My cool apartment on the edge of the Jordan is suitable for a couple wishing to explore the bustling city from a central and fun base.
Although Westerstraat, Noordermarkt and the pretty little streets of the Jordaan are just a 10-minute walk away, you will find the neighborhood very hip and convenient as well.
There are some nice Mediterranean restaurants and lots of small shops to buy fresh groceries and nice wines. There is also a supermarket across the street. Within walking distance you will find the more luxurious shops of 'De 9 straatjes" and Rozengracht. Walk the other way and you'll find yourself in the amazing Westerpark. A green place around an old factory, nowadays filled with bars, clubs and other cultural venues.
The apartment is spacious and offers lots of comfort. At the front, the balcony overlooking the charming square 'Hugo de Grootplein'. The large balcony at the back offers an oasis of peace and in the afternoon and evening you can enjoy the sun lying on the 'fat boy'. The apartment has one bedroom, a spacious bathroom with a bath and a separate shower cabin and a large living room with open kitchen. See the photos for an impression.
If I have the opportunity I will take the guests on a small tour through the Jordan district. And if the weather permits even a boat trip through the canals is possible. Around the corner you can rent bikes. The tram stop is in front of my house and gets you anywhere in the city.
Enjoy Amsterdam from this amazing place!
Guests have acces to the entire apartment on the second floor, including both balconies.
Interaction with Guests
I like to meet my guest upon arrival to give some final insider tips (for instance about current festivals and gigs).
When I rent out my apartment, I usually am not in town myself.
The Hugo de Grootplein is a cosy square with restaurans, neighbourhoods shops and bar. Vibrant Jordan district, "9 Straatjes" and Westerpark are just around the corner. Do visit the Kinkerbuurt, with a good and cheap food market and a new cultural centre "De Hallen".
For Central Station, just take bus 18 for 10 minutes. Once settled down, tram 3 takes you everywhere except the busy city centre. It circles around the city centre stopping in front of my apartment, but also at Vondelpark, Museum Square, the famous neighbourhood "de Pijp", hip and happening East and near the ferry to the industrial NDSM-wharf.
Of course, for the best experience, rent a bike!
Be clean and neat like it is you own home.
Chat, play music, eat, drink, dance, but respect the neighbors. Amsterdam is a fun city, so use the nights to enjoy the nice restaurants, bars and clubs and to sleep in the remaining time..
Erik was extremely helpful and friendly as a host, providing us with suggestions and a guide to his flat and area upon arrival. As soon as we walked into the flat, we saw the description of his flat on AirBnB was extremely accurate: the flat was very spacious and clean and exceeded our expectations. The neighborhood was exceptional: with restaurants and food stores right in the area and a short walk between the flat and main sightseeing attractions, one did not have to walk far at all to fulfill all needs and desires. The local neighborhood was also extremely safe and welcoming; even late at night, we did not feel threatened or uncomfortable.
A beautiful and modern flat to stay in and just perfect for the 3 of us. Very central and close to lots of lovely cafes and tourist attractions, only wish we could have stayed longer. Erik was very good at communicating with us despite not being in Amsterdam at the time himself. Thank you again.
Erik's apartment was perfect and exactly as expected. It was very clean, shiny and pleasant. Erik's has been very nice and welcoming. Next time i come to Amsterdam, i will come back to his apartment for sure !!
The apartment is within walking distance to most of Amsterdam's innercity attractions. The nicely furbished, cosy flat provided us with all amenities needed and was really clean. There is a supermarket just opposite of the house - really handy. We didn't meet Erik as he was not in Amsterdam. A friend handed over the keys and provided last-minute hints. Erik had prepared a welcome note and supplied us with tips/hints for the city and the different neighbourhoods. We had a great stay and time in Amsterdam. We would definitely recommend Erik's flat and stay there again another time.
Erik is a friendly, outgoing guy who was very accommodating with our early arrival. His apartment is an ideal place to stay and is well located. We can only endorse all the positive feedback he has received from other guests who have stayed in his place. Thanks again Eric for being so easy to deal with.
Nice location in walking distance to the city-centre.The appartment is very spacious, has a great light from the big windows and the bed is comfortable. We felt at home right away.
Great with supermarket and bakery just across the street. The communication with Erik and the check-in was very smooth. Very recommendable place to stay!
I spent 12 days in Erik's apartment in Amsterdam. The apartment is just how it looks in the pictures. Erik was a great host and very easy to communicate with. No problems with meeting him, getting keys or leaving at the end of my vacation. Erik always made it easy. The location of the apartment is perfect to explore the city from. There is everything you need right across the street...grocery store, pharmacy, bakery, laundromat, scooter rental and cafe's, coffee shops and restaurants. Can't wait to visit the wonderful city of Amsterdam again. Thanks Erik!
Hi, I am Erik. Born in 1981 and happy Amsterdammer. I love living in my house , but also spend a lot of time at my girlfriends place. I enjoy showing (international) guests the city, by foot, by bike or by boat. And of course I love to travel the world myself. Because of my travels, my many years living in Amsterdam and my knowledge of the city (also because I studied Urban Planning), I can give you good tips to make your time in Amsterdam more than worthwile!
