Attic Master Suite with Kitchenette

House - Private room · Pierce St, San Francisco, CA 94117, United States

The Space

It’s much more than a single room, a little less than a whole house. Welcome to the Pierce Street Suite, which occupies the entire top-floor attic of a 1896 Queen Anne Victorian, right in the heart of San Francisco’s uber-requested neighborhood, the Lower Haight / Duboce Triangle.

First, the space you’ll be occupying: bright and airy, clean and cozy, we've just remodeled our attic floor, a project which was completed in October 2012, and had been originally executed for the daughter of the house, who picked up and returned to Italy in November. Her loss is your gain. Ask Jane about it when you get here over a glass of wine; it's a good story.

This attic is...well, everything you'd want a remodeled Victorian attic to be: sloped ceilings, lots of skylights, with original redwood flooring and walls. There's a modern, deluxe bathroom with a huge tiled shower. There's also a small but serviceable kitchenette with a mini-fridge and microwave, so you can make coffee, tea, drink wine, heat left-overs from San Francisco's wonderful restaurants and eat snacks. There's a separate bedroom with a cozy sleeping nook, with a super comfortable queen-sized bed and ample space for clothes. The main living area includes a work space with writing desk, loveseat (that pulls out into a twin bed), and a bookshelf full of books, many of which are in Italian. The space is perfect for 1 or 2 people, who appreciate quiet and privacy, but also enjoy having a local host around.

You will be living upstairs from Jane, who was born in S.F. and has been living in this house since 1976. There's a private washer and dryer in the basement should you need them. Sometimes--not always--there is a shy dog named Clipper, so anyone allergic should know this. But she's very sweet.

Now, the neighborhood. Objectively, it's probably one of the city's best locations: the Lower Haight is easy walking distance to the Haight, the Castro, the Mission, the Fillmore, Hayes Valley. Two blocks to the left is the spacious, sunny Duboce Park, and two blocks to the right, the legendary Alamo Square with its Painted Ladies. There's more public transportation than you will know what to do with: buses and streetcars will easily take you downtown, to Golden Gate Park, or to the Marina / Chrissy Fields.

The Pierce Street Suite is a very special place. It was created with a lot of love, and this house has been occupied by the same family for more than 35 years. Jane is great company, well-traveled (her daughter is practically Italian) and curious but discrete. She looks forward to meeting you and making your stay in the World's Best City something to remember and cherish.

  • What a lovely place! Five stars! My daughter and I spent four nights in Jane's attic suite while visiting my favorite city. The house is a beautiful, well-maintained Queen Anne Victorian on a quiet street. The charming suite is a private space, tastefully remodeled and decorated with a new high-end bathroom and kitchenette. From the house we easily walked to cafes, restaurants, park and transit. We arrived at the suite to find fresh flowers on the coffee table, tasty snacks/breakfast items and other thoughtful touches. I hope to stay there again.

  • Lovely and comfortable. It was nice to stay in a residential area, away from the noise of the financial district and Union Square. It is located just blocks away from the bus and metro stops and within walking distance to many points of interest.

  • Jane is a five stars Airbnb host and her listing is extraordinary.
Situated in one of the most beautiful areas of the city, the attic makes a perfect stay whether you are in town for holiday or for business.

  • The attic is just as pretty and charming as in the pictures, and the bed is very comfortable. The location is also very good in a nice, quiet neighbourhood, but only a short walk to public transportation, restaurants and shops. Jane is the perfect host. I would be happy to rent this place again some other time!

  • Me and my mother stayed in Jane's lovely attic for two weeks - and couldn't have found a better place. Charming neighborhood with lots of cafees and cool shops within walking distance. Jane was the perfect hostess, giving us many useful tips about what to see and do in San Francisco. Would come back here anytime and recommend anyone to stay here!

  • My mother, Tina, and I had such a wonderful stay in Jane's attic. She was such a warm, and kind-hearted spirit. It truly enlivened our day to return home to Jane's sweet smile and comfy abode. We had such a great time in San Francisco, however, staying at Jane's made it a trip we'll never forget!

I'm an enthusiastic bicyclist who works as a family lawyer to keep myself in bike socks. Born in San Francisco, grew up near Stanford University, and moved around a lot before I got back to San Francisco in 1976. I've raised two children in this house and they've always claimed they grew up in the best neighborhood in San Francisco. Since both my children live elsewhere (but have left their hearts in San Francisco), I'm now occupying this 4-story Victorian on my own--sometimes accompanied by my very shy dog, who prefers the Sierra foothills, where I often go on the weekends. I love meeting new people, but can assure you that you'll have plenty of privacy, as the Attic Suite is on the top floor and is quite separate from the main house. I travel often to Europe to visit my daughter (here we are in Italy a few years ago), and spent two years living and teaching in Africa. This is a wonderful city and a dynamic, friendly neighborhood that I feel fortunate to live in and share.
