Welcome to Vermont's Mad River Valley
Where many come for the mountains but stay for the authentic experience the Valley offers all year long. Tucked between two legendary mountain resorts, Sugarbush and Mad River Glen, it's no surprise our town of Waitsfield was voted best ski town in the East by Outside Magazine.
A car is needed
Other Things to Note
Well known as a winter skiing destination — it is home to the sprawling Sugarbush resort and 'ski it if you can' Mad River Glen — the valley reveals itself in warmer weather, when history, culture and a hyperlocal food scene come to the fore."

Barbara's home was absolutely perfect. From the well furnished kitchen to the back porch overlooking the beautiful gardens . She has thought of everything to make you feel at home . Would definitely stay here again!
This property is beautiful! The host is excellent, there really isn't anything missing. Menu's, activity guides, maps - Barbara thought of it all. Even a bottled jug of water in the fridge for when we arrived made our stay so enjoyable. An A+++ experience, will most certainly return.
Barbara did a great job of welcoming us, beginning with my first contact with her. She got right back with me by email and answered all my questions. As she prepared for our arrival, she found out how we like to take our coffee and had freshly ground coffee and milk waiting for us in the refrigerator when we arrived! Our cottage was comfortable and perfectly located, allowing us to walk to our relatives' house each day for a family reunion. Everything was just as she describes on her website, including the small kitchen appliances we inquired about, and we will definitely come back when we have another family visit planned.
Barbara was very helpful getting ready to arrive and while we were there. Apt was exactly as listed and VERY clean. Plenty of supplies to make our stay comfortable and nice warm heated floors. Drive to Sugarbush 15 minutes. Views and setting lovely typical Vermont. Highly recommend.
Sweet and welcoming hosts. Cleared a path for us to the hot tub (around the corner), and didn't get upset when we lost the key in a snow drift. (So sorry!!) Will be back!
We had a great stay at Barbara's place. The setting is gorgeous and the location is convenient to all of the adorable things Waitsfield has to offer. We were in town for a family wedding at the Skinner Barn, so the place was perfect. There were plenty of clean linens and shampoos and all of the essentials. I would stay again if back in the area.
The Stay in Barbaras Appartement was very very wonderful - a quiet place, with lot of place (it is an own appartement with a separate entrance), very clean, all things you need are there. The porch is gorgeous and the look in the night sky super! Barbara is a very friendly woman, and awomderful host - she helped us a lot with tips for hiking and shopping! A really good place to stay even for lnger time (we had only 3 days) - I would come back all time to have my holidays at Barbara's place.
