearby is downtown "el centro" with many restaurants, farmers market (as well as a weekly organic market), shops, cafes, bars and banks. Several beaches are within a 5 to 15 minute walk. If you prefer to get a ride to the beach, you'll find plenty of taxis and frequent mini-buses that shuttle back and forth between beaches and downtown, just a block from the apartment. Renting a car is not really necessary.
If you are interested in language exchange programs, cooking classes, surfing, scuba, snorkeling, yoga, cultural excursions, etc, I've lived in the area for over 9 years and am happy to provide insider info and recommendations on what to do and where to go! Ask me about the local hot springs and waterfalls ... these are places even some long time Zihua residents have yet to find ;)
Our international airport is only a fifteen minute ride from my place and you can either opt for a private taxi, local collectivo van or I can arrange to pick you up for a minimal charge.
If you want to have an authentic Zihua experience, meet the locals and get a real taste for the area, you should definitely come stay with me !!
Guests will have access to the kitchen, dining room and living area. Guests staying for at least a week are free to use the washing machine.
Interaction with Guests
I will be present during my guests stay to help orient them here and get them set up with any kind of activities they might be interested in.
I love my neighborhood, its close to the beach and also a quick walk into downtown. The neighborhood is Mexican and local with just a couple of gringos living in the complex. I like the familiar feel and all the neighbors here are really friendly.
There is convenient public transportation to the beach and also to downtown. Mostly everything is within a quick walk.
Other Things to Note
I have two kitties who will be in and out of the apartment. They are very affectionate and friendly but if you have allergies or don't like cats this may not be the place for you.
The rules of the house are pretty simple. Renters are free to use the common areas and cook in the kitchen. I prefer to rent to non-smokers but there is a garden area outside if you do smoke.
I work from home so I'd be around but mostly working on my computer and listening to music with my headphones on. Basically I just ask that renters keep their area tidy and respect appropriate noise levels (listening to music is fine but blasting pantera at 2am would be pushing it).
There's no curfew, but obviously if you are going to go out and party just try to be quiet when coming back to my place. Oh and please no friends or strangers over.
This might be the easiest place to stay in Zihua. Situated in a purely Mexican neighbourhood, it is ten minutes on foot from downtown, twenty on foot to La Ropa and maybe ten to La Madera. Staying at Maura's place is like staying with a friend. Her second floor apartment is bright, homey and safe, the guest bedroom is simple and clean with its own shower and bathroom, and Maura is an excellent host. Friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, she made us feel totally at home, offered good suggestions on things to do in and around Zihua, steered us to great places to eat, and tried to solve specific requests we had. If we come back to Zihua, we're staying here again!
Maura's is a lovely, knowledgeable host. Her place Is clean and spacious, but mostly I enjoyed the location. The local residents and restaurants went out of their way to make me feel right at home.
Staying with Maura was absolutely wonderful. Comfortable and clean room with very quiet neighbors in a safe neighborhood. 5 minutes walk from the beach and 10 minutes from El Centro; we couldn't have asked for a better location. All of her food recommendations were excellent; never disappointed. She even helped set us up with surfing and diving! We can't wait to come back! We highly recommended staying here if you're looking for an awesome, local Zihua experience!
Maura place is very convient to the centro in Zihuatanejo...you've got to love the Pinata corner!!! It was easy to find, she gave great directions, her place is very roomy, safe and clean.
Maura was incredibly helpful and provided a very comprehensive list of what to expect/do/eat in Zihua. Her place is conveniently located between the downtown area and Playa la Ropa (our favorite beach), so we were able to walk everywhere very easily. We had a lovely time relaxing at the beach and it was the perfect end to our vacation.
My partner and I were looking for a comfortable home like environment over christmas and Mauras place was perfect! Such a short walk to everything. Beautiful La Ropa beach and the main town center were easily a nice 10 minutes away. Maura was very welcoming and allowed us to feel very at home and for that we thank her greatly.
Good location, very near to beach. Obtaining key and meeting with Maura was simple and her information regarding the area was accurate. I enjoyed Zihuatenejo and will travel here again.
I'm originally from NYC but have been living in this pacific coastal paradise for almost 8 years. I love to surf, scuba dive, sail, snowboard and travel. Basically anything involving the ocean or the mountains is where I am most happy. I just started to host people through the airbnb website and I am really enjoying the experience. The place where I live is a real paradise and I look forward to showing guests around and giving recommendations on local spots and things to do!!
