Old professional photo of the living room. Furniture has changed but kitchen, floor and size hasn't.
Make my spare bedroom your home away from home when staying in fantastic Sydney.
The argument for staying at my place:
It's only a short walk to some of Sydney's best restaurants, pubs, bars, cafes, shopping and you'll be staying in what was voted Sydney's best suburb in 2012 (now probably uncool). What's that? You love being close to transport? Did I mention it's only two minutes walk to Central station? There's also a taxi rank around the corner and bus stop at another corner (different corner).
I also have a hair dryer even though I don't need it myself. One less thing to pack for you.
Getting to my apartment from the airport is super easy. I think being close to the CBD and transport but also being a quiet street are my apartment's best feature.
My apartment is walking distance to everything in the Sydney CBD. You'll love the convenience as much as I do. And now there is a new supermarket only a one minute walk away.
Like many bedrooms it features a queen size bed (linen & towels included) with built-in wardrobe. Bedrooms are upstairs, living space, kitchen and laundry downstairs. The building has a lift, intercom, security entrance and hard wired fire alarms and sprinkler system.
The argument against: The bedroom can get warm on a hot day in summer but there is a fan. If you can't live without air-conditioning then it seems we just weren't meant to be.
If you're like most of the planet and can survive without a/c then lets get back to the argument for:
The kitchen is always clean and you're welcome to use it so long as it stays this way. If breakfast to you means some toast and a cup of tea then consider it included. Break fast is self serve. What about coffee? There must be at least 10 coffee shops within 500m of my apartment.
Beaches: Plenty of buses to the Eastern Suburbs beaches, I'd recommend a day trip to Cronulla or Manly Beach and if you need a beach towel I'm happy to lend one.
I've lived in Sydney all my life so know most of the tips and tricks. I should be able to give you a few ideas on things to do if you don't already have your own list. Sydney can be an expensive city but there are also many outdoor activities that provide great experiences and are free.
Mais uma coisa, eu falo alguem portugues mas preciso practicar mais.
Yes you can:
Use the kitchen to cook provided you keep it clean
Put your food in the fridge or cupboards
I'm usually around during guests stays. Happy to have a chat, discuss your travel plans and answer all the little questions that make a trip more enjoyable.
Interaction all depends on each others' needs at the time. Sometimes my guests come and go with not more than a quick hello and goodbye. They're busy, have limited time and lots to do. I'm not offended by this.
Other times I find myself sharing meals with guests, going out for coffee or visiting tourist attractions. There is no rule for how much interaction we have or don't have.
My place is VERY convenient for public transport and you can walk to the CBD and most parts of the city.
No smoking, pets, random guests or drugs you can't take through airports.
Keep the kitchen clean and please don't keep food in the bedroom. There is plenty of space in the kitchen to store food.
Treat my apartment, the building and my neighbours with the same courtesy you treat your own.
I work full-time so check-in is typically after 6:00pm. This is flexible for weekends and public holidays so please discuss it with me prior to booking.
Great host. My friend and I felt very comfortable during our stay. Gavin had an answer to all our touristical questions and it was nice to chat about other topics anyways. Loved the central location.
Gavin is a great host. He gave us great ideas (places to see). We enjoyed our stay very much. The location is great; lots of busses and trains within walking distance.
Our stay for four nights were great! And Gavin was a friendly & helpful host. The location is perfectly convenient as its close to the central station plus there are a lot of nice cafes around the neighborhood.
Gavin was a great host. Very friendly, easy to get on with and always welcoming. Always on hand to provide tips on resturants and local attractions.Anything we wanted was there. Bed really comfortable & quiet area, easy to sleep. Very central location, we walked everywhere only used buses for beaches. The stop for these around the corner from apartment. Couldn't have asked for a better stay, thanks Gavin! Alicia & Mark
We enjoyed our stay at Gavin's place! He's a nice host who recommended some nice beaches and helped to plan our days in the lovely city of Sydney. This apartment is super clean and has nicely aired room. Will come back if we get the chance to revisit this wonderful country!
Great location! Gavin's place is right around the corner from the busiest public transportation station in Sydney. This made getting around easy and allowed us to take full advantage of the time we had. The room was very spacious and had all the essentials.
Gavin was a great host! He made us feel at home at all times and even asked us to join him to some local sporting events. He gave us great tips on Sydney, and answered any other questions we had.
Overall a great place to stay in Sydney!
Gavin's place is incredibly convenient, only a couple minutes walk from Central Station. This meant that on the morning we flew into Sydney we could go straight from the airport to Central by train and leave our suitcases there for the day while we did some sightseeing, then we picked up our cases in the evening and walked round the corner to Gavin's. Easy! And the place was so central that we could easily get to all the tourist destinations we wanted to either by foot or by a quick train ride from Central Station.
Another great feature of Gavin's place was the bed - it was soooo comfortable! I actually came down with the flu whole we were there and had to spend a couple of days on bed, and having a cosy bed to sleep in all day really helped.
Gavin was polite and friendly and gave us lots of privacy, which we appreciated. The place was clean and exactly as advertised. It's not a luxury hotel to spend lots of time hanging out in, it's more a convenient base to sleep in for people who want to spend their days out and about seeing Sydney.
The only negative about the place is that we were there during an exceptionally cold and rainy week in Sydney, and the room had no heating so was very cold overnight. But I'm sure during a normal week of Sydney weather the room temperature would be perfect. We were just unlucky with the timing of our visit.
All in all we recommend Gavin's place for anyone wanting a clean, easy, convenient base right in the middle of Sydney. Thanks, Gavin!
Born and raised in the suburbs of southern Sydney I've lived here all my life. I've travelled to countries in South America, Central America, US, and Europe plus one or two other places. Loved every minute of travel and found I always had a better time when I staying with locals. So if you're staying with me I'll do my best to make you feel at home, provide you with tips and advice and generally try to help you get the most out of your holiday.
